Knight Rider "kitt" Inspired Replica Trans-am on 2040-cars
Burbank, California, United States
This KITT inspired replica is exactly as it looks in the photos. It is gorgeous. It took several years to build, the parts came from Rob Louisell and others. I have body work done on the nose to make sure that is perfectly lined up to the finder. I have all kinds of electronics on this vehicle. It is a combo of both season cars and I added all kinds of electronics not on the show. IT IS FULLY FUNCTIONAL. The upper console and the lower console all have functions. I have a chart to illustrate what each button does. The conversion is complete and it is quite a looker when driving. I get stares all the time when I drove this car and everyone wanted pictures taken everywhere I went. Just to list a few of the things it has, I put in a police 128db speaker under the hood and it has a mic if you want to talk, or you can play knight rider music or any music through the speaker or you can play a jet engine sound through the engine while you are driving. The entire underbelly of the car glows blue with blue LED lights. I have a license plate rear camera, dvd/cd player, monitor rear view mirror, all the POD buttons speak the voices of the actual actor on TV, the dashboard is extremely bright with a dimming light for driving. I even have a remote control that allows the car to speak when you are away from it. It is a 1986 Pontiac Trans-Am with 30,000 original miles. It has never been in an accident, always kept in my garage, I had the entire car wet sanded so the paint looks like glass. The car does need a whole distributor because it stalls when I drive it at times. It needs to be driven more but I did not want to put miles on it. Please no emails on where I got the parts, can you make payment arrangements, etc... If you are interested then please make serious bids or contact me, I am always willing to negotiate but it must be reasonable. This is a very expensive toy for someone to own. It does not come cheap but it is not unreasonable either. |

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.
