2003 Jeep Wrangler, 4X4, white with tan interior.  4.0 straight six, automatic, A/C, P/S, P/B, Cruise, AM/FM C.D. Original alloy wheels with tires having 80% remaining tread. Spares never been on the ground. Factory side steps. TWO TOPS, factory hardtop and brand new soft top. The soft top has removable side and rear windows with a hinged flip back front section. Also includes storage bag for soft top and  storage cart for hardtop with retainer bar to keep rear window secure during storage making this an unusually complete package.

This was originally from the Southwest and is rust free. My wife purchased it as a toy in July 2011 with 48,000 original miles in good overall condition. Owing that she planned to keep it for along time, plus exposure to the harsh desert heat, I went through it extensively and replaced and/or rebuilt everything indicated below.

TIRES: Set of 5 B.F. Goodrich All-Terrain T/A's.

BRAKES: New rotors and drums, pads, calipers, rear shoes with all attaching hardware, front and rear rubber brake hoses and master cylinder. All were top quality OEM parts, none were the cheap Chinese junk sold at chain parts stores.

REAR COIL SPRINGS: New Moog compensating units, rubber mounting pads and bounce bumpers.

STEERING & SUSPENSION: New MOOG track bar and tie rods including all ball joints. All greaseable. Set of Rancho 5000 shocks. Bounce bumpers. All U-Joints and front axle seals. Poly bushings.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: New water pump and metal outlet tube along with all hoses. Serpentine belt, Tensioner and Pulleys. Plugs and filters. New Radiator, Motor & Trans mounts.

FRONT AND REAR DIFFERENTIALS: Covers removed, gears inspected and cleaned, new gear lube. Replaced rear axle seals.

TRANSMISSION: Flushed and new filter.

INTERIOR: New carpet, OEM foam insert on drivers side seat bottom.

TRIM: Complete set of fender flares and extensions

PCM: In early summer of 2012, it presented a check engine light resulting in a need to replace the PCM, Powertrain Control Module which was done at a Jeep dealer with no further problems.

Other items replaced or upgraded include new lexan head lights with high intensity bulbs. Two sets of floor mats. Complete new set of wheel lugs with locks. Recently replaced windshield after rock crack. Full disclosure, It has been involved in two, very minor accidents while we've had it neither which were our fault or resulted in any structural damage. It was side swiped with minimal impact across the front resulting in a new bumper, fog lights and paint scratches to the tips of the fenders. It was then hit in the rear at a red light directly on the spare tire which dented the tailgate. The gate was replaced with a new OEM unit. All repairs were done at first rate collision repair shops. And again, never has there been structural damage, just cosmetic.

This an extremely nice example of a 2003 Jeep Wrangler that is enjoyable to drive. The tires are properly balanced and nitrogen filled with the alignment preformed by an shop that first drives a vehicle before aligning it resulting in a Jeep that tracks properly, doesn't pull and beat you to death.

There are minor paint scratches on the sides that have been touched up and visible in the right light if you look closely for them but overall this Jeep is in great condition, extremely clean including under the hood. Even the engine bay light functions. With all the work preformed, it's an extremely reliable vehicle requiring nothing for many miles to come that you'll be proud to own and drive. I just changed the oil and filter, it's ready to go.

The only reason we're selling it is because although it rides and handles extremely well for a Jeep, my wife's had spinal surgery and it's no longer suitable for her to drive much to her dismay.

Gilles defends 2014 Jeep Cherokee design as "very contemporary"

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Following the forced-hand introduction of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, there has definitely been a mix of responses revolving around everything from its design to the return of the legendary nameplate. As evidence of this, just check out the 1,000+ comments in our article last week and some of the many opinions that were voiced. Following this not-too-warm reception, Ward's Auto had a chance to talk to Chrysler designer chief - and SRT president - Ralph Gilles, who shed a little more light on the styling direction of the new Cherokee.
Rather than looking to previous models for inspiration, Gilles says that the Cherokee has been designed to be more contemporary, with Mark Allen, head of Jeep design, adding that a main goal was to make sure the design still looks modern five years from now. Interestingly, Gilles does point out that one of the design elements incorporated on the new Cherokee that pays homage to past Jeeps is the sharply downward angle for the leading edge of the beltline, which he notes is meant to mimic the look of the old YJ and TJ Wrangler models fitted with half doors. Of course, the squared-off wheel openings - a signature Jeep cue - are still used.
This is probably a design that will need to be seen on the street in actual daylight to properly assess, but in the meantime, we'll bring you full images and impressions when the Cherokee debuts at next month's New York Auto Show.

Going high-tech, the 4x4 way

Is It An Off-Road Adventure Or Just A Walk In The Park?
I remember having to get out and lock hubs and shift into neutral to engage low range.
Coming off press previews of the 2013 Land Rover Range Rover and the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that involved some heavy-duty off-road rock climbing, I'm simply amazed at the capabilities that these vehicles possess. But even more impressive (or troubling depending on your perspective) is the relative ease with which you can operate these vehicles in seemingly impossible terrain.

Chrysler's Jefferson North plant builds 5-millionth SUV [w/video]

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant opened in 1992 for production of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee, but in the subsequent years, the Detroit plant has gone on to produce some of the company's biggest SUVs including the Jeep Commander and Dodge Durango. Earlier this week, the plant produced its five-millionth SUV, which, fittingly, was a Grand Cherokee.
Celebrating the plant's five-millionth unit, the silver 2014 Grand Cherokee was promptly donated to the USO. In addition to this milestone SUV, Chrysler also had a near-perfect 1993-95 ZJ Grand Cherokee on hand for the photo op. Scroll down for the Chrysler press release as well as a video showing some of the speeches from the celebration.
