05 Town Car Exec L Black On Black Runs And Looks Good. on 2040-cars
Kerhonkson, New York, United States
2005 LINCOLN TOWN CAR EXECUTIVE L I'm selling this car because we are upgrading to new vehicles. It was bought new by a company about an hour from Newark NJ. and they ran it for the first 250k miles. I purchased it from them and it has been used mostly for airports and we are located 2 hours north of NYC so most of the mileage is highway. The car has some minor dents as seen in the pictures but is in good condition for the year and mileage. It shows very nicely. The interior is in good shape with little wear. It is an L model so there is extra rear legroom as well as radio controls and front passenger seat control in the rear. Mechanically it's in good condition. It has been off the road for about 6 weeks. the brakes are good but have some surface rust. The engine runs great and the tranny shifted smooth when it was in service.(it should still but is unregistered so I can't test drive at highway speed) The only thing I've noticed is the steering is a little tight. I oiled the steering knuckles and it got better, however there is a recall on them that I have not had done that Ford will do for free. I think that will fix the slight tightness. Front tires are snows with about 50% or better on them. The rears are new with only about 2k miles on. This car could be put on the road tomorrow for use, but I would recommend scheduling the recall as soon as possible. |

Lincoln to resurrect old nameplates for China?
Wed, 04 Dec 2013Judging by the success that many luxury automakers are currently experiencing in China, it's no surprise that Lincoln plans to take advantage of the situation by peddling its wares across the Pacific. Lincoln will open its first Chinese dealership next year, but potential buyers there won't be mucking through the same alphabet soup of car names found in American showrooms. USA Today reports that Ford's luxury car division could revert back to legacy names (like Continental and Zephyr) in China while keeping the MK_ names here in North America.
In speaking to Ford exec Jim Farley during the LA Auto Show, USA Today says that Lincoln could switch its naming structure as models are refreshed. Farley didn't confirm that the naming revamp would be a China-only decision, but article leaves little hope that American buyers will get to see the return of classic names anytime soon.
Why would Ford rehash old Lincoln names for China only? Buyers there seem to have a better historical associations with the nameplates than in the US. Chinese also still hold Lincoln in high regard, associating the marque with use by prominent government officials.
Lincoln bringing in MKZ Hybrid over rollaway risk
Mon, 30 Dec 2013Federal safety standards require that every new car needs to have the brake depressed in order to shift it out of Park. But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has found fault in the transmission range sensor on certain examples of the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid, allowing the car to be shifted out of Park without first depressing the brake. The fear is that with this condition, affected vehicles may be unintentionally pulled out of Park, resulting in a possible rollaway. That safety concern has prompted parent Ford Motor Company to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to 7,153 examples of the MKZ Hybrid built between April 26, 2012 and September 24, 2013, covering the 2013 and 2014 model years. As a result, Ford will notify owners to bring their MKZs into their local Lincoln dealer to have the Powertrain Control Module software updated in order to rectify the problem. See the full recall notice below for details.
2013 Lincoln MKZ [w/video]
Fri, 07 Dec 2012Rebranding When Reinvention Is Requisite
Lincoln - pardon us, the Lincoln Motor Company - assures us that Ford is committed to its success. The awkwardness of the statement (which feels vaguely like your mother telling you that she loves and supports you regardless of what everyone else thinks) was hard to escape when we recently spent a few days with the all-new second-generation 2013 Lincoln MKZ.
Launched earlier this year at the 2012 New York Auto Show, the MKZ is a midsize premium sedan that shares platforms with the Ford Fusion (also all-new for 2013). The sedan's primary competitors, according to Lincoln, include the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CTS and Lexus ES Series sedans - each an established, accomplished player.
