1978 Lincoln Mark V Base Coupe 2-door 7.5l on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States
We are offering for your consideration a stunning 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V. this is a very nice original car never restored. This car was purchased and owned by a man in San Antonio Texas who kept it in excellent condition and garage kept. I purchased it as a small project and never got around to it. The previous owner put on 4 new tires and had the carburetor rebuilt. This vehicle is accident free, has a very smooth and tight ride, and has a powerful and smooth-idling 460 cubic inch, V-8 engine with only 54,118 original miles. The only thing not working when I bought it was the clock. Cosmetically there are some small issues with the car. Most notably, in the pictures, are the spots of rust on the surface paint. There will also be some small dings/scratches about the body common with a vehicle with this kind of mileage being driven. The frame will have some surface rust on it as well. The headlight doors do not hold vacuum longer than 3 days. The vacuum canisters or hoses likely need to be replaced. The interior is in great shape. The car is here at my home in the driveway with a car cover on it. It needs the battery charged, I am glad to do that. Probably needs what little gas it has in it purged and replaced before starting. It will pass a state inspection and I have a clear title on it.
Driving this 1978 Lincoln Mark V is like floating on a cloud. A very luxurious car that turns heads. It’s a solid car that gets attention. And the yellow body and chrome really makes it shine! Conclusion: This 1978 Lincoln is a beautiful luxury car! Just think about yourself in the comfy driver's seat cruising down the road. This car is a true survivor and a smart investment. Please call me @ 713-661-2551 or email me with any questions. More pictures are available upon request. An inspection can be arranged by appointment only. If the car needs to be shipped, we will ensure the car is available for the transporter's schedule. |

RWD Lincolns are coming, fate depends partly on MKZ success
Tue, 04 Dec 2012The product portfolio at Lincoln may seem a bit sparse at the moment, but if a report is to be believed, new products are on the way. TheDetroitBureau.com spoke with sources at Lincoln and Ford, who claimed the American premium brand is working on, perhaps more than one, rear-wheel-drive vehicle.
Lincoln would likely platform-share with the next-generation Ford Mustang to develop those RWD offerings in the early going. Moving forward, the report indicates that Lincoln could take the lead on other rear-drive projects in the future. As the RWD architecture continues to take shape, "most or all" of the front-wheel-drive portfolio will also be offered with all-wheel drive as an option, ala Audi.
But wait, there's more! The report also suggests that a replacement for the full-size MKS is on the way, as well as a new Navigator and a luxury crossover based on the current Ford Escape.
Five vehicles named Top Safety Pick+ including new Civic, MKZ
Fri, 08 Mar 2013In an attempt to help push vehicle safety to a higher level, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety created a stricter Top Safety Pick+ rating last year, which incorporates a brutal small overlap test and requires cars to get Good ratings in four out of the five categories (and no less than Acceptable in the fifth). Joining the list of the safest cars of 2013, the 2013 Volvo XC60, Lincoln MKZ, Honda Civic (sedan and coupe) and the 2014 Mazda6 have all received the coveted TSP+ rating.
The Mazda6 and Lincoln MKZ have both been completely redesigned, and both received Acceptable ratings in the small overlap test. The Honda Civic, coming off its emergency refresh for 2013, is the first small car to be subjected to the small overlap test, and IIHS says that one of the car's many upgrades includes a stiffer front structure allowing it to receive Good ratings in all categories. Similarly, the XC60 gets all Good ratings thanks to, according to IIHS, Volvo updating the airbag software allowing the side airbags to inflate during the small overlap test.
The 2014 Subaru Forester has not yet been subjected to the small overlap test, so it must make do with just a Top Safety Pick rating until the IIHS tests small utility vehicles, which is expected to happen later in the spring.
Lincoln Navigator facelift only has to last until 2016 replacement
Thu, 21 Aug 2014The Navigator is not only Lincoln's longest-serving nameplate - dating back to 1998 when the final Town Car was introduced - but it's also the oldest model still in the brand's portfolio. The current Navigator arrived on the market in 2007, and underwent a refresh just a few months ago for the 2015 model year. The updates were subtle, but if you're waiting for an all-new model, it's just a couple of years down the road.
According to Automotive News, Lincoln is already working on an all-new replacement for the current, long-serving Navigator, which will be revealed two years from now in the middle of 2016 as a 2017 model. At that point, we're expecting it could switch (alongside the Expedition) to the new aluminum architecture introduced on the Ford F-150, seeing as how the current model is based on the old F-150.
In the meantime, the refreshed Navigator ditches the big 5.4-liter Triton V8 in favor of a more economical 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and wages war in two wheelbase lengths against the V8-powered competition in the form of the Cadillac Escalade (and Escalade ESV), the Land Cruiser-based Lexus LX and the Infiniti QX80, which is based on the overseas Nissan Patrol.
