1966 Ford Fairlane 500 2 Door Hardtop on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:106000
Location:

United States

Clean Idaho title. This Fairlane runs and drives nicely. Not currently licensed. Car has power steering with rebuilt control valve. This Fairlane was recently refurbished. Not a total restoration but I will list what was done to my knowledge.
ENGINE- 289, std bore from an 80K 1966 donor car was rebuilt professionally with a 292 cam, Edlebrock Performer intake, rebuilt Holley 450 4 barrel carb. All new rod, cam, and main bearings, new flat top pistons, new oil pump and shaft, new plugs etc. Zinc additive added to initial oil change. New exhaust and mufflers. C-4, checked out by mechanic as great, filter and fluid changed.

BODY- Entire body was dismantled and blasted, primed with 2K primer. The drivers floor pan and lower rear quarters were the only rusted areas and were replaced. All window tracks were removed, cleaned and re-lubed. Refurbished grill assembly. All turn signal and tail lights were cleaned and re-assembled. Car was mostly shaved and electric door poppers installed. A black basecoat/clearcoat system from NAPA was used to spray the car.

INTERIOR-New headliner, rear package tray, carpet and pad, door panels, interior quarter panels, arm rest pads, new dash pad cover, new upholstery on front and rear seats. Front seats are 66 Mustang units. New seat belts up front. trunk divider panel, dome light, ignition switch, glove box liner, refurbished wiring where necessary. Aftermarket hump-hugger console. Heater works. Carpeted trunk. Dash instruments and interior paint refurbished, misc. stuff repaired.

WEATHERSTRIPPING-new windshield seal, new rear window rubber seal, new beltline fuzzies on doors and quarter windows, door seals, roof rail weatherstrip, cowl to hood seal, radiator to hood seal, trunk seal, headlight seals, door and hood rubber bumpers etc. New wipers.

GLASS- all glass is in very good condition, each piece was removed and resealed where necessary.

Old school ET mags with good radial tires. Spare tire and all jack hardware, New shocks up front, air shocks in the rear. Replaced gas tank with a known good clean unit.

BRAKES- new or rebuilt master cylinder and all wheel cylinders. New brake pads, re-lubed wheel bearings. New idler arm.

Car does need front and rear bumpers re-chromed. They are very straight and will need only normal prep. Paint and body are not flawless, some minor dings and a fair amount of swirl marks in clear coat. Looks great at 5 feet but is not a "new car" finish. This car was bought as an unfinished project and then completed so I have only listed what I actually know about it. Speedometer reads 5400 so it has turned over, don't know if that is original unit or not. All said, this is a pretty straight car that is fun to drive and has hard all the hard work done. Has two 100 watt speakers in back but needs a stereo. Feel free to call- 208-888-4543 for questions.

2014 Ford Fiesta 1.0L EcoBoost

Fri, 09 May 2014

I'll be honest; when Ford first unveiled its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, I was skeptical. Past attempts at building turbocharged American cars were almost universally awful, I reasoned, so why would Ford's latest effort be any different? This may seem foolish today, considering the success that the growing EcoBoost range has achieved - particularly the 2.0-liter and 1.6-liter mills. Yet I once again found myself questioning Ford.
It's the makeup of the 1.0-liter, turbocharged three-cylinder slotted into the compact engine bay of this Fiesta that has a way of breeding doubt. Three-cylinder engines remain an extreme rarity in the US. What's more, they earned a less-than-desirable reputation for applications in the 1980s and 1990s, and my trepidation about this latest three-pot as a result.
As I found out, though, history is a poor informant of modern technology. The thrust available in other cars with the EcoBoost badge on the back has not gone missing here; something the International Engine of the Year committee has lauded. That august body named the 1.0-liter Ecoboost the best engine of 2012 and 2013. After a week of driving, it didn't take long for my fear of threes to get turned into something like that line of thinking.

Ford Fusion production scaled back just 3 months after it was accelerated

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

Three months after kicking off production of the Ford Fusion at its Flat Rock, MI factory, Ford Motor Company is taking steps to trim output in the face of heavily discounted competition from Toyota and a growing supply of vehicles.
The addition of Fusion production in Flat Rock - which also builds the Mustang - was meant to be what pushed the handsome mid-sizer past its arch-nemesis, the Toyota Camry. An extra facility building Fusions was also meant to curb the growing demand for Ford's highly profitable sedan.
But with word that Flat Rock would take "approximately" one extra week off for the holidays combined with an 88-day supply of Fusions - reportedly due in no small part to what Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas called "aggressive discounting of the Camry" - some analysts are now beginning to wonder if Ford may have overextended itself by adding a second Fusion facility to the mix.

Rowan Atkinson crashes at Goodwood Revival

Sun, 14 Sep 2014

To quote Harry Hogge (played by Robert Duvall) in Days of Thunder, "rubbin, son, is racin'." That can mean some unfortunate damage to high-end racing machinery, which may be repaired easily enough in stock car racing, but when it comes to vintage racing, the stakes can be that much higher. And yet incidents do occur, like at this weekend's Goodwood Revival.
Among the many competitors taking part in the retro racing event in England was none other than Rowan Atkinson, the actor perhaps best known for playing Mr. Bean. Driving a classic Ford Falcon Sprint in the Shelby Cup event, Atkinson (pictured above at the 2012 revival) reportedly crashed head-on into another car on track.
According to reports, the two cars up spun out. The driver in between managed to avoid a pile-up, but Atkinson couldn't steer clear and hit the obstructing vehicle. Fortunately Rowan walked away unscathed (and, we imagine, in a humorous manner), but while we don't know how extensive the damage was to the Falcon, it was enough to take it out of the race.
