1968 Pontiac Firebird Base Coupe 2-door 5.7l 350ci ***no Reserve*** on 2040-cars

Year:1968 Mileage:88712 Color: rear view mirror are not yet installed
Location:

Saint Louis, Missouri, United States

Saint Louis, Missouri, United States

Up for auction is a 4-speed 1968 Firebird with a small-block 350 engine and Cragar wheels.  This car runs and drives great.  I am selling the car because I am moving to another country for work and will not be able to store the car in the U.S.  I have had a lot of work done to this car over the past few years so here is a list:

Rebuilt transmission with less than 100 miles on it (4-speed manual Saginaw)
New floor pans and floor work
New interior carpet
New rear seat shelf
New headliner
New sail panels
New radiator
New thermostat
New battery tray
New hoses
New window cranks
New seat belts
New front, side, and rear moldings
New sill plates
New emergency brake system
New radiator fan and fan belt
Miscellaneous (spark plugs and wires, fuses, battery cables, coil pack, etc.)

New parts purchased but not yet installed:
Lock cylinders (ignition, driver and passenger doors, trunk)
Rear side panels (interior)
Armrest pads
Dome lamp
Part of the ignition key broke off inside the ignition lock cylinder, so I bought a new lock cylinder but didn't get time to install it. The same goes for the lock cylinder on the trunk. I still use the broken keys to start the car or open the trunk, but I'll give you the new lock cylinders so you can install them if you want. I also purchased new lock cylinders for the driver and passenger side door since one of the lock cylinders doesn't work.  I bought brand new rear side panels for the interior but didn't get the chance to install them, so I will give them to the winning bidder as well.  The current dome lamp works but I have a brand new one I'll be giving you as well.  I have a used pair of armrests and a brand new pair of armrest pads that are not yet installed as well.  The winning bidder will receive all of these new parts, some of which are still in the box they came in when I bought them.  I buy almost all of my parts from Classic Industries.

The floor:
The floor is solid and ready to go.  I invested thousands to make sure it was in tip-top shape.  I had the work done by a shop that has a lot of experience with classic cars and hot rods.  Every time they encountered an issue with the floor and asked me what to do, I had them fix it.  I can give you the name of the shop in case you'd like to reach out to them.

Videos of the car:
The engine starting and running http://youtu.be/v3fZwvZcQ9g
The body of the car http://youtu.be/lSa6ac3ynrM
The interior of the car http://youtu.be/hGNZTODqMBM

Receipts:
I've kept all the receipts and can provide them upon request.  I would also be happy to provide you with the name and phone number of my mechanic, who gave the car a tune-up last month.

Issues:
Most of the work that remains to be done has to do with the fenders, rocker panels, paint job, etc.  (see the video I made for close-ups of the body)
Here are some additional things:
Gauges aren't working
Back tail light burnt out
Headlights aren't working
No windshield wiper blades
No radio
The interior rear view mirror and driver side exterior rear view mirror are not yet installed (I have them here but haven't put them on yet-- I will give them to the winning bidder)
Tear in driver's seat

Photos/videos:
I am including a large number of photos as well as videos of the car so you can have a pretty good idea of what it's like before you bid.  Also, you are welcome to come out for a test drive before you buy the car.

$200 Deposit required:
I am requesting a $200 deposit within 24 hours of the auction close to ensure the winning bidder is serious, with no exceptions.  I am moving out of the country and cannot afford to deal with non-paying bidders or people who just want to kick the tires.

Let me know if you have questions about the vehicle.  The car is in the St. Louis region and you are welcome to come out and see it anytime before the auction closes.
Good luck in the auction!

Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
