2008 Kia Spectra LX. Nice low mileage car with only 63,500 miles. Car looks runs and drives excellent. There are no issues with the car and it is 100% ready to go. It has a fresh oil change, new air filter, new wiper blades, new transmission, and 4 new tires. All lights and electrical systems function properly. No check engine lights or other warning light problems. It runs and drives excellent and has no drivability issues. We drove the car from Evansville Indiana to Indianapolis last weekend and it got right at 30 MPG at 75 - 80 MPH. I'm not a car dealer, but I took this car in on trade. It needed a transmission, so I found one with only 2,000 miles on it and installed it (documentation available). The previous owner replaced the front tires, but the rear tires were worn too. I couldn't find the same brand tire, so the rear tires are a different brand.The seats do have a few very light spots (not very noticeable) that could be cigarette burns. Is Kia working on a sporty convertible?
Mon, 03 Jun 2013It's been a number of years since we last heard rumors about a drop-top Kia, but as the South Korean automaker continues to grow into new segments, why not stir things up again? Fan site Kia-world.net got its hands on what is claimed to be an exclusive drawing (click to enlarge) of the Kia Pro_cee'd GT Cabrio.
This rendering looks exactly like what we'd picture a topless version of the three-door hatchback to look like, but until there's any official information, we'll keep this filed under "we'll believe it when we see it." The idea of a Kia convertible sounds good to us, especially if it looks like this, but we're still waiting for the sporty model that lead designer Peter Schreyer said could happen "sooner or later" back in 2010.
Kia design chief Peter Schreyer named Hyundai-Kia President
Fri, 28 Dec 2012Automotive News reports Peter Schreyer has been appointed the first non-Korean president of Hyundai-Kia Motor Group. Schreyer is expected to retain his role as the chief designer for Kia, while also taking on new, high-level executive duties. He is now one of three presidents at the automaker.
The designer made a name for himself at Volkswagen, where he penned the 1998 New Beetle and lent his eye to the Audi TT. In 2006, Schreyer moved to Kia, where he quickly revised the brand's styling from bland, forgettable lines to bold, "tiger nose" creations. Analysts attribute much of the brand's recent sales success to Schreyer's influence.
Kia is expected to move 2.75 million units worldwide next year, while sister company Hyundai will likely beat its 2012 sales forecast of 4.29 million units, according to CFO Lee Won Hee.
Senator calling for answers from Hyundai and Kia over MPG debacle
Fri, 30 Nov 2012Hyundai and Kia have already gone public with plans to make good on the inflated fuel economy claims scandal that has rocked both companies in recent weeks. But one US senator, Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), is skeptical that the general public will see much good from the proposal, and he's looking for answers.
To recap: Hyundai/Kia have agreed to compensate owners of 900,000 affected vehicles for real versus previously claimed fuel mileage (as well as adding in a one- fifteen-percent premium), by way of pre-loaded debit cards. It has been speculated that this payout could crest $100 million by the time the Korean automakers are done writing checks.
Said Rockefeller to The Detroit News, "While I believe this is a positive step, I am concerned that many affected customers may not learn about the program or may find it burdensome to participate in the program." Rockefeller would reportedly like to see a monitoring system for the paybacks more clearly defined, with the goal being as many wronged car buyers as possible getting the recompense that they're due.
