1989 Ford LTD Crown Victoria 55A Police Package Sedan: Arizona Highway Patrol Show Car

This is a genuine 55A Police Package sedan with the optional 5.8L (351-ci) 2V V-8 police engine

Originally a Burlington, NC unmarked administrator's vehicle, this car now proudly wears the uniform of the Arizona Highway Patrol.

I am an avid police car collector and this is my 6th restoration. I spared no expense turning this 25-year old cruiser into a show winner.

This car is a regular at car shows in metro Detroit and has won several awards.

I have owned this car since 2010. To date, over $9,000 invested in this battle-tested beauty including:

Newly rebuilt engine!! Completed in March, 2012, the long block is bored 0.030” over - now 357 cubic inches. Also, new oil pump, water pump, fuel pump, radiator, alternator,

heater core, starter, R-134 A/C conversion, coolant reservoir, heater hoses, distributor, Duraspark II engine control box, 195F thermostat, spark plugs,

and other newer parts like M+S tires, front brakes, and front and rear HD “cop” shocks.

New paint job!! Completed in May, 2012 this car has a glossy, clean urethane finish in Ford Oxford White.

This car's body is in excellent shape with virtually no rust on the panels, frame, undercarriage, or door jams.

Loaded interior!! It comes with all the luxury power features most fleet cars didn’t get: Seats, Windows, Mirrors, and full carpeting.

No cracks or serious wear marks & everything works including the ICE COLD A/C.

Ready for car shows!! Fully marked with lights and sirens!! Comes with Arizona Highway Patrol decals and dummy license plates, Federal Signal PA-200 siren,

Motorola radio console, rear PAR 46 red/amber lights, wigwag headlights, front red light, switch panel, working radar unit, 140 MPH speedometer,

and the special auxiliary gauge pkg. (oil, water, volts).

(All decals and lights are magnetic and removable for regular driving around town or cruising to shows).

She’s ready to roll anywhere!! I drove it to Chicago, Philadelphia, and North Carolina just last year!

**Please note: This car has the original **Variable Venturi** carburetor (which can be fussy at times), but always starts and runs.

Also, the heater works but it does not work well. It would be unsuitable to drive during the winter.

Finally, this is a 25-year old former police car with outdated and worn mechanical technology. I cannot provide any type of guarantees.

SPECIAL PURCHASE CONDITIONS:

**Buyer to arrange pickup and transportation.

**Only certified checks from established banking institutions or CASH will be acceptable.

**For base vehicle without police decals, lights, or equipment subtract $500 from the reserve price.

This show car is located in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and with winter coming it needs a good home. The Reserve price is set well below the normal listing price

for restored "police package" vehicles of this era. This is a great opportunity to get into the show car hobby without having to spend a small fortune.

This car wins just as many awards as vintage muscle cars that cost 10 times as much to restore, insure, and maintain.

Thank you for reading my description. Good luck.

Jay Leno takes a Surfin' Safari in a 1937 Ford Woodie Restomod

Tue, 21 Oct 2014

Woodie wagons were a major part of surfing culture in the 1960s, offering coastal style and a ton of room, and they even earned a mention in the Beach Boys' classic song Surfin' Safari. This week, Jay Leno's Garage takes a look at two modern, restomodded examples of these style icons.
Unlike a lot of restomods, builder Scott Bonowski keeps these wagons looking almost completely stock on the outside, and all of the upgrades are hidden underneath the timber. You can't tell by looking at it, but the '37 Woodie (pictured above) has independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a Ford 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.
Beyond the mechanical aspect, the craftsmanship into the wood is astounding. Bonowski claims there are between 30 and 50 coats of varnish on this wagon. It makes these woodies as much of a piece of fine furniture as a vehicle to drive.

Ford pulls official support from top-level NHRA teams

Sun, 11 Aug 2013

As the smallest team in the sport, it wasn't really a surprise when Dodge decided to pull out of NASCAR, but Autoweek is reporting that Ford is looking to pull the plug on its professional-level NHRA sponsorships following the 2014 season. With attendance and television ratings down, the article reports that Ford is just backing out of the top series but will remain active in the Sportsman classes of racing, which are geared more toward the grassroots and semi-professional racers.
This means that one of drag racing's biggest names, John Force, will be left looking for new sponsorship after next season. Force, 64, has been with Ford for 17 years, winning 15 championships in that time and winning almost half of all Funny Car events in his Mustang since he started working with Ford in 1997, but after 2014, there could be some big shakeups at John Force Racing.
According to the report, Force would consider is moving over to the Top Fuel dragster series, although he could also move to another manufacturer to remain in the Funny Car series. With Ford on the way out, this leaves just Toyota and Dodge as the remaining active automakers in the highest levels of drag racing.

Ford recalling 65k Fusions from 2014 and 2015 because key can be removed

Tue, 18 Nov 2014

Ford is recalling an estimated 64,869 examples of the 2014-2015 Fusion, Fusion Energi and Fusion Hybrid in North America because the key can be removed when the vehicle isn't in Park under certain conditions. Specifically, the campaign covers 56,479 units in the US, 6,048 in Canada and 2,342 in Mexico, according to the automaker's tally on November 11.
Ford says a programming problem in the instrument cluster means that the key can be removed 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off, even if the transmission is not in Park. The situation where this could happen seems quite limited, and the company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the issue. However, the fault puts the vehicle out of compliance with federal regulations covering theft protection and rollaways, and must be repaired.
The fix is easy: Ford will reprogram the instrument cluster at no cost to consumers. According to Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker in an email to Autoblog, "We will notify customers the week of January 5th." Scroll down to read Ford's announcement.
