1967 Volkswagen Beetle Bug on 2040-cars

this is a very special 1967 Volkswagen bug. it is a mostly original, one family owned since new, rust free, good running example of the pivotal 67 beetle. first year of the 12 volt system, this has a newer 1600cc motor . I was given this car by my older sister about 12 years ago, she bought it new in frisco.it comes with the original owners manual, the key, and even the original window sticker showing it has the optional pop out rear side windows. has a clear title, and Oregon tags good until oct 2015. almost everything works as it should. it runs and drives very well. has a nice 80s alpine stereo .this car has been well taken care of ,I have many receipts showing work done since new. I put in high back front seats for safety ,also has shoulder harness seat belts in front, but it will come with original seats too. they need new covers and foam. it also comes with manuals, a spare tire tool holder with tools, a nice underdash wicker storage rack, and a very nice 3 piece front bra for the car. there was a small dent on the r rear fender that popped back out, and a rough area below the rear hood. otherwise this car is rust free. the floor pans are great. . this car was bumped in the rear hard enough to bend the rear bumper and brackets slightly, so the bumper was replaced in 2005. it does need new weatherstripping around the windows. this bug is well worth the effort it would take to restore it , or you can drive it and enjoy it as is...good luck bidding,,i must receive payment before shipping, and buyer is responsible for all shipping.

Volkswagen formally introduces super-efficient XL1
Mon, 04 Mar 2013Lightweight and low drag are hallmarks of great sportscar design. But when paired with a super-efficient, hybrid powertrain, you have the Volkswagen's XL1 that has been formally introduced in Geneva today.
When the 1,700-lb, carbon-fiber-bodied two-seater hits the road, its claimed 261 miles per gallon will make it the world's most-fuel-efficient production car. Though "production car" might be a stretch since VW said in a February press release that the XL1 would be built using "handcrafting-like production methods." We translate that to mean you won't be seeing many of these cars on the road. Though no one at VW has mentioned pricing yet, early rumors suggested a six-figure price tag.
That's supercar budget for a vehicle that has a 47-horsepower, two-cylinder diesel engine and a 27hp electric motor. With numbers like that, owners can expect 0-62 mph times of 12.7 seconds and top speed near 100 mph.
UAW tactics called into question at VW's TN plant
Thu, 26 Sep 2013The United Auto Workers is in hot water with some of the very workers it is trying to unionize at Volkswagen's Chattanooga assembly plant. According to The Tennessean, eight Volkswagen factory workers have filed complaints against the UAW with the National Labor Relations Board, claiming the union "misled or coerced" them into formally asking for union representation.
The UAW has instituted a major push at the Chattanooga plant to represent the 2,500 hourly laborers that build the VW Passat by using what's called a card-check process. The tactic is opposed by the National Right to Work Legal Defense foundation, the group representing the workers. The card-check process demands that a company recognize a union that obtains the signatures of more than half its workforce, according to The Tennessean. This tactic is in contrast to the more traditional route, which sees employees vote on union representation.
The workers filing the complaint claim that the UAW told them the cards merely called for a secret ballot, rather than an outright demand for union representation. Workers also allege that the UAW has made it overly difficult to reclaim their signed cards, some of which were signed so long ago that they have been rendered invalid. Although the cards can force a company's hand, federal law still allows the company to ask for a secret ballot before yielding to unionized workers.
Volkswagen drops "GTi" lawsuit against Suzuki
Tue, 02 Oct 2012Way back in 2004, Volkswagen took umbrage with Suzuki being granted permission to use the nameplate "SWIFT GTi" for a performance variant of its small-car offering (2012 equivalent seen here). Now, eight years and surely some very steep legal bills later, VW has finally dropped its claim against Suzuki.
The General Court of the European Union stated, back in March of this year, that Suzuki's GTi registration could not be confused with VW's "Golf GTI." Volkswagen had appealed that ruling, though has now reportedly called off the dogs. In fact, Germany's Die Welt reports that the appeal has been dead for several weeks now.
This news comes amongst continued arbitration acrimony between the two automakers, all revolving around VW's forced divestiture of nearly 20-percent stake it purchased in Suzuki some two years ago.
