1998 Chevy Astro Ls/awd on 2040-cars

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States

Up for bids, I have 1998 Chevy Astro van (AWD)....I have had this for 2 years and never had any problems with this vehicle...Since I have gotten the van, I have replaced quite a few things on this van, which are normal wear/tear items, like the fuel pump, fuel filter,A/C compressor, wiper motor, oil cooler lines, rear brakes, pass. side window motor, broken window switches, etc. Just in the past few months, I have had the front rotors shaved and the front brakes replaced....The A/C blows cold and heat works....The front windows roll down just fine and the cruise control works just as well...The window rain guards were on the vehicle when I purchased it, but I have bought the bug shield, euro tail lights, new chrome rims, and even bought/installed the trailer hitch....Also you will notice on the bottom part of the front bumper (from the pics) that I also installed a few led lights to give the van a stylish look at night while driving....The led lights are activated by a On/Off switch and the switch will illuminate when you have the parking lights on....I was not a big fan of the DRL setup on the astro van, so all I did was remove the fuse from the fusebox under the dash...I will have a new fuse put in for the winning bidder....Both front windows have been tinted to match the privacy glass on the rest of the van...The van has a donut spare underneath but I'm sure by now, it is part of the vehicle...haha, so when I bought new wheels for the van, I kept one of the factory chrome plated rims to use as a full size spare and the tire that is on it is brand new and matches the tires that are on it now....Also have the 2 full size bucket seats in the basement, which I will have put back in for the winning bidder...These seats will seat 3 each.....The inspection runs out at the end of July/2014.....The only reason I am getting rid of the van is because I picked up more hours at my job and requires more driving, hence I need to downsize and look for something that will get better gas mileage and you guys know about these fuel prices...Bleh!!!

Here is the flaws of the vehicle.....The paint on the hood has cracking in it...The tires do have some tread on them but will need replaced down the road...The rear bumper cover has a couple zip ties to keep it on...The wheels will clean up somewhat pretty good, but will have some left over rust spots and pitting....The windshield has a divet hole crack, but will pass inspection...The van has the dutch doors in the back, and the flap on the pass. side is rusting out, which i have a piece of duct tape over it to prevent total corrosion....At idle, the van seems a little chuggish, but once you get moving, it rides fine....There was a po304 code that has popped up a couple times, but just haven't had the time to check it out...But overall the van drives real well and it totally driveable !!

(From Previous Owner)
There was some previous damage to the pass. side, near the rear, which I was never told about until, I went and picked up the vehicle and some touchups were done on the roof on the drivers side....

A deposit of $300 is due at end of auction...If you would like to pick up the van in person, then you could pay in full at time of pickup and would have to have title transferred in your name, which I have a Clean Title in hand....If you have it shipped, then the $300 would be due at end of auction, then the remaining would have to be paid in full before the shipper comes to get the vehicle....If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I will answer to the best of my knowledge...Thank you for looking !!!  :)

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible is the track car for sun worshippers

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
