1956 Continental Mark II For Sale.  Excellent Driver Car - not a show car by any means, but a great car which presents itself very well and draws a crowd wherever it goes.

I have a 3 inch binder full of receipts for work done on the car - over $43,000.00 worth of receipts.  These cars are not cheap to fix or restore, so best to get one that has had most of the work done on it.  This car has had a LOT of little things done to it, which would nickel and dime you to death on a car needing a restoration.  Chrome work is excellent, hubcaps excellent, as is most of the car.  Underside of car is very solid and rust free, and has not been undercoated or caked over to cover any rust issues - car has been a Florida and Georgia car, and is very solid.

Original Town and Country radio has been converted to am/fm - maintaining the original look.  Factory A/C car - blows cool sometimes, but not for long so it will need some attention.  Car drives great, and I try to take it every month to a show 150+ miles round trip from me to stretch her legs.  Car is driven weekly to keep all fluids circulating - it is leaking some oil when parked.  Lot of work has been done on this car, but like most old cars, it will always need a thing or two.

Paint is about 15 years old and is starting to show some wear/cracks in spots, but everyone tells me she still looks beautiful.  Panels in front will need to be re-aligned (this is a very common issue with these cars), but still looks good.  Driver door swung open on me taking a sharp right turn while going downhill (I didn't close the door all the way), and broke the door stopper and the door creased the front fender, so that will need to be repaired - could possibly be popped back out.  I still take it to shows like this, and being white it does not show too much until I point it out to people.  I have provided MANY MANY detailed, close up photos below for full disclosure, so please allow them to load.

This is just a great looking Continental Mark II which you will be proud to own - nothing quite like a white Continental Mark II to show her beautiful body lines.  I might consider trades - never know - I traded my Ferrari for this car several years back, so I'm open to trades.  Really just a very elegant, understated car that gets compliments wherever it goes - from young and old alike.

Please see the many photos below.  Email or Call, if you have any questions.  Car is located outside of Fort Lauderdale, FL.  I will not take less than the Buy it Now posted, so any emails offering less will be politely ignored.  Call 630 - Two Four Four - Five Six Six Seven.

Below is the crease from when the door swung open and broke the door stopper.

Seal needs to be glued again:

Ford issues four recalls covering 163k vehicles

Tue, 19 Aug 2014

Recalls! 2014 will be forever remembered as the year that automakers went recall crazy, with millions and millions of vehicles adding up to crush previous recall records well before the end of the year. Adding to that tally is Ford, which announced a call-back for 163,000 vehicles.
Leading that charge are the 2.0-liter, EcoBoost four-cylinder engines of the Ford Focus ST and Ford Escape. 160,000 of the 2013 and 2014 models have bad wiring harnesses that can disrupt the signals traveling to the powertrain control module. That, in turn, could lead to a check engine light, reduced power and stalling. Notably, Ford hasn't recalled any other vehicles that feature the 2.0 EcoBoost, such as the Fusion, Taurus or Explorer.
While the Focus ST and Escape constitute the vast majority of recalled vehicles, they aren't the only problem children in the Ford family. 1,300 Transit passenger vans from model year 2015 were recalled due to brake fluid leaks, while another 600 Transit cargo variants were recalled after Ford discovered the windowless sliding doors could come open in the event of a side-impact crash. Dealers will replace the sealing washers on the passenger variants and add a reinforcement plate on the cargo models, The Detroit News reports.

J Mays retiring from Ford design, succeeded by Moray Callum

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum.
It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry. Before heading to Dearborn, Mays worked for Audi, BMW and then Volkswagen, where he was involved in concept cars that paved the way for design icons like the first-generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen New Beetle. As for his Ford resume, it's extensive.
Mays joined the company in 1997 as design director for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda, as well as the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin). He was heavily involved in the Ford Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, F-150 and Mustang, while also contributing to concept cars like the Atlas, Evos, 427, Forty-Nine, Shelby GR-1, Lincoln MKZ and the MKC.

Lincoln MKC crossover headed for Detroit

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Fresh off the launch of the stylish new MKZ sedan, the newly named Lincoln Motor Company is reportedly preparing for a lineup expansion. According to TheDetroitBureau.com, the first new product joining the Lincoln brand is a small crossover based on the Ford Escape said to be called the MKC. We saw this machine testing a few months ago, and while we were hoping the name might be reserved for a future two-door model or even the diminutive Concept C hatchback, it looks like the "C" will stand for compact crossover instead.
The report also says that this crossover will be making its debut next month at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, so we'll have to wait until then to see what the new model looks like. Unlike the MKX, which is based off the Ford Edge, we would expect there to be a lot more differentiation between the MKC and the Escape like Ford managed to do with the newest Fusion and MKZ.
In addition to the new MKC, the article states new MKS and Navigator designs are expected to debut by 2014.
