For sale is a classic Mercedes-Benz 560SL with only 63,480 original miles! This car is beautiful inside and out. The 560SL is accident free and has a clean Carfax. It comes in one of its most elegant, RARE sought after color combinations Champaign Metallic exterior with Tan interior. It is truly a beautiful and elegant car! The paint is really nice and looks deep rich and shiny. There are no scratches, dings, dents or damage. There are a few minor chips in the paint that have been touched up with the factory color. This is a super nice car and you really have to try hard to find any imperfections. The soft top is original German cloth and is in excellent shape with clear windows. The original interior is in great condition and shows only very minimal signs of wear. There is some slight wear on the corner of the rear carpet which is normal for the age of the car. This dash is also original with no fading or cracking. All wood parts and trim look very beautiful with no cracking or peeling. The rims look brand new and the tires have plenty of life left. This Mercedes has no known mechanical issues at all! The a/c is ice cold and the steering is very tight. The 560SL drives and shifts very smooth like you would expect from a low mileage classic Mercedes-Benz. You can tell this 560sl was well cared for and meticulously maintained. XCAR marks 20-year anniversary of Senna's passing with Mercedes 190E Cosworth
Thu, 01 May 2014While the automotive world is focusing on the twentieth anniversary of Ayrton Senna's death, there was much, much more to the legendary driver than his untimely passing at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix.
XCAR has the story of a younger Senna, who, by a stroke of luck, found himself matched up against a veritable dream team of nine Formula One champions, not to mention a cadre of German touring car aces. A "probably still pissed (drunk)" James Hunt, hard-driving Niki Lauda and future champion and rival Alain Prost, were in attendance for the one-off, spec race, which was put on by Mercedes-Benz, in honor of the opening of the Nürburgring's Grand Prix circuit. And Senna was on hand with the explicit goal of besting them all.
Each driver was handed a lightly modified, but brand-new 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth, a car that can best be though of as the distant ancestor of the lovable C63 AMG. As for the race itself, well, it was sort of like an introduction of what the sport could come to expect from the Brazilian.
Erebus Motorsport Mercedes E-Class V8 Supercar completes the field [w/videos]
Sat, 23 Feb 2013Ford, Holden and Nissan introduced their V8 Supercar challengers a while back. Erebus Motorport, whose racing program got the green light not even 120 days ago, has finally shown off the Mercedes-Benz E-Class racer that will complete this year's field of entries. The first AMG race car ever to be built outside of Germany, it's an Australian-built tube-frame chassis specced to the series' Car of Tomorrow rules, fitted with body panels that channel the E63 AMG.
Supported by AMG Customer Motorsport, the 5.0-liter engine is provided by HWA in Germany, the racing arm of AMG. Regulations dictate that it have roughly 650 horsepower, a redline between 7,000 and 7,500 rpm and a torque curve that matches the parity baseline set for all cars.
Lee Holdsworth, Tim Slade and Maro Engel will drive the three team cars, each with different sponsors. Their first showing will be at the Clipsal 500 on March 3 in Adelaide, here in the US we'll get to see them in May at the Circuit of the Americas. Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG officially teased in mini video
Mon, 15 Jul 2013The followup to the Mercedes-Benz S550, the S63 AMG, will sport a biturbocharged V8 that will likely turn out around 550 horsepower. The new engine is probably the 5.5-liter, biturbocharged V-8 that's been popping up in everything from the ML63 to the E63 AMG. The front fascia is more aggressive, which shouldn't come as a surprise, while a meaty exhaust setup can be found out back.
We managed to pick all that up from a short, 17-second video posted by MB. The original video that unveiled the S63 AMG has since been pulled down, making this YouTube clip the best look we now have at the new super sedan, at least until the Germans give up the goods for real.
