We have up for auction a 1968 Dodge D100 Adventurer, this was the top of the line Dodge truck in 1968. The truck was an old shop truck at one point in its life. I left the patina on the truck, it looks cool and shows some character. It was clear coated to prevent anymore fading or rust. The body of the truck is straight, 95% rust free. The tailgate is the worse area on the truck. There is a rust spot on the hood underneath the DODGE lettering. The bed, including the inside is in good shape, no rot. The floor pans did have some rust and there is now new metal there. The truck sits on aftermarket rims with white wall tiger paws, the thread on the tires arent the best tho. The truck runs and drives, stops, the turn signals and lights work, the guages work, as well as wipers. The truck does need to warm up, the electric choke is not working properly, but once warmed up runs fine. The motor is a 318, with an automatic transmission, it has new gas lines, new carb, new starter, new battery, new alternator and a fresh oil change. The transmission shifts well and is strong, as is the motor. The truck has original miles, being just under 40k. This is a pretty cool truck, turns some heads as well. I have driven the truck, after work was complete, I probably put about 60 to 70 miles on the truck. If local I would say go head and drive it home, if not local I would bring a trailer, it is an old truck and you never know! The interior is original except the carpet and the seat cover. The windows and vents work. The seat is covered because, well you know why its covered, it is ripped and someone did the old duct tape fix that looks all so well! If you have any questions ask! If you want to make a buy now offer? Shoot me an email with your offer. Payment is due within 7 days of the auction, unless agreed upon before auction end. $500 deposit within 3 day via paypal. Rest in cash on pick up.

Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.

Dodge Dart falls short of Consumer Reports Recommended, Caddy XTS and Lincoln MKS, too

Thu, 22 Nov 2012

The Dodge Dart, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS all failed to earn a "Recommended" rating from Consumer Reports. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us.
As for the XTS, CR lauded the car for its luxurious cabin, but the vehicle's experience was dulled by its finicky CUE infotainment interface. Overall, the big Cadillac scored much higher than its cross-town rival from Lincoln. While testers found the American luxury sedan to offer a quiet ride and quality fit and finish, they felt the MKS delivered a "cramped driving position, ungainly handling, uncomposed ride, and limited visibility." Ouch. At the end of the day, both cars fell short of rivals from Japan, Germany and Korea. Check out the full press release below with more details, along with CR's musings on the Chevrolet Spark and Lexus ES.

Dodge lets us drive 100-years' worth of history [w/videos]

Thu, 03 Jul 2014

A raft of important production models from the last hundred years were available for me to either drive or ride in.
Dodge is 100 years old this year. So, as happened on Ford's recent centennial, the 50-year birthday of the Porsche 911, and others, the company has an excuse to trot out the highlights of its history next to its upcoming model lineup, and declare that "these are the fruits of the Dodge Boys' tree whose roots have grown strong." Or something like that. Never so hampered by marketing skepticism that I'll pass up the opportunity to burn someone else's rubber, I was happy to drive out to Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester Hills, MI - former grand estate of the Dodge family - to hear the spiel.
