Super Rare 1988 Mirage Turbo.  This was the last year for this generation and remaining 1987's were tagged at 1988's.  If you're looking at this auction, you know exactly how rare this vehicle is.  I purchased this car in Arizona and it's completely RUST FREE, and that is unheard of for this particular generation of Colts and Mirages.  It's been re-sprayed in the factory white.  The motor was completely rebuilt and a new factory turbo purchased by the original owner and never installed, was installed.  New tires, shocks, brakes, windshield, window tint were also installed.  The fuel tank was removed and boiled and cleaned back to the original steel.  The underside is in outstanding condition.  Original seats are in great shape, the carpet is ok and could probably be swapped out at some time in the future.  I have a ton of extra parts.  The drivers side arm rest will need to be addressed.  I have extra headlights and a ton of various other parts, plus the original wheels.  It's slick shifting, pulls hard.  Some very minor dings and dents.  As with most Japanese steel, it's not know for its strength.  I purchased this car because a friend of mine had two when we were in high school.  I used to love driving it then and so I went on the search for the holy grail.  After several years, I came across this one.  It was owned by a mechanic for Mitsubishi in Arizona.  It was dead and I brought it back to life.  It's a blast to drive, but I also own 6 other cars and I want to start the search for a 1988 Fiero GT/Yellow/T-tops/5 speed with low miles.  Happy bidding.

Mitsubishi previews new Attrage global sedan

Tue, 21 May 2013

It's been about a month since we first saw the Mitsubishi Concept G4 at the Shanghai Motor Show, but now the automaker has revealed the first images for the sedan in production trim. Wearing the Mitsubishi Attrage nameplate, this sedan will go on sale this summer in Thailand and could eventually makes its way to the US. Despite being essentially a sedan version of its subcompact Mirage, Mitsubishi refers to the Attrage as its next-generation global compact sedan, suggesting it's a fair bit larger than its hatchback counterpart.
We only have this single image to go on, but the new Attrage obviously has the same overall look as the Concept G4. As expected, it does lose some of the more conceptual bits, including the fancy headlights, grills and wheels. While the styling has us thinking back to the late 1990s, the true advantage of the Attrage is likely to be its fuel consumption. US fuel economy for the Attrage hasn't been released, but the closely related 2014 Mirage is expected to return 37 miles per gallon in the city and 44 mpg on the highway using the same 1.2-liter inline four-cylinder engine paired with either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission. Scroll down for the brief press release for the Thai-built Attrage.

Mitsubishi reveals mid-term plans including redesigned pickup, SUV and new PHEVs

Tue, 12 Nov 2013

Struggling automaker Mitsubishi seems adamant that it will soldier on across the globe. Just last week, we told you how the brand would begin selling a pair of rebadged, Korean-built, Renault-Samsung sedans in the US market, and now comes an official statement from Mitsubishi about a mid-term business plan called "New Stage 2016."
As part of the plan, a number of products not sold in the US, like the Triton pickup, Pajero Sport SUV and Delica D:5 will be new or significantly updated, while we'll be seeing a second-generation Outlander Sport within the next few years. Some of these new or updated models may be previewed at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. There will also be an increased focus on the brand's plug-in hybrid technology.
In fact, that technology will play a big role in Mitsubishi's revitalization, as it rolls out its own competitor to Honda's Earth Dreams and Mazda's Skyactiv technology, called @earth Technology (yes, seriously). It's unclear if @earth Technology will develop into an overarching philosophy like Mazda has done with Skyactiv, but with Mitsubishi pushing so hard with hybrids and EVs - part of its deal for those Renault-Samsung sedans was that it would develop EV tech with Nissan-Renault - if we did see an @earth Technology badge on a car, we'd wager that it'd be powered, to some degree, by electricity.

Mitsubishi Mirage configurator is alive

Thu, 03 Oct 2013

Well, here's the butter knife Mitsubishi is bringing to the subcompact gun fight. It's called the Mirage, and its configurator has just gone live on Mitsubishi's consumer page, allowing those that absolutely must have a brand-new car for not a lot of money (and have never heard of the Nissan Versa, Mazda2, Chevrolet Spark or Ford Fiesta) to build their perfect example.
Prices start at $12,995 for a base DE model with a five-speed manual transmission and $14,195 for the up-market ES with the same transmission. A 74-horsepower, 1.2-liter engine is the sole powerplant. Both trims feature a continuously variable transmission for an extra $1,000 and a range of eight exterior colors, while black is the sole interior color.
Fully loaded with all the assorted packages - there are 10 on the ES model, adding things like navigation, a backup camera and LED ambient lights - the Mirage checks out at $19,540. Feel free to have a go at the configurator yourself.
