I am regretfully selling my 1990 735i.  We purchased it five years ago with 50K miles on it.  It was a two owner car.  The gentlemen who owned it was a car guy, and he only had it for a few months for his family to use.  He purchased it from an old lady who went into a nursing home.  He stated the car was daler serviced and I confirmed that when I took out the air filter and it was stamped BMW, I also called the local dealer who confirmed they serviced the car P&W in Pittsburgh.  When I purchased the car I performed the 60K Service II along with Hawk brakes, Brembo rotors, Stainless steel brake lines, H&R Springs, 17" wheels, stud and lug nut conversion, Jim Conforti chip, KMac Camber plates, spark plugs, belts, cap, rotor, hoses, K&N filter, and control arms.  I also updated the car audio with an Eclipse Head unit that has blue tooth, IPod and USB inputs in the glove box, Precision Power A600.2 amps one for the MB quart components and one for the 15" MB Quart subwoofer.  I removed the ski boot (you can't tell as it is covered by leather) so it has great bass response.  It also has an alarm with remote start.  I have performed all services as detailed in the manual and I am including a Bentley Manual.  At 100K I replaced the the upper control arms again with Lemforders with custom poly bushings, along with the tie rod ends, sway bar links front and rear, and lower control arms,  I also redid the brakes with Hawk pads and Brembo rotors again, and replaced the spark plugs.  Additionally around 110K the driveshaft failed (common E32 issue) and was replaced along with the rear transmission mounts and the rear seal on the transmission. The top of the car was repainted last summer due to age, there appears to be some paintwork on the passenger side front fender and rear passenger door but it is very, very hard to see.  All and all the car looks great.   I love old BMW's I recently sold my 1976 2002 SCCA ITB car and I also have a 1992 318IC.  The known issues are a little bit of curb rash on two of the rims but not enough to replace them , it could use a new pinstripe, and there is a little wear on the drivers seat, no rips (it looks better than my Suburban that only has 75K).  It requires premium fuel do to the chip but the stock computer and chip are included and only take 10 minutes to switch.  It also has a current PA inspection and emissions. The tires were replaced last summer and are nowhere near the wear bars.  Cash only and if you have less than 5 feedbacks pelase contact me prior to bidding our your bid will be canceled . Please review my feedback and how long I have been on Ebay.  I have sold cars before with good feedback.  I will assist as best I can to get the car shipped to you if necessary but I would not hesitate to drive this car wherever today.

BMW Films are on the way back [w/videos]

Mon, 17 Feb 2014

The BMW Films series caused a stir in 2001 and 2002 by combining top-quality cinematography, Hollywood names and driving excitement to sell its sporty wares in a whole new way. By arriving five years before YouTube, they ranked as some of the earliest viral videos on the internet. By now, these sorts of films are almost commonplace, but back when BMW hit upon the idea, the idea of brand-integrated short films on the internet was still a novelty. Now, for the first time in over a decade, the German automaker is planning on bringing back BMW Films for a new season.
Trudy Hardy, BMW North America Vice President of Marketing, announced the series' return at the 2014 Automotive News World Congress in Detroit, according to Ad Age. However, neither the German brand nor Anonymous Content, the original production company, have been willing to comment further on when the new videos are coming.
The original series of eight films starred Clive Owen as the Driver (back then, Owen was largely unknown to American audiences), a mercenary who would take a variety of jobs and always drive a BMW. David Fincher executive produced the first season and directors included top names like John Frankenheimer, Ang Lee and Guy Ritchie. All of the second season movies had Owen driving a Z4, but in our estimation, the quality had fallen off a bit compared to the outstanding first season.

BMW Concept Roadster has two fewer wheels than we were expecting

Fri, 23 May 2014

The annual Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on the shores of Lake Como is an opportunity for some of the most beautiful vehicles in the world to descend on one of the poshest places on earth each year. Unsurprisingly, the event is also increasingly the chance for automakers to debut exclusive concepts to some of the wealthiest auto enthusiasts in the world. In the last few years, BMW has become the masters of this annual unveiling with automotive concepts like the Gran Lusso Coupé, BMW Zagato Coupe and motorcycles like the the gorgeous Concept 90, not to mention the just-revealed Mini Superleggera Vision. But this year the Bavarian automaker has been somewhat tricky.
What would you first think when you heard of the BMW Concept Roadster? A lithe, two-seat convertible? Nope. This roadster is a cut-down, minimalist motorcycle with an ultra-modern design. As opposed to the retro looks of the Concept 90, this naked bike looks like it could fit in a BMW showroom tomorrow and not seem out of place.
The Concept Roadster packs the brand's classic two-cylinder boxer engine displacing 1,170 cubic centimeters and producing 123 horsepower and 92 pound-feet of torque. That power is routed to the rear wheel via a cardan drive, essentially a driveshaft, with a single-sided swing arm rear suspension. It's all nestled in a tubular spaceframe.

2015 BMW i8 [w/video]

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

The most important thing to keep in mind while driving BMW's all-new i8 is that it's not a product of the company's vaunted M division.
Sleek sports-coupe design, carbon-fiber construction and blistering acceleration may cause automotive enthusiasts to drool, but the i8 has not been conceptualized, engineered or assembled to be another one of BMW's world-class track stars. Instead, the i8 has been hatched as a progressive sports car from the Bavarian outfit's new i division, which "represents visionary electric vehicles and mobility services, inspiring design and a new understanding of premium that is strongly defined by sustainability." Think of it as thrilling, but with an engaging environmental twist.
It's nearly impossible to walk up to the i8 with stopping twenty feet short and taking in its styling. There's no other production car as visually fascinating - this BMW is showroom-ready sculpture that captures all of the essence of the Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept that wowed crowds at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The wind sees it as a 0.26 drag coefficient, but humans will study its beautifully crafted carbon fiber and glass panels and realize they're in the presence of the future.
