2000 Toyota Celica GT, White with 16" chrome rims, automatic, carbon fiber hood. 212,800 miles, I have been the owner since 65,000 miles, oil changed every 3-5000 miles...no leaks whatsoever. Doesn't visibly burn any oil or smoke out the exhaust, but it will go through about a quart every 3-4K miles between changes due to the age of the engine and the miles on it. Rims are pitted in places, and hood needs new clear coat. Some minor damage on the passenger front ground effects area behind wheel....door opens fine, but does rub. Fuel door fell off due to the usual rust issue on the hing, I still have it. dings and dents here and there, but nothing else major. Brand new tires put on the front today, rear tires are about 50% maybe. New battery 6 months ago, new plugs last week. Car has never been in the shop for anything other than routine maintenance (tires, brakes, ac charge, etc.) except when I broke something myself. A/C works, but seems to have a very slow leak possibly....could just be the summer heat/sun causing the issue since during dusk and at night it blows cold. Drivers seat has the usual tear on the left side, steering wheel could use a cover or replacement since the leather is mostly gone at the top. drivers side front rug is damaged from not using the mat in a while. Runs and drives fine, I've been driving it daily for 8 years, but I bought a newer car to replace it. Overall car is in fair condition body/interior wise, and I'd say good to very good mechanically for its mileage. I'm sure there is more good and bad things to report, but this about covers the important stuff....feel free to email any questions or call 1-561-596-9792. Union to launch Toyota organization drive in Canada
Sun, 12 Jan 2014Toyota may be heading toward some labor issues in the Great White North, as employees at a pair of Canadian Toyota factories may be set for a certification vote. The Unifor union, which was the result of a merger last year between the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union, will be holding the vote.
Over 40 percent of the employees at the Woodstock and Cambridge, Ontario factories have signed union cards, cresting the minimum percentage required to instigate a legal certification vote, according to Reuters. The Woodstock factory is responsible for RAV4 production, while Cambridge builds the Lexus RX350 and RX450h, as well as the Toyota Corolla. The two factories employ nearly 7,000 people.
It's unclear when the union will hold a certification vote at the two factories, but what is rather clear are the worker complaints. Employees are concerned about workers being hired on temporary contracts which lack the benefits of full employment, John Aman, head of organizing for Unifor, told Reuters.
Tesla pulling plug on Toyota RAV4 EV battery deal
Mon, 12 May 2014The future of the Toyota RAV4 EV appears to be in doubt. Tesla supplies the EVs battery packs, and it says that production ends later this year.
"Toyota is expected to end the current RAV4 EV model this year," Tesla said in its quarterly financial filing obtained by Bloomberg. "Our production activities under this program are expected to end in 2014," the company said.
This timeline fits closely with the original production plans for the RAV4 EV. When the $100-million project was first announced, Tesla said that it expected to supply battery packs for the vehicle from 2012 to 2014. Building components for the Japanese automaker continues to bring in money, though. In the company's Q1 2014 letter to shareholders, it said: "Automotive revenue included $15 million of Toyota powertrain sales." According to Bloomberg, Toyota has sold just 1,594 RAV4 EV models from 2012 through April 2014. Initially, the business had estimated that it would sell 2,600 units of the electrified crossover.

Thu, 17 Oct 2013The list of finalists for the 2014 Green Car of the Year has been announced, and in a genuinely bizarre twist, there's only one hybrid and no electric vehicles among the five contestants, despite the arrival of cars like the BMW i3 and Tesla Model S. Taking the place of the EVs are a pair of diesels, repping a technology that last won a Green Car of the Year award in 2009, when the Audi A3 TDI took the title. No diesel was in the running for last year's award.
Naturally, both of the diesel finalists are fielded by the Germans - with BMW's 328d and Audi's A6 TDI getting the nod. In the case of the 3 Series, BMW installed a 2.0-liter, turbodiesel, capable of delivering 180 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, while returning 45 miles per gallon on the highway. Audi and its larger, 3.0-liter, V6 turbodiesel produce quite a bit more grunt, with 240 hp and 428 lb-ft of grunt, but net a very impressive 38 mpg on the highway in the A6.
Finalists for this year's awards include two diesels, three gas-powered cars and a plug-in hybrid.
