Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]

Fri, 26 Aug 2011

You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.

DESCRIPTION
It was a sad time for performance enthusiast in the early 1970’s. New regulations and emission controls choked out the Big 3’s power outputs. A 400hp motor in 1970 was now a 190hp motor in 1972. Lucky for us however, the engineers at Pontiac wanted to keep the excitement of driving alive. They dreamt of a Trans Am that would not only out perform any other American offering but could also dominate exotics like Ferrari. In 1973 the Trans Am Super Duty was born. Sold in very limited production and packed with a special 455ci V8 the car was said to produce 290hp, but the torque was an astonishing 390 lb-ft. Lasting only 2 years the 455SD marked the end of the Muscle Car era. 1974 was also the last year for true dual exhaust as catalytic converters came into play, the fiberglass front end would be replaced with larger impact bumpers the following year. Not all was bad however, the famous slotted tail lights made their first appearance and if you couldn’t afford the $537 Super Duty option a 225hp 400ci and a 250hp 455ci where also available.

The 1974 Pontiac Trans Am you see here was born with a L75 455ci V8 and automatic transmission. During its complete Frame-Off Nut and Bolt Restoration the car was upgraded to Super Duty Appearance and Performance. The Car retains its original numbers matching 455ci V8 engine block! The engine was rebuilt with ported heads and Super Duty internals, bringing it to better than new performance figures all the while looking completely original and stock!! The Borg Warner 4-Speed transmission and heavy duty clutch were also added at this time. The car features rebuilt suspension including a limited slip Posi-Traction rear end. New shocks, new body mounts, new bushings, new engine & transmission mounts and so on.

Finished in its factory code correct Buccaneer Red with factory code correct Custom Black Interior. The car also features factory Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Center Console, Soft Ray Glass, Rally II Wheels, remote mirror, color coded sport mirrors, day/night interior mirror, leather wrapped wheel, full gauge package, Pypes Race Pro stainless steel exhaust system, original space saver spare tire, jack and tire inflator can. Sold new at Hendrickson Pontiac in Villa Park, IL the car is well documented with original owners manual, maintenance and emissions booklets, and full PHS docs.

The car is in amazingly wonderful condition and would be a proud addition to any collection or a great start to one. It is a factory Trans Am 455ci car with extensive upgrades to become a car that is almost unobtainable! The details will fool even the strongest Pontiac critics and experts into believing it is an original! The performance is unmatched and this car is an absolute thrill ride!! It pushes you back in the seat in any gear, but also hugs corners and stops with the best! The car was completed in approximately 2009 and was sparsely driven but professionally cared for since. The paint, decals, interior, trim and furthermore, are of the highest caliber and were done professionally! The car is very solid now and was so before its restoration, as evident by the original factory spot welds on the body and undercarriage. The car is very well detailed inside and out and is ready for the next owner to show and enjoy! Please contact us with any questions you have about the car. International World Wide shipping is also available and we are happy to assist in transportation arrangements if needed!
