Where do I begin ? I've owned this Nova for nearly 12 years and in that time it has sat more then anything due to slow shops and other projects. The previous owners did a nice job overall with the car and the drive train had less then 5k at the time I purchased it. I drove the nova here and there as purchased until the rear end went out. Orignally the car had leaf springs and air shocks so I had a reputable shop go through the rear end with new axles a detroit locker w/ 4:30 gears ladder bar suspension and added a 8pt cage. Only took 3 years to get the Nova back and alot of cash but it was done right. I enjoyed the Nova for less then 6 months and a few hundred miles when I decided to upgrade the Nova again. I commisioned a Body shop to pull out the drivetrain shave the fire wall rebuild the front end and do paint and body work. After depositing half for the work three years go by when I get a call the shop is closed and the Nova need to be picked up asap.I dropped off a running and driving car only to get the Nova back in pieces. Over the last two years since getting the car back I've only had the time to get the Nova to where you see in now in the pictures. The Big Block 396 and turbo 350 is in.I freshend the motor with new gaskets and paint oil pan and oil pump. I left the long block alone after a careful inspection as it has less then 6000 miles and ran great. I would estimate HP around 350-375. The Hooker ceramic Headers are new as well as the electric water pump and pullies. The March billet powersteering pump is used. Holley 700CFM Doublepumper is new. The 350 trans shifts smooth but hard so I left it untouched. The firewall was shaved and the subframe blasted and painted. The front suspension consist of Gobal west upper and lower control arms QAl adjustable coilovers.Unisteer power Rack and pinion and a Hellwig 1 1/8 swaybay.CPP 13 inch Big brake kit with dual pistons calipers and CPP master cylinder and proportional valve. That's over $3000.00 in front suspension& brake parts. Ididit polish tilt column, billet steering wheel with adapter and half ring all new $1000.00. Not shown but included are the hood fenders and inner fender wells. The paint is far from show fair at best but will still shine after a coat of wax. There are dings and scratches and a few rust bubbles by the back bumper and bottom fenders. Floorpan will need a patch on the drivers side toe board. The last pictures shows a pair of 31x18x20 Mickey Thompson tires that sell for nearly $1000.00 they will only be included in the buy it now price.
The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.
Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. That's a lesson that is currently being taught to General Motors, because despite a strong showing from its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the General's pickup sales still can't best those of cross-town rival Ford.
With 59,163 trucks moved, GM fell just over 1,000 units short of toppling Ford, and one of the main reasons for that, according to GM's chief sales analyst, was due to a lack of variety in the engines and body styles available on dealer lots. "We are still over-weighted toward crew-cab V8 trucks. Our light-duty mix will moderate over time as our launch progresses," said Kurt McNeil.
Loading dealers with the popular combination of the 5.3-liter V8 and the four-door, Crew Cab body style was intentional during the truck's launch, but as supplies of leftover 2013 models, which are being sold at heavy incentives, are beginning to wane, both budget-conscious and high-dollar buyers are looking elsewhere instead of at the volume model pickups.
Kurt Busch will channel Ricky Bobby for another NASCAR race, this time driving a Wonder-sponsored Chevrolet SS, in this weekend's Camping World RV Sales 500 at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Unlike past tie-ins, though, there's actually an element of sponsorship here (the "Me" car was done when Busch was running on a team without sponsorship).
It was arranged by Flower Foods, the new owner of the Wonder brand. Wonder was part of the bankrupt Hostess company, which temporarily exited the US market 2012, and set off the Great Twinkie Shortage.
Busch has made something of a habit of channeling characters from famous racing movies, most recently running Tom Cruise's City Chevrolet livery from Days of Thunder in a Nationwide Series race earlier this year. Busch kicked off his movie-inspired antics, though, at Talladega in 2012, when he raced El Diablo's ("It's like... Spanish for like a fighting chicken") "Me" car complete with a cougar on the hood. He even went so far as to channel the lovable idiot that is Ricky Bobby during the race, dropping a few catchphrases about macchiatos and slingshots.
