I am moving back to England and cannot justify the shipping cost..

*It is an EXTREMELY rare calypso red E30 (Manual) with tan vinyl..not even many of these in Europe so this is gold dust in North America..collectors item!
*I am only the third owner of this 1991 beautiful car; it has been loved and cared for by every owner prior to me
*Runs like new..no issues at all. All the mechanics, electrics are sound
*I had it serviced the day I brought it (oil change, etc) at a cost of $89
*I have had it detailed (outside and inside) only one week ago at a cost of $295
*Replaced headlamps and "shadowlined" the chrome to give it a sport look
*14" original mesh BBS rims standard (excellent condition)
*NO rips, tears, bolsters worn, etc and there are a few dents on the bodywork but nothing major
*Replaced muffler with a $250 magnum one (cost $200 to professionally weld/fit
*Electric windows, electric side mirrors, heated seats, and basically a top of the range vehicle at it's time
*Aircared until 03/2014
*Can do around 500km on a full tank which is pretty reasonable, and also low insurance group
*Nothing needs doing to her' she is in excellent condition- however, if you want a show car, then I would suggest just a paint job
*Sad to see her go, but she has been wonderful in the time I've had her- German engineering makes this engine a train- it will never fail on you!

I can answer any questions you may have. If you would like to purchase and you are from another province within Canada, or in the USA- then please, you will be expected to pay in full. I will be happy to deliver at a set price (which we can agree after you have won the auction.)

Happy Bidding and I will only sell this to a good home!

Thanks

On Sep-15-13 at 20:38:21 PDT, seller added the following information:

Please NOTE, this is a 1991 BMW convertible..and not 1981..for some reason ebay won't let me change this.

I am also willing to drive the vehicle (for a set fee which we can agree on) however, the car needs to be paid in full first.

Otherwise, cash upon collection works. Thank you!

BMW M135i vs. Mercedes A45 AMG in Euro small-lux throwdown

Fri, 19 Jul 2013

BMW and Mercedes-Benz - please, please, please bring the M135i and A45 AMG hatchbacks to North America. For as long as we can remember, buyers in the New World have been forced to look longingly at Europe and Great Britain and the excellent super hatches that are so routinely offered there. And while we're quite content with the Ford Focus ST and Volkswagen GTI, having a 360-horse five-door with a premium, content-rich interior sounds quite nice.
Our envy for Europe has grown after watching the latest video from Drive, which stars Chris Harris, the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG and the BMW M135i. This latest battle between MB and BMW takes place on both road and track, with Harris providing a running commentary. If you're interested in the upcoming Mercedes CLA45 AMG, you should pay special attention to the section on the A45, as the two are essentially fraternal twins. While the video is a bit on the long side, it provides a comprehensive rundown of both cars, giving those of us in North America just a small taste of what we're missing. Check it out by scrolling below.

BMW slapped with discrimination suit by EEOC

Thu, 13 Jun 2013

According to a report from CNNMoney, BMW has been hit with a lawsuit from the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after revised criminal background check policies resulted in the dismissal of 88 contractors, 70 of whom (that's about 80 percent) were black. A total of 645 contractors were required to submit to background checks at BMW's facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina after BMW switched contract companies at its plant.
Though the 88 persons who were not rehired by the new contractor all had criminal records, that may not necessarily be a legal way to screen applicants, as the EEOC counters: "BMW's policy has no time limit with regard to convictions. The policy is a blanket exclusion without any individualized assessment of the nature and gravity of the crimes, the ages of the convictions, or the nature of the claimants' respective positions."
BMW's actions were in violation of the Civic Rights Act of 1964, according to the EEOC, because they utilized "a criminal conviction policy that disproportionately screened out African-Americans." A recent bulletin offering guidance from the EEOC on the Civil Rights Act can be found here, but the EEOC's stance on the issue has been the same for years: "Since issuing its first written policy guidance in the 1980s regarding the use of arrest and conviction records in employment decisions, the EEOC has advised employers that under certain circumstances, their use of that information to deny employment opportunities could be at odds with Title VII."

Researchers halfway to cutting carbon fiber costs by 90%

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

Carbon fiber has been utilized for decades to build racecars, as a means to cut weight while maintaining strength. But until recently, the space-age material has been largely absent from the street on anything but supercars because of the expense to use it. Recently, BMW signaled a major shift in that trend when it starting using carbon fiber reinforced plastic panels on the i3 and i8. This relatively small scale start might be just the beginning; the German company believes that a breakthrough to inexpensively manufacture the lightweight stuff is just on the horizon.
MAI Carbon Cluster Management GmbH counts BMW, Audi, Airbus, the German government and many other organizations as supporters, and it's researching how to make carbon fiber cheaper to produce, according to Automotive News Europe. The company thinks it can reduce costs by 90 percent in the near future. "We've certainly reached a halfway point on our cost-cutting target for suitable carbon-fiber parts," said project head Klaus Drechsler to Automotive News Europe.
Unfortunately, it isn't entirely clear just what MAI Carbon is doing to make such a huge leap possible. However, a recent post on the company's website talks about a new form a carbon fiber using a thermoplastic matrix that could be cured in less than three minutes. That's compared to about 90 minutes in the traditional process with an autoclave.
