This is the most significant damage on the car there are also various nicks & dents from parking lot dings. The car is in overall very good shape cosmetically, mechanically the car is perfect! Runs extremely well, gets great gas mileage, A/C & heat work well. CD player with AM/FM stereo, power door locks, power windows."

This is 2008 Mazda3 which I purchased  1 year ago (august 2012) for my daughter's first car. My daughter has gone away to college and could not take the car with her due to lack of campus parking and could not afford public parking. It was purchased from a local used car dealer, the car is mechanically perfect and runs extremely well along with getting great gas mileage. The only flaws with the car are cosmetic as it is almost 6 years old. There are various dings, & small dents, & scratches which were already on the vehicle when I purchased it. The most significant damage is to the right side rocker panel underneath the front & rear passenger doors. Again this damage was already there it does not affect the operation of the doors. As this was a first car for my daughter, I wasn't as concerned with the cosmetics as much as I was with the mechanical reliability of the car. It is a sound reliable, & economical car, my wife & I are still driving it so please expect the mileage to be a bit higher. We are still selling it locally & I reserve the right to pull this listing at anytime.

Mazda Miata 'fathers' Hall and Case offer a tour through the roadster's history

Wed, 10 Sep 2014

The original Mazda Miata broke onto the automotive scene in 1989 and was a huge success. However, the convertible's genesis goes all the way back to the early '80s. Bob Hall and Dean Case were among the inside men of the program on the US side, and they were on hand at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the recent MX-5 event there to tell some of their stories about the project's beginning.
Hall was on the Miata project from very early on, and one of his most fascinating stories is how the convertible got its shape. The droptop wasn't necessarily going to be a rear-wheel drive roadster. There were both front-wheel-drive coupe and mid-engine concepts being considered. In fact, the classic look of the NA generation was the least favorite of the three at the sketch stage.
Hall comes off as a jokester hiding a genius mind. He has a fountain of information in his head about what a Miata should be, but it all comes down to "less is more." However, he admits that it's easy to conceive that idea, but it's much harder to actually execute it well.

2014 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]

Tue, 10 Dec 2013

The 2014 North American International Auto Show is right around the corner, which means it's high time we found out which cars and trucks would be finalists for the prestigious North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards.
The finalists - three in cars and three in three trucks/utilities - are dominated by American brands, with two-thirds of the finalists hailing from either General Motors or Chrysler (don't worry Ford, there's always next year), while outliers from Mazda and Acura can be found in each contest. Here now is the list of finalists for the big prizes:

Mazda poaches designer Kevin Rice back from BMW

Wed, 30 Oct 2013

Kevin Rice left Mazda a baker's dozen years ago, but now he's back.
A graduate of the Transportation Design program at Coventry University (just across town from Jaguar headquarters), Rice worked his way up in the industry working for the likes of Opel and Italdesign Giugiaro before landing a job at Mazda. Between 1995 and 2000, he collaborated on such projects as the RX-8 and the 1999 Neospace concept that previewed the Mazda2 before moving on to BMW, where the new 3 Series and 4 Series were among the last projects he worked on during his 13-year tenure in Munich.
Now back at Mazda, Rice has been named the Japanese automaker's new creative director, charged with further honing the brand's KODO design language from its European headquarters in Oberursel, Germany. We're looking forward to seeing what he and his design team come up with in the coming years.
