I am selling a 1980 Trans Am-Firebird. It is the Indy edition and is registered at Indy. They only made 5700 of these cars. There is no telling how many are left on the road. This car is all original. Very low milage (69270). It has all the matching numbers. I have never seen one this clean and very good shape. This car is beautiful. This car has the 4.9 Liter with the Turbo. Also automatic. It comes with an am/fm/cassette with a booster switch, "NEW"a/c, heat, power steering ,intermit wipers, rear defrost, all four disc brakes and t-tops with storage bags. The carpet looks new.  It has the original spare and jack. It has a NEW dual exaust. The tires say Indy on them and has lots of tread left. The car has a new paint job and decals. All of it is factory specs. This car lines up and very tight and solid. The doors close really easy. They "DO NOT" hang like alot of them do. It rides really smooth with alot of power. I have the built sheet, orginal window sticker and appraisal from 2013. I am sure it's worth more now. There is a small oil leak. Very minor. The only reason why I am selling it is because I had (2) neck surgeries. I can't bend my neck to work on it. The car is to low and hard for me to get in and out. I really hate to sell this car. But I know it is the best thing to do. I would like someone else to enjoy this car. This car is a collectible that will go only up on the price. This is your chance to own one of these cars. I have the right to end this auction early, due to the fact this car is listed locally. If you have any questions, you can reach me @ 225-304-1225. Thanks and have a blessed day.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.

Airbag recall adds 85k Pontiac Vibes to tally

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The repairs needed for the faulty airbag inflators supplied by Takata continue to expand. Toyota initially announced a recall of 766,300 vehicles equipped with the bad part on June 11 as a followup to a campaign from 2013. Soon after, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into five automakers who also used the component in their models. Now, NHTSA has released the official announcement of the latest Toyota recall listing 844,277 affected cars, including the newly added 2003-2004 Pontiac Vibe.
While NHTSA's document didn't include a model-by-model breakdown, General Motors spokesperson Alan Adler estimated to Autoblog that roughly 85,000 Vibes in the US would be covered under the latest recall. Like the rest of the affected models, the airbag inflator could rupture in a crash causing the bag not to work correctly, possibly spraying metal fragments at the occupant.
Toyota spokesperson Cindy Knight told Autoblog that the reason for the disparity between the earlier press release and NHTSA document was that Toyota was continuing to comb through VINs to create a list of affected vehicles. The original number was an estimate of that process at the time. Scroll down to the recall report from NHTSA.
