Up for Bidding is my
2013 Scion FR-S with all of the modifications and extras I have put into it.
Please feel free to PM me with any questions or for specific pictures. I have
this car for sale locally, so I reserve the right to remove the auction if it
is sold locally. Also, this car is leased, and there is the option to transfer
the lease to you. I will need a down payment to cover my equity, please PM me
if you have any questions on that.
This was one of the
first in Utah and in the first 5,000 built, but only has just over 15,000 miles
on it! This car has been my baby, my pride and joy, but unfortunately the need
for a four door car is pushing me to sell. I bought this car on June 27th of
2012, and all of the work and maintenance has been performed by myself and the
top grade mechanics at Toyota Bountiful!
15,000 mile maintenance was done yesterday at Toyota
Bountiful, as well as alignment, balance and rotate, full multi point
inspection, and a new cabin filter. I had it fully detailed afterwards as well.
There has been a
lot done to this car, and a lot of one of a kind parts and pieces put in it! I
still have ALL of the stock parts, which will be included, except for the
exhaust (I can easily trade mine locally for a full OEM exhaust if you want it)
and the stock shifter. Among the one-off pieces is the custom exhaust built in Salt
Lake City, with large quad outlets, and a cherry bomb extreme muffler. She
purrs like muscle, the sound is still deep, and doesn't have the weak whiny
output of most 4 cylinder exhausts. The headers are the oem length, so a little
bit of the un-even boxer rumble comes out, but not as much as a WRX will have.
The other pride and joy of this car is the collection of Perrin Performance
parts. All of the orange pieces are one of a kind, as they were done up in the
oh-so-orange color for the SEMA show in 2012. They originally debuted in Perrin
Performance's FR-S at SEMA! They never made any other parts in the orange
color, and all of those original pieces are functionally installed on this car.
The support braces still haven't been released, and may stay the only triangle
braces ever made for this car by Perrin. I will put the list below of all of
the additions and modifications that are included.
All in all, I am
about $30k into this car including all of the parts and the car.
I also have
18" rims available if you want them instead of the OEM rims. (Local
Trade with Friend)

Scion has become something of a tuner favorite, so it's only fitting that Toyota's youth-oriented brand have an array of show cars ready for SEMA each year. And this year will be no exception.
Scion itself is bringing five cars to SEMA this year, and as you might expect, they're mostly based on the FR-S. There's a black one done in partnership with DJ Steve Aoki with an onboard mixing station, another (in white and black) done with Bulletproof Automotive with a 500-horsepower engine and fresh bodywork, a grey one done up with GReddy with a 750-horsepower turbocharged engine and, the slickest of the group, the Style J concept (pictured above) with matte grey bodywork, a Scirocco-style nose and a full leather interior. There's also a stretched xB done up by Cartel Customs and laden with tech.
Aside from Scion's own show cars, the automaker has also released the details on three entries for its Tuner Challenge: one each from the East Coast, Pacific Northwest and Southern California. Scion gave each builder a stock tC, 90 days and $15,000 to build their concepts that will be judged by an expert panel at the SEMA show, with the winner taking home a $10,000 prize.

We have entered a drifting arms race. Last year, BMW smashed the Guinness World Record for the longest drift by hanging the tail out for 51.3 miles around a wet skid pad in an M5 at the BMW Performance Driving School in South Carolina. That beat the previous milestone of nearly seven miles. Now, Bimmer's record is up in smoke as well and is in the possession of a Toyota.
German driver Harald Müller pummeled the old record to drift for 89.55 miles around a 0.15-mile (235.5-meter) course in Samsun, Turkey, in a Toyota GT86 (or Scion FR-S as it's known in the US). According to the Guinness World Records website, it took him 612 laps and 2 hours, 25 minutes and 18 seconds to manage the achievement. Sit back to watch a few minutes of the German's two and a half hours behind the wheel with the tail out.

According to a top Toyota executive, the Japanese automaker will not be introducing any fresh Scion models in the near future, Reuters reports. As of August, Scion sales for this year were down 1.6 percent from 2012 and accounted for only 0.3 percent of Toyota's overall US sales. And last month, Toyota Motor Sales USA Senior Vice President Bob Carter informed the 1,000 dealers who carry Scion that they can drop the brand without penalty.
However, never fear - Carter has assured that, while nothing new is coming for at least six months, the company is still very committed to the quirky Scion brand. Toyota launched Scion, which targets the youth market, in 2003, and sales peaked in 2006. The brand currently has five models, with the 2013 best-sellers being the FR-S sports coupe followed by the tC sedan and xB hatchback.
What do you think about Toyota's decision to hold off on introducing new or refreshed Scion models? Are they heading in the right direction, or does this spell doom for the funky Gen Y brand?
