Here is nice 1970 Buick Skylark shell car. ( Not a GS) This Buick would be great for a restoration project to build a cool Tribute Car, Street Rod, or parts car.  The car has spent a great deal of its life in Texas, therefore its in decent shape. The car has some minor rust (See pictures). The undercarriage is nice and solid, floor plans have some surface rust, but are very solid. The truck floor-pans have some small holes and minor welding should do the repair. The right quarter has some minor collision damage, could be repaired or replaced depending on your goals. Over all, the body is in decent shape and is a good starting point.

This Buick appears to have been someone's once long ago dream project to turn it into a GS or GSX clone, thus it has some extra goodies on it. It has GS mirrors and grill, along with a 1970 Buick 350 4 barrel motor. The motor does not run, but turns over. It ran several years ago, but has not since it was parked. The brakes need work as well and are not functional.  Needless to say, it needs a new interior, which will require a new front bench seat or buckets, but car will have its back seat included in the sale. Don't let the ugly interior fool you, most people replace the interior anyways. Thanks to this Buick's cousins being the GTO, 442, and Chevelle, there is a large amount of aftermarket parts available that are reasonably priced. This car needs a good home for someone looking for a fun project.

GM to offer 2 years free maintance on most 2014 models

Thu, 06 Jun 2013

A day after Ford announced it was scaling back the complimentary maintenance program for its Lincoln brand, General Motors has gone in the completely opposite direction, offering most of its 2014 lineup with free maintenance. Since 2011, Cadillac models have all come with a four-year/50,000-mile complimentary maintenance program, but Chevrolet, Buick and GMC vehicles will now come standard with free maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles for the 2014 model year.
The program will give vehicle owners and lessees free oil changes, tire rotations and 27-point inspections following the recommended maintenance schedule laid out in each vehicle's owner's manual. We contacted GM to see which vehicles were eligible for the program, and a spokesperson got back to us with the following comment:
"All 2014 models are eligible, it's just that the included services vary by model, e.g., Spark EV would not need oil changes, Corvettes don't recommend tire rotations."

GM China President says automaker could export vehicles from China to US

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

At a press conference on Saturday at the Shanghai Motor Show, General Motors announced plans to further expand its presence in the Chinese market. Among those commitments are plans to build four new plants by the end of 2015, giving the automaker the capacity to produce around five million vehicles a year in the country.
In order to make the most of that expansion, GM is adding 400 dealerships in China this year alone (for a total of 4,200 sales points), and it's eyeing 5,100 dealers by 2015. Yet not all of that production will stay in China - GM is planning to increase exports as well. Officials estimate the company will export somewhere between 100,000 and 130,000 Chinese-built vehicles this year - a record. And it's gunning for more.
Autoblog asked GM China president Bob Socia (above) if that means the company might eventually export new vehicles built in China to the United States, and he responded:

GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.
