1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible. Parked last 30 years in dry covered storage. Good driving condition. Starts easy, runs strong and quiet. Transmission seems perfect. No recent work done to it but to scrape dist cap terminals and Just replaced conv top pistons and motor. Top opens & closes smoothely. Stored with the top up. Needs restoration all around but would serve as a daily driver. Does not leak any liquids, new battery. Bought and driven in Santa Rosa Ca its entire life. Purchased from friend of the family of original owner. NO RUST. There is a string of superficial bubbles my pinky finger long beneath paint at muffler left tail corner. See pic. Undercarriage dry. No rot, no cancer anywhere. Motor is all original and looks great. Has been converted from generator to an alternator. Carb is a Holley with electronic choke. Works well. Needs restoration. Everything works as intended but radio has no pulse and wipers are intermittent. Conv Top has slight 4" tear at header, does not appear to leak or is it in a spot that should make it grow. Car runs Quiet and appears to have been well taken care of during its previous life before being parked. Title is clear Washington (I registered it intending to bring north but never did). Ford taken to task by gov't for Chicken Tax end-around
Mon, 23 Sep 2013Ford is in a bit of a pickle for importing and selling Turkey-built Transit Connect cargo vans as passenger vehicles in the US, then converting them to commercial-vehicle specification stateside in an effort to bypass a 25-percent tax imposed on vehicles imported for commercial use. Automakers are required to pay a 2.5-percent tax on imported passenger vehicles.
The Blue Oval got into trouble for this in a January ruling in which U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials asked Ford to stop the practice of importing the Transit Connect vehicles with passenger seats, then removing and shredding them. Now Automotive News reports that Ford is appealing the ruling. The 25-percent "Chicken Tax," as the tariff is often called, is 50 years old and was enacted as a response to a German tariff on chickens. Like Ford, Chrysler bypasses the higher tariff, but it does so in a different manner. It partially disassembles Sprinter cargo vans before shipping them to the US, then rebuilds them at a plant in South Carolina.
But the ruling against Ford's strategy states that it "serves no manufacturing or commercial purpose" and is there to "manipulate the tariff schedule," Automotive News reports. As Ford's appeal goes through, it is importing the Transit Connect and paying the higher tax, hoping for a favorable outcome and planning to build the next-generation Transit Connect, which it plans to launch before the end of the year, in Spain.

Tue, 13 Aug 2013The last 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible was sold on Saturday at a Barrett-Jackson auction in Reno, Nevada, for $500,000. Ford donated the Mustang to be auctioned for charity, and all of the money is going to the Brain Injury Association of America.
Parnelli Jones, winner of the 1963 Indianapolis 500, was there on behalf of the BIAA with his son Page, who suffered a brain injury in a sprint car crash in 1994. The bidding increased quickly, reaching $500k in no time, spreading a bit more hope to people who live with brain injuries.
The winning bidder will be able to choose the GT500's exterior, interior and stripe colors, and is scheduled to receive the car, signed by Parnelli Jones in appreciation for the donation, by the end of 2013. Watch the video below to see the auction-block action.
