So,
this is a project my brother and I have been working on for the last 6
months or so. We took this car apart almost completely. Didn't replace everything in the car, but came pretty close. The engine and gear box was not rebuilt it runs great and no leaks. Just keep up the maintenance and it will be a great car for years. Or you can swap the motor with a more powerful one and have yourself a baby Porsche.
We replaced the driver side floor pan, as the old one was a bit rusty. Took all the glass out, replaced the rubber seals, repainted the car completely. Inside and out, New custom interior upholstery, panels and carpet. New paint and everything else listed below: New tie rods and tie rod ends Alignment New disk brake conversion in front new tires and custom wheels cleaned all the wiring connections All new fuses new exhaust new spark plugs and wires new air filter oil changed new belt adjusted timing New headlights with LED rings New marker light covers new trunk and hood seals New blue tooth stereo, amp and speakers all custom double stitched upholstery New carpeting We put a lot of money in this car. It runs great and looks great. |

Lamando is Chinese for VW Jetta CC [w/video]
Sun, 31 Aug 2014Volkswagen is not messing around when it characterizes its new MQB architecture as modular. It's already underpinning the VW Golf, Audi A3, Seat Leon and Skoda Octavia, and will soon form the basis for many more. And here is the latest.
Unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show in China this weekend is the new Volkswagen Lamando, a four-door coupe similar in size to a Jetta but with the svelter roofline of the larger Passat-based CC to go after the Mercedes-Benz CLA. It's essentially the production version of the New Midsize Coupe concept that previewed its arrival at the Beijing Motor Show this past April, and will be built locally for local consumption by VW's joint venture with SAIC.
Power comes from either a 1.4- or 2.0-liter turbo four mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, with an equivalent price tag below $30,000. Whether this or any similar vehicle ever arrives in North American showrooms remains to be seen, but we'll be watching to find out. TN politicians may push to end VW incentives if plant goes union
Tue, 11 Feb 2014Volkswagen's Chattanooga Assembly Plant is scheduled to vote on whether to unionize in the coming days, but Tennessee state lawmakers are threatening to deny future tax subsidies to the factory, if the vote is successful. The factory is currently the only Volkswagen plant worldwide that is not unionized.
The states's Republican lawmakers have been particularly vocal against the union vote. Tennessee state senator Bo Watson said during a press conference that VW would have a "very tough time" with future incentives if the vote were successful, according to Automotive News. Tennessee House Majority Leader Gerald McCormick said the "heavy hand" of the UAW is not welcome there. VW has drawn criticism from both sides because it has allowed both pro- and anti-union groups to speak to workers and hand out leaflets.
Roughly 1,500 factory employees will vote on whether to unionize from February 12-14. If successful, the Chattanooga factory would be the first in the US organized under a German-style works council system where white- and blue-collar workers directly negotiate factory issues with the company's management.

North American car buyers get a bit of a slap in the face when it comes to delivery schedules for new the Volkswagen Golf and pumped-up GTI models. We'll just repeat the old chestnut: It's worth the wait... even though it still stinks. This time around, Western Europe is taking deliveries of the new Golf as we speak, and GTI deliveries start between May and July. North America doesn't get the Mk7 Golf or GTI until about July of 2014.
So we approached our first drive of the new GTI with this chip on our shoulder: "You're making us wait? Well, then at least give us the exact car we'll be able to buy. No compromises, mein freund." And so it was that we extracted nearly all of our drive impressions from behind the wheel of what, for the United States, will technically be a model year 2015 two-door Volkswagen Golf GTI Performance with the standard six-speed manual.
