My business partner and I buy, fix, and flip cars. We had bought this beautiful, majestic, nice running car to sell it thinking all I needed was tires, some bulbs, and brakes to make it almost perfect and get $6000 for it, that is how nice the body, paint, and interior are not to mention a 740 is just straight O.G. and cool as hell. Unfortunately the car had other plans. The car sat for a while, the battery went dead, jumped it and now the transmission fail safe mode activated, check engine light is on, and it feels like it is slipping or not down shifting into first gear. I went no further with any inspection of the mechanical state of the car. It is drive-able but not happy and I have no clue what I am doing with a BMW transmission. May be some sort of electrical issue or computer control, I don't know but lets just assume the worst...like the transmission is bad. Since it is a BMW and it is a transmission problem it is outside my field of expertise. This would be a great car for someone who knows what they are doing and has the means to diagnose and repair it. If you don't know how to fix it and you don't know a guy or something you might want to buy one of the other ones that are 2-3 times the price that don't have issues. Any questions please ask, except for what is wrong with it ( if I knew I would fix it and sell it for a lot more). If you want to look at it that is fine, but test drive over 100 ft. is pretty much out of the question without deposit (don't want to have to advertise it as won't move because a tire kicker blew the trans completely). Trying to be as honest as possible. Not representing this as being anything other than a project, so please don't expect anything else. There is a non refundable deposit, please read the payment instructions. Would highly suggest towing or trailering to avoid any further dammage and/or make sure it gets where it is supposed to go, but once it is paid for do with it as you wish....at that point it's your anyway just make sure you take the car with you when you do it.

BMW Active Tourer to hit US showrooms in 2015
Tue, 26 Nov 2013It's been over a year since BMW unveiled the Concept Active Tourer at the Paris Motor Show, and another four months since it brought the concept back in Outdoor guise (pictured above). Now word has it that the Bavarian automaker is putting it into production.
Although production specs and dimensions have yet to be revealed, the Concept Active Tourer came in a bit smaller than the existing BMW X1. The production version is expected to be based on the same platform that underpins the new Mini hatchback revealed last week in LA, meaning that it will be predominantly front-drive, but an all-wheel-drive version could follow.
There will also be a longer version with a third row of seats, forming part of a new generation of front-drive BMWs to take on the likes of the Audi A1 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class family, of which the GLA will be the Active Tourer's most direct rival. Expect the Active Tourer to arrive in 2015 with a new front-drive sedan to follow in 2017 aimed particularly at the North American and Chinese markets.
China probing German automakers over spare parts
Sat, 26 Jul 2014The Chinese market has proven to be a boon to German luxury automakers. However, the way that the companies have allegedly been controlling their supply of spare parts has begun to draw the ire of the nation's government. According to insiders speaking to Bloomberg, officials from the country's economic planning organization have opened a probe into Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and some Japanese carmakers over claimed price inflation and limiting supply.
Specifically, the investigation centers around two aspects of how the companies do business, according to Bloomberg. Investigators want to know whether the original equipment component makers are able to sell spare parts only to automaker-authorized dealers or if they are also available to independent shops. There is also the issue of whether the price markup on replacement pieces is too high. The tight controls could be partially explained by China's reputation for producing counterfeit parts.
Evidently, the investigators haven't checked parts prices at car dealers elsewhere in the world. At least in the US, paying more at the dealer for factory components just goes along with owning a vehicle. If evidence of price fixing is found, the companies could face fines the equivalent of millions of dollars, according to Bloomberg.
2014 BMW 320i
Tue, 24 Dec 2013When BMW switched its entry level 3 Series, the 328i, from a naturally aspirated, 3.0-liter six-cylinder to a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder, we weren't entirely sure what to think. Sure, from a pure numbers perspective, the new 2.0-liter cooked the old 3.0's goose, delivering more torque at far more accessible engine speeds while boosting horsepower and fuel economy.
While we miss that revvy six-pot, the numbers for the 2.0 were just way too good to pass up. Then we received news of an even less-powerful 2.0-liter 3 Series - the 320i. This was interesting, as it saw BMW delving into a power level previously owned solely by the anemic Lexus IS 250 and its six-cylinder engine.
Could BMW make a sub-200-horsepower sedan that still drove the way we expected a 3 Series to drive? To find out, we borrowed the new 320i for a week of testing.
