I am selling
my 1978 BJ40 with the 'B' motor. 25-27 MPG. I do not have the time to fix what needs to be
done to get her back on the road again. I was in the process of rebuilding the
transfer case when I found out the output shaft on my transmission was worn.
From there I purchased a used transmission and transfer case with an approximate
70k miles. The stock transmission is a H41. The unit purchased came out of a 1978 FJ40
which is a H42. I had planned on switching out the stock unit with the one
purchased but I soon found out that the input shaft did not mate to the diesel.
All that needs to be done is a rebuild kit from SOR for about $320, use the
good output shaft from the unit purchased and put everything back together. The
cruiser comes with: -2-bench
style rear seats that come with the vinyl covers (I never had them
re-upholstered) -A/C that
came when purchased (believe it is aftermarket, ran super cold when it was in
the Cruiser and most likely needs to be recharged, not currently in the land cruiser) -Complete
transmission and transfer case I purchased for the repairs -new floor
panel for drivers side (where it has rusted) The motor
runs great, I have installed new glow plugs, water pump and radiator.
It has rust but nothing that can't be fixed or too major with the exception of

Toyota Camry, Honda Civic inventories mounting as US automakers make inroads
Thu, 11 Jul 2013Two of the hottest-selling cars in America aren't quite as hot as they used to be. The Toyota Camry and Honda Civic are both seeing dealer supplies increase in the face of renewed competition from the much-improved Detroit Three.
According to a report from The Detroit News, the Camry's dealer inventory is 15 days higher than its seasonal average, while the Civic is 25 days above average. Things aren't expected to get better for Toyota and Honda, as RBC Capital Markets analyst Joseph Spak marked the two Japanese offerings as "at risk for reduced output."
The Detroit Three, meanwhile, are seeing supplies dwindle as demand increases, especially for the Ford Fusion, which has seen an 18-percent increase in 2013 sales, and the Chevrolet Cruze, which was second only to the Camry in June 2013 sales.
Toyota Sienna Swagger Wagon rides again with Busta Rhymes
Mon, 04 Aug 2014Let's face it: there are few things less "gangsta" than a minivan (which goes a long way towards explaining why crossovers have been gradually taking their place as the family-hauler of choice across America, but we digress). The point here is not lost on Toyota, which has embraced the uncool image of the minivan with the Swagger Wagon campaign.
We first saw the suburban-goes-urban campaign pop up with the introduction of the new Sienna back in 2010. And now that the Sienna's been updated for 2015, the campaign is back again, featuring none other than Trevor Tahiem Smith, Jr. himself... better known to most as Busta Rhymes. The decidedly white-bread video spot that follows may make you cringe, but you've got to admit that it's well done, even if it doesn't have the charm and freshness of the original.
Hyundai tops Toyota in annual CarMD Vehicle Health Index
Fri, 06 Dec 2013CarMD has released its third annual Vehicle Health Index, which for the 2013 tracked the frequency and cost of repairs for "check engine" problems of 119-million vehicles built between the 2003 and 2013 model years. For the first two years of the index, Toyota ranked at the top of the list, but this year's results see Hyundai moved to number one, pushing Toyota down a spot.
The Korean automaker's rise to the top has been "fueled by its low repair frequency," according to CarMD. Toyota is second to Hyundai in lowest repair frequency, but Toyotas also have the highest average cost of repair. (Interestingly, General Motors vehicles have the lowest average.) Both Toyota's and Hyundai's manufacturer "health" ratings suffered this year, but Toyota took a bigger hit, which also is what helped Hyundai achieve the top ranking.
While Hyundai is the top manufacturer in the index, the 2012 Toyota Camry is the top vehicle. The best-ranking Hyundai was the 2010 Elantra (behind three Nissan models and four Toyotas), which took the number eight spot. Hyundai has six other vehicles in the top 100.
