1981 Jeep CJ7- For sale is a really cool jeep cj with 167k miles on it...has the rock solid straight six cylinder 4.2 liter engine with the 4 speed manual transmission. This Jeep was one family owned for 32yrs and is all original. Has the hard top and full hard doors. Only thing that is not stock is couple year old baja wheels and 31 inch pro Comp off road tires...newer best top front seats...also has after market front and rear bumpers. Runs and drives really good (heater works awesome) but does have the typically underbody and tub rust....rusted thru spots on quarters, rear of jeep and driver floor board. This Jeep has not been cut up, patched or diamond plated over like most unrestored jeeps of this age. Had $600 worth of brake work done less then year ago (pads drums, master cylinder etc) and tires/ wheels less than 2 years old with 75% tread life (rims and tires $1500). This is a great old jeep in the original Copper Autumn color that you could either leave as is and have fun with or restore over time!! I took a ton of pictures so make sure you know what you are buying again this Jeep is all original but does have the rust issue you see in pics.  Here is the list of the other issues with Jeep- does have a tendency to pop out of 2nd gear if you don't keep you hand on shifter...doesnt do it going down the road put when you are down shifting (mechanic I took to says it is syncronizer rings but suggested not to replace until it needs a new clutch) not a concern for me so didn't fix.  The gas gauge does not work (again had looked at and said sending unit for gas needs to be replaced.  Also the E-brake line needs to be replaced, cheap fix just didnt didnt do it because I don't use it.  This all are common issues with this older jeeps and pretty inexpensive fixes.  This Jeep fires right up very easy and is truely a solid old jeep.  I will be posting a You-Tube clip of going thru jeep, starting cold, driving, shifting etc so will give you some more peace of mind with this auction.  Please feel free to shoot me any messages that you may have with this jeep.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab Edition

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

There will forever be a soft spot in my heart for the Jeep Wrangler. The last one I owned was red, and, as a 1990 model, had the square headlights derided by Jeep enthusiasts who grew up on the Civilian Jeeps that descended from their General Purpose military ancestors. As a teenager, I couldn't have cared less what shape its headlights happened to be - to me, a Jeep Wrangler represented freedom; a carefree do-it-all machine equally at home with the top stowed away in the summer or with the heater on full blast in the snowy clutches of Old Man Winter. In Dr. Seuss parlance, my square-headlighted Sneetch was just as worthy as any round-headlighted Sneetch.
All that said, I'll be the first person to advise against buying a Jeep Wrangler of any sort for owners who don't plan to use it as its makers intend. There's no good reason to punish yourself with a stiff and springy ride, a loud and somewhat drafty (though generally water-resistant) interior or the poor fuel economy expected of a block-shaped vehicle if you don't enjoy its other, more exciting benefits.
Of course, Jeep has done its darndest over the years to make the Wrangler as civilized as possible while keeping it as capable as federal law will allow. The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Moab edition is one of Jeep's latest attempts to attract attention from the upper reaches of the active lifestyle set, and I spent a week with one to see what makes the Moab special.

Jeep Wrangler Polar Edition coming to America

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Jeep originally took the wraps off its Polar Edition Wrangler at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, and at the time, we figured this would be a Europe-only affair. (Perfectly fine, since we US customers haven't exactly been lacking special edition Wrangler models over the years.) But now, and as Jeep says, just in time for winter, the automaker has announced that the ice cold Wrangler will be hitting North American showrooms in November.
Based on the Wrangler Sahara model, the Polar Edition can be had in either two- or four-door body styles, with a unique Hydro Blue paint job as the featured color. (Buyers can also opt for less-special Billet Silver and Bright White hues.) Other exterior enhancements include a body-colored hardtop, 18-inch gloss black wheels, the Powerdome (power bulge) hood, and unique decals all around the body.
But the Polar Edition isn't just about some paint and stickers. Jeep has fitted this Wrangler with a Dana 30 front axle and Dan 44 rear axle, as well as the Trac-Lok anti-spin electronic rear differential. Like all US-spec Wranglers, the Polar Edition uses Jeep's 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, producing 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Both a six-speed manual and five-speed automatic transmission are available.

Chrysler resolves recall issue with NHTSA, will inspect, upgrade affected Jeeps

Tue, 18 Jun 2013

Chrysler made big news earlier in the month by refusing a recall request from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the 1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty. Last week, NHTSA boss David Strickland countered by defending his agency's request for the recall of 2.7 million Jeep SUVs. Today marked the deadline for Chrysler to formally respond to NHTSA, and it seems that both parties have met in the middle with Chrysler inspecting and upgrading some of the affected vehicles without using the word "recall," which would constitute the admission of a defect; instead, Chrysler said that it is conducting a "voluntary campaign."
At issue on these vehicles is the positioning of the fuel tank behind the rear axle that could get damaged during a rear-end collision. NHTSA has stated that at least 51 people have been killed in rear-end collisions involving these Jeeps after the vehicles caught fire, to which Chrysler countered by pointing out that both models "met and exceeded" the requirements for fuel-system integrity.
As a compromise on the situation, Chrysler says that it will inspect all pre-2004 Grand Cherokees and pre-2007 Liberty models and, "if necessary, provide an upgrade to the rear structure of the vehicle." According to Automotive News, this upgrade will consist of adding a trailer hitch that will presumably better protect the rear-mounted gas tank. Vehicles already equipped with a factory or Mopar hitch will not be modified. Chrysler's official statement on the matter is posted below, but no additional information has been released, such as when the campaign will begin and how many vehicles could be affected.
