1987 Porsche 928 S4 - Excellent Condition, Beautifully Maintained And Immaculate on 2040-cars
Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States
THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY CLEAN AND THE PAINT IS BEAUTIFUL!! The most sought-after color combination that Porsche ever produced. Guard's Red paint with Camel color interior, this 928 has 80,300 original miles. It's been well maintained with all the proper servicing. It looks brilliant, and you will not easily find another Porsche of this year that is in this great of shape. Always garage kept and meticulously cared for. This is a 928 that anyone would be proud to own and drive. She is still a real head-turner while going down the road. The ride is sure and smooth, and has that awesome V-8 sound that 928's are known for.
The sound system has been upgraded from factory, to include CD player, tuner, and an aux jack for ipod or other MP3 player. Alpine speakers up front and Pioneer sub along with Alpine amp in the rear deck where the spare tire would normally live. The sound system has loads of power, with the sub able to pound hard and shake the seats. It really sounds excellent. The spare is included in the auction, and is one of those 'inflate when you need it' spares. The tool kit is also in the rear deck panel. The tires are Michelin Pilots with 255/40ZR17's in the rear and 225/45ZR17's up front. They all have about 40% tread remaining. The wheels have been upgraded from factory original to the 993 Cup Wheels in 17". I think it looks fantastic with this better-looking wheel. The engine is factory with nothing special added on and boasts 316hp. It starts right up and has smooth acceleration and power. Automatic transmission, cruise control, intermittent wipers (if you ever drive in the rain), signals, headlights, power steering, ABS power brakes, all work flawlessly. The air conditioner blows cold, but I have found that it needs a freon charge every couple years. Apparently there's a slow leak somewhere, according to RennSport. It has been upgraded to R134 over the R12 that he said came factory on the car. Window tinting has been added to help keep the car cool in the sun, and really gave it that finished look. All dash lights and indicators are working and show no problems with any sensors. Most (if not all) logs are included and shows exceptional maintenance. You couldn't ask for a classic '87 928 in better condition. |

Porsche celebrates Le Mans return with Martini edition 911
Tue, 10 Jun 2014If we've said it once, we've said it a hundred times - but we'll gladly say it again: there are few racing liveries as iconic as Martini. And while those stripes have adorned countless Lancia and Ford rally cars, grand prix racers (like the latest Williams) and even speedboats, they remain inexorably tied to Porsche. Fortunately that point is not lost on Porsche itself, which has lately put them on its own 918 Spyder, race-spec 911 and all manner of merchandise. And this is the latest.
To celebrate its return to Le Mans this year, Porsche Exclusive is offering this special Martini Racing Edition. It's based on the 911 Carrera S, which means the more potent 3.8-liter flat six with 400 horsepower, but upgrades, as you might have guessed, with a whole mess of Martini Racing stripes and logos, along with the Aerokit Cup front and rear spoilers. The badges and stripes abound inside as well, where you'll also find such optional extras as the Porsche Communication Management system, Bose audio and black leather electric sport seats.
Porsche is offering the 911 Carrera S Martini Racing Edition in either white or black, but unfortunately not in our market - just in Europe, China and Latin America. Those who miss out will (in certain markets anyway) be able to order the decal set separately though. Feel free to read more in the press release below.
Will Roegge makes 4K art of Jeff Zwart's 911 build and run up Pikes Peak
Sun, 17 Aug 2014Will Roegge has turned his camera on Jeff Zwart and provided another gem, this time documenting Zwart's run up Pikes Peak and BBI Autosport. Bertim Besha dropped out of high school, then worked his way up to founding his own shop, BBI, that gathers a crew of tuners who are just as fastidious about their work as the customers are about their cars.
They prepped the 991-series Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Turbo, the product of combining a 911 GT2 that was the most powerful car Zwart drove up the mountain with a GT3 Cup that Zwart thought had the best handling. Two TiAL turbos and a lot of fettling make for a 3.8-liter flat-six with 700 horsepower, 700 pound-feet of torque and a 7,800-rpm redline. Zwart drove it to a heartbreaking second place this year, finishing less than 1.2 seconds behind the Time Attack 1 class winner when his car suffered its first mechanical issue of the week.
The first video below covers Besha, BBI and the build, the second is Zwart's run. As if the visuals weren't enough, sit back and enjoy the shrieking of the "Hill Climb Special," which is what the constellation Sirius would sound like if it could bark.
Porsche Cayenne GTS, base models revealed ahead of LA
Wed, 05 Nov 2014Porsche unveiled a slew of refreshed Cayennes just a few months ago, but the base model (right) and high-performance GTS trim (above) were conspicuously absent from that list. There's no more reason to wonder about them, though, because the German brand plans to unveil both at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19.
Sitting below the Turbo in the lineup, the latest GTS still offers plenty of performance. It drops the previous version's naturally aspirated V8 in favor of a tuned version of the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 from the Cayenne S for some added oomph. The tweaks bring power up to 440 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to rocket the model to 62 miles per hour in an estimated 5.2 seconds. The bump also equates to 20 hp and 39 lb-ft more than the current S and more importantly 20 hp and 62 lb-ft more than the previous GTS, according to Porsche.
In addition to the extra muscle, Porsche also decks the GTS out with some added features. It comes with a standard sport exhaust and Porsche Active Suspension Management system with an air suspension lets the chassis sit about three-quarters of an inch lower (20 millimeters). To bring things to a halt, the high-performance models also takes its brakes from the Turbo model.
