Up for sale is our 65 Ranchero. This Ranchero is rare because it is so solid and has very little rust. It would make an excellent candidate for a show car, restomod, drag racer, road racer or used as a daily driver. It runs and drives well. The suspension has been updated with a larger than stock front sway bar, stiffer than stock front coil springs and roller spring perches. All of the suspension is in good shape. It handles well and rides nice. It has 14" wheels on it with the 4 lug pattern and 4 wheel drum brakes that stop the Ranchero well with no issues. The motor runs good and the transmission shifts smooth with a new clutch. It has a new radiator and fuel pump. The carburetor was rebuilt and the motor fires right up in the mornings. It has a clear title and is currently on non-operation. It is not insured so there will be no test drives. It moves forward and backward under it's own power so loading it on a truck or boat is not an issue. It is being sold as is. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I will not let the Ranchero be driven away from it's present location. It has been sitting for a while and should have a full safety check done on it before it is driven any distance. Chip Ganassi Racing switches to the Ford EcoBoost-powered Riley Daytona Prototype
Wed, 06 Nov 2013Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced yesterday at Ford's SEMA press conference that it will field a Ford-Riley Daytona Prototype with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 in the 2014 United SportsCar Championship (USCC). CGRFS is the second team to commit to the new Ford-Riley car, behind Michael Shank Racing (which has already used the racecar to break a 26-year-old top-speed record at Daytona International Speedway).
"Over the last 10 seasons we have been able to experience a great deal of success in Grand-Am," Chip Ganassi says, "and now with the dawn of the new United SportsCar Championship we feel that Ford power will be a key ingredient to writing the next chapter of our sports car program."
In the last Grand-Am season, CGRFS raced a BMW-Riley Daytona Prototype. The team has won seven Daytona Prototype championships, all in the past ten years. Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas return as the team's prototype co-drivers, and will attend their maiden race in the Ford-Riley at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January.
Ford picks Fiesta ST, Transit Connect as this year's SEMA darlings
Sat, 02 Feb 2013SEMA is more than nine months away, but the reveille bugle for the show has just sounded with Ford's call to aftermarket companies for its project-vehicle program. The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST and 2014 Transit Connect van and wagon are the cars The Blue Oval wants to feature, but applicants can submit project vehicles for any product except the GT500, the Raptor, or anything from Lincoln.
Submissions must be completed in two parts, the first being an email to Ford with an overview of the project, like vehicle theme, promotional plan and location display. The second part must be mailed in on company letterhead and gets down to the nuts and bolts of the vision and the provision of company bona fides. The complete proposal is due on March 1, winners will be notified by May 1. Ford pulls official support from top-level NHRA teams
Sun, 11 Aug 2013As the smallest team in the sport, it wasn't really a surprise when Dodge decided to pull out of NASCAR, but Autoweek is reporting that Ford is looking to pull the plug on its professional-level NHRA sponsorships following the 2014 season. With attendance and television ratings down, the article reports that Ford is just backing out of the top series but will remain active in the Sportsman classes of racing, which are geared more toward the grassroots and semi-professional racers.
This means that one of drag racing's biggest names, John Force, will be left looking for new sponsorship after next season. Force, 64, has been with Ford for 17 years, winning 15 championships in that time and winning almost half of all Funny Car events in his Mustang since he started working with Ford in 1997, but after 2014, there could be some big shakeups at John Force Racing.
According to the report, Force would consider is moving over to the Top Fuel dragster series, although he could also move to another manufacturer to remain in the Funny Car series. With Ford on the way out, this leaves just Toyota and Dodge as the remaining active automakers in the highest levels of drag racing.
