1979 Pontiac Trans Am.....455 Engine ....t Tops......nice Car on 2040-cars
Athens, Tennessee, United States
Transmission:Automatic
Vehicle Title:Clear
Year: 1979
Sub Model: TRANS AM
Make: Pontiac
Exterior Color: SIERRA COPPER
Model: Trans Am
Interior Color: CAMEL TAN
Trim: TRANS AM
Number of Cylinders: V8
Drive Type: rear wheel
Warranty: Vehicle does NOT have an existing warranty
Mileage: 93,992
TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just too hard for both of us! ENGINE: The car was not born with the 455 engine, I don't think they came out in this car in 1979, a 455 fits perfect, all mounts and hardware fit like factory. The engine is stock, it has no knocks, no rattles, no blue smoke, no bad oil leaks, but it will leave drops on your clean floor, its just a old car thing.
TRANSMISSION: Its a Turbo 350 3 speed automatic, it works good with no slip. Its suppose to be built stronger, but I have no documentation.
EXHAUST: Stock exhaust manifolds, the system is not new, but good, it has a good mellow sound.
REAREND: It a 10 bolt with no grinds or growls, I have not checked the ratio, but its a good highway gearing, it not real low. It feels like a positive traction, but I have not checked it.
INTERIOR: Good interior with no bad smells, the headliner is good, the carpet and seats look good, the dash has a soft cover on top because of some cracks, I have a new hard cover ordered.
T TOPS: The glass is clear and in good condition, the rubber weather stripping is decent.
GLASS: The windshield looks new, the side window are power and work decent. Drivers window has minor scuffs from going up and down of the years.
BODY: No rust issues, no rusted holes and I did not see even 1 bubble. The underside is solid, but not detailed beautiful, I only seen 1 rusty edge of some floor sheet metal, its a real good body.
PAINT: I love the sierra copper paint, well I thinks it sierra copper. The paint has a brilliant shine, its a nice paint job, but not a 100 point show car paint job. If you inspect you will find some little roughness on the top of the drivers fender, its like a rough orange peel and small areas. The car looks real good it just not perfect and I'm not asking a perfect car price.
BRAKES: Good, they are power assisted, disc in front.
STEERING: The car drives good, it is power steering.
WHEELS AND TIRES: The wheels are original Pontiac snow flake. The tires Firestone Firehawks and they have lots of wear left.
LIGHTS: I think they are work, even the interior dome light.
GAUGES: They work, even the tachometer.
SPEEDOMETER IS WORKING, HORN IS WORKING.
This was and original Air Conditioned car, the parts from the firewall forward are gone.

PAPERWORK: I know what to do! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the car “come look”. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in
TRANSPORT US OR EXPORT “I like Nations Auto Transport. They are located in Contact: Jim Page his office number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com
MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car. I will take paypal for the deposit, but not for full payment. Option 1: Pay the old school way face to face. Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the check clears, I have had a fake bank certified check. Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a member of the transfer. And its safe for both of us. WILL I HOLD THE CAR UNTIL YOU GET HERE TO LOOK OR HAVE IT INSPECTED? Its good business for both of us the take a deposit. A $250 deposit locks it in for you! I have held too many cars that people promise me they are going to buy and they never show up, their wife won’t let them buy it, they can’t get a loan or they just back out. Before you drive or fly a long distance you need to make sure the car is not sold. “The way I look at it is until you pay a deposit you’re just looking and dreaming”. INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 67 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors have to be very critical to cover their back sides. I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first! BOTTOM LINE: Sorry, but my price is $15,000 I'm asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down. Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info. Thank You, Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com
I am very careful about taking payment, I have had a fake certified check, it looked real and the buyer seemed real. I will take one, but I will check you out. I am ebay varified, that means you can buy ebays buyer protection plan and they will guarantee thats I'm real, they will not guarantee the car.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am
Mon, 13 May 2013No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series
Mon, 10 Mar 2014NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
