2000 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird 450HP LS1 - many mods - $19000 (Lebanon)

2000 Pontiac Trans Am odometer: 68500 VIN: 2g2fv22g1y2144415 manual transmission

I can't believe I'm doing this, but I have for sale my 2000 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird. The car has 68,500 miles on it which is nothing for an LS1 with a 6 speed manual. The handling is probably more impressive then the 438HP engine to be honest. I have spent way more on this car then I will ever get out of it. Over $17000 in modifications. Everything is top of the line and well taken care of. I have 2 kids and simply just have put about 3000 miles on it the last 2 or 3 years. This car has been featured in 2 calendars as well. The cover of one of them. It is an awesome awesome performing machine. I took it to the track only 1 time in the fall to see what it could do. it hasn't been back since. I had it professionally tuned also so I have a dyno sheet.

I have a set of rear drag radials as well. Only used once, but I bought them used. The car will run low 12's. If setup properly you might get in 11's on a cool day.

I have a book with majority of all the receipts and records and history. Car has always been changed with Lucas oil and Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic. I ran 91 octane with injector cleaner every 10k miles. I change fuel filter every year regardless of miles. I also have had transmission fluid flushed twice. I am the second owner of it from what I'm told I bought it with 48k miles on it in 2007. The car was bone stock at that time. Car was tuned by a RPM Speed in Delaware.

I did the PCV conversion setup also with a Revxtreme catch can. The car practically burns no oil. I did a lot of research on this stuff and all mods were done regardless of cost to give it the best durability. I never thought I'd sell it, but so the story goes.

Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.
