1966 Buick Skylark on 2040-cars

US $7,000.00
Year:1966 Mileage:74275
Location:

Cleveland, Tennessee, United States

For Sale is a 1966 Buick Skylark Grand Sport.  This car is "Barn Fresh" and competely original.  Nothing added or taken away. Still has the factory dual exhaust, although mufflers were changed.  The paint and interior is original.  It has been sitting for a long time.  The oil & filter was changed, new spark plug wires & cap, gasoline drained and fresh gas added, the car started right up. The water pump started leaking so installed a new water pump.   It has only 74,274 original miles and it sounds like it.  Purrs like a kitten.  No shakes or rattles. Everything works, even the trunk light.   The a/c was charged and blows cold.  Anyone who knows Buicks knows that a 40l nailhead is a bullet proof engine.  It delivers 325 horsepower @ 4400 rpm with an awesome 445 ft pounds of torque @ 2800 rpm!  A real stump puller !!  No sign of any body work.  All original black paint.

 Compare with the following factory specs for other engines:  Chevy 396-325hp @ 4800 and 410 torque @ 3600 rpm,  Chevy 396-360hp @ 5200 rpm and 420 torque @ 3600 rpm, 409-425hp @ 6,000 rpm and 425 torque @ 4200 rpm.

The Buick has a 12 bolt positraction rearend, not sure what the gear ratio is.  The transmission is a 300 turbo which is a 2 speed that was built to handle the torque.  Factory 15"  Ralley wheels and tacometer.

There are several rust issues.  Both rear quarters at the rear tire to the bumper need patch panels about 4" high.  Trunk needs patch panels on each side of floor. Need rain gutter in trunk area on one side.  Front fenders at the bottom near door need patch panels.  Floor on passenger's side needs a patch panel, which is included with the car,  needs to be installed.  The hood has rust and probably needs to be replaced.

Need new carpet.  Have a new headliner that needs to be installed.  All glass is in excellent shape.  Doors close as they should.

This car drives and is currently licenced and registered.  This car is advertised locally and I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time.  Any further questions you can call me at 615-785-2100  Pete

Happy bidding!!!

2013 Buick Encore

Mon, 10 Dec 2012

City, Slicker
We admit it. We have no earthly idea how this whole thing is going to shake out.
Typically, after driving a new car or truck, we come away prepared to hazard a guess as to whether said model has a good chance of being a sales success. We've amassed enough time watching the industry, scrutinizing the competitors, and so on, to make a reasonably educated bet. Yet here we are, days removed from driving the new 2013 Buick Encore, and we still have no bloody idea.

First 2013 Buick Encore TV ad features... dinosaurs

Thu, 14 Mar 2013

The whole "SUVs as dinosaurs" trope has become something of a threadbare cliché among auto writers, but that doesn't mean the wider world of consumers has caught on to the Jurassic nature of our line of thinking. That's what General Motors appears to be betting on, at least. Just check out Buick's first television spot for its 2013 Encore, the tiny crossover that is pushing the Tri-Shield into territories unknown while looking to outrun the brand's reputation as a refuge for elderly clientele.
Set to air this weekend on ESPN during the NCAA college basketball tournament, the ad plays up the Encore's maneuverability and surprising interior space by setting the baby Buick amongst a herd of lumbering CG dinosaurs created by Tippett Studio, the folks behind Hollywood blockbusters like Jurassic Park, Ted, and the Twilight series of films.
We can't help but snigger a little - while the Encore is indeed surprisingly roomy, nimble, and composed, our first drive found it to be glacially slow, too... not unlike a certain prehistoric race of animals. Check out the commercial below and judge for yourself.

GM recalling over 243,000 crossovers over possible seat belt defect

2010 Buick Enclave - Click above for high-res image gallery
The summer of 2010's recall hit parade continues unabated today, with General Motors having just announced that it is asking 243,403 owners of its 2009-2010 Lambda crossovers to bring their three-row haulers in for inspection. The culprit? Second-row seat belts in select Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook CUVs have "failed to perform properly in a crash."
According to GM, a second-row seat-side trim piece is to blame, as it can impede the upward rotation of the buckle after the seat is folded flat. As a result, if the buckle makes contact with the seat frame, cosmetic damage can occur, potentially requiring additional force to operate the buckle properly. So far, no great shakes, but in the process of applying that additional force, the occupant may push the buckle cover down to the strap, potentially revealing and depressing the red release button. As a result of this, the belt may not latch, or in certain cases, it may actually appear to be latched when, in fact, it isn't.
