1988 Bmw M3 on 2040-cars
Elmira, New York, United States
BODY:Recently painted in its original salmon silver (lachsilber) color. The paint is in excellent condition, virtually
all of the trim, badges, grills, window seals, wiper arms, antenna, etc were replaced with new OEM parts. All
original body panels with matching VIN. Absolutely no rust. The rear wing has no cracks. There are a few blemishes
I will try to describe. I bumped into a parked car and sustained a small dent to the drivers side front quarter
panel, about 4” across, and in the same area the front corner of the hood is bent, about 1a body shop.
INTERIOR:
The original cardinal red interior was completely replaced with an all black interior from a low mileage (50k) E30
M3. This included all of the door cards and handles, rear panels, front and rear seats. All of the seats have their
original leather and are in great condition no tears or splits with the normal patina and wear you would expect in
a car of this vintage. The dash was replaced and is in excellent condition with no cracks or fading but it does
have a small blemish, 2” long, above the glove box probably from someone forcing the latch open. the steering
wheel is the evo 3 type small size 270mm M-tech 2, the shifter is the Evo 3 type. The radio and speakers are all
original but not working because I don’t have the code. The sunroof works as it should. It has new OEM floor
mats. The carpet is in good condition with one small blemish in the back footwell which is under the floor mat.
WHEELS:
BBS style 5 17” with mirror polished split rim, silver centers and spokes, and gold plated hardware. They have a
few stone chips and very minimal scuffs on the rim. Overall excellent condition. Tires are Khumo Ecsta 21/40 ZR 17.
SUSPENSION:
Bilstein shocks and springs, lowered about an inch.
EXHAUST:
Strömung stainless steel
ENGINE:
The original S14, 2.3 L, 4 cylinder with matching VIN. Starts easily every time and runs strong with no issues.
Always used Mobil 1 full synthetic

BMW 3 Series wagon configurator up, priced from $41,450
Mon, 25 Mar 2013If you're still smarting from the shock of the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo, we have good news for you. BMW has just fired up the configurator for the 2014 3 Series wagon. Prices start at $41,450, excluding an $895 destination and handling fee. The price tag will buy you a 328i xDrive Sports Wagon with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine boasting 241 horsepower paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. The automaker's xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive is also standard, as is a fuel-saving auto start/stop function and 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-season run flat rubber.
Buyers can step up to Sport Line trim for $2,600, and doing so graces the 3 Wagon with 18-inch wheels, high-gloss black accents outdoors as well as a sport leather steering wheel, high-gloss or aluminum interior trim and a black signature key fob. Luxury Line trim will set you back $2,300 abd features chrome trim accents outdoors and wood trim inside along with other goodies. Buyers can also opt for Modern Line trim at $2,300, complete with a turbine-design 18-inch alloy wheel, matte chrome trim bits outdoors and a range of interior trim options.
Our favorite of the bunch? That would be M Sport trim. While the tweaks are largely aesthetic, we dig the notion of 8-way power adjustable sport seats indoors and exclusive M Estoril Blue paint outside. Expect to pay $3,950 for the pleasure. Head over to the BMW site to build your own.
2014 BMW 328i xDrive Gran Turismo
Thu, 24 Apr 2014"The Ultimate Driving Machine" has been BMW's tagline for nearly 40 years. Launched in the 1970s, the marketing campaign was a stroke of genius by ad firm Ammirati & Puris, as the phrase helped differentiate the imported Bavarian cars from their fellow European rivals by subtly pointing out that Mercedes-Benz and Audi were offering luxury models, while BMW was selling sporty and youthful driving dynamics. The campaign worked - some would argue that stands among the most effective ad campaigns ever - and countless Baby Boomers embraced the brand's fun-to-drive image by taking delivery of the company's new models.
BMW still boasts that its vehicles are "The Ultimate Driving Machine" four decades later, but the brand is very different today. It offered just a few model lines in the mid-1970s, and only a handful of vehicles within. In 2014, the automaker offers an exhaustive range comprised of nearly a dozen lines with almost 50 different models. To survive and thrive, BMW has decided it must massively broaden its appeal.
One of the latest arrivals to BMW's ever-growing stable is the 2014 3 Series Gran Turismo. The five-door hatchback is best thought of as a smaller version of the company's 5 Series Gran Turismo built on stretched 3 Series platform that, in the case of this test car, shares the running gear of the 328i xDrive sedan. On paper, the five-passenger vehicle checks all the proper boxes with regards to performance, utility and economy. But does this family-focused 3 Series still deliver driving dynamics that qualify it for the title of Ultimate Driving Machine?
2015 BMW 2 Series Cabriolet flips its lid [w/video]
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Early next year, BMW will offer droptop versions of its entry-level 2 Series. Available in both 228i and M235i guise, the 2 Series Cabriolet will no doubt take everything we already like (and don't like) about the Twoer and add that wind-in-your-hair experience. Of course, taking in all the extra sun comes at a price - $37,900 for the 228i and $47,700 for the M235i, not including $950 for destination. Those prices represent increases of $5,800 and $4,600, respectively.
Powertrain specs are identical to the coupes, with the 228i powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four good for 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. The more potent M235i gets BMW's turbocharged, 3.0-liter inline-six, with 320 hp and 330 lb-ft of push, and can hit 60 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds. That's with the eight-speed automatic transmission, which is available with either engine. And for those who prefer to row their own, BMW will thankfully offer a six-speed manual gearbox with both powerplants, as well.
Following the Paris Motor Show unveiling, the pair will be shown in the US at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November before hitting dealers a few months later. Have a look at the new droptop in our fresh batch of images live from the Porte de Versailles exhibition center, and read BMW's lengthy press blast, below, for all of the official information.
