1995 Alfa Romeo was bought new from dealer in 1996. Quite possibly the very last Alfa ever sold in North America. Was originally imported for Canada but Paul Spruell Alfa in Atlanta sold it. My father was the original owner and used for a daily driver. About 7 years ago I purchased as a weekend / show car. Because original speakers and head unit were wearing, I put a new high end sound system in about 5 years ago. The sound system has Mp3, USB (iPod), and Bluetooth connectivity. Focal speakers. Alpine head and amp. JL sub in sealed box. Not an obnoxious sound system but defiantly makes you part of the music. Exterior was repainted about 5 years ago and garage kept since. Windows have a dark tint film applied (easily removed, if desired) (the rear window needs some additional trimming around edges with defroster). Rims have been upgraded to OZ racing 17 inch with summer tires (factory rims included). Brake lines have been upgraded with aftermarket steel brake lines. Engine is strong and has been upgraded with manufacture supplied Q intake runners. ECU is still running original factory chipset. One could easily upgrade ECU to factory or aftermarket Q chipset for additional power. Interior is all original and in good condition for age. Some minor defects in trim from sun damage most notable is the damaged rubber shifter knob. Should be easy to replace. The center climate control cluster has the Alfa typical half functioning LCD display but mechanically functions as designed. This is common for these cars and most have been replaced unfortunately I have not gotten around to this yet. Car was in a minor front end fender binder in late 90s and had some trim replaced with factory pieces.

This has been a great Alfa. As any car guy can tell you they are a lot of fun. The car gets noticed everywhere and valleys typically leave it up front with the high end Italian stallions. I'm sad to sell my baby but with a full driveway it's time for me to move on.

Share price falls on skepticism of Chrysler-Fiat five-year plan

Thu, 08 May 2014

Following this week's Fiat Chrysler extravaganza, where the Italian-American manufacturer announced its plans for the next five years, the Autoblog staff was cautiously optimistic of the company's future. Investors? Not so much.
Fiat saw its shares tumble 12 percent in Wednesday's trading, falling from 8.67 euros ($12.06 at today's rates) to 7.44 euros ($10.35) as of this writing, with blame partly going to the Italian half of the FCA marriage, which recorded a pretty significant drop in profits during the first quarter of this year.
The plan, which will cost around $77 billion over the next several years, is facing criticism from investors thanks in part to a 1.4-percent drop in Fiat's first-quarter profits, to 622 million euros ($862 million). That figure is also short of Bloomberg analysts' projections, which predicted $1.18 billion in profits before taxes, interest and one-time items.

Next-gen Mazda MX-5 Miata mule spied 'Ring testing

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Fans of simple, lightweight motoring, rejoice - we now have images of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata undergoing testing at der Nürburgring Nordschleife. Now, to be fair, this isn't some lightly camouflaged example that will give us a great peak of what the next Miata, which will also become the next Alfa Romeo Spider, will look like. This is a mule, with the new bits hidden under a current Miata's body. That doesn't mean there aren't a few scraps of valuable information here, though.
According to our flock of camera-toting spies at the Nürburgring, the next Miata is likely to grow a bit, as new models are wont to do. In particular, it will be longer and wider, and the wheelbase is likely going to be stretched, based on the shape of the wheel wells and doors. Both of those factors will add more space in the cabin.
Those are the big indications provided by these photos, but while the MX-5 might be growing, it's a safe bet based on these images that it, and the (likely pricier) Alfa, will retain the classic, long-hood, short-deck styling that so typifies rear-drive roadsters.

Marchionne uses racial epithet to describe what must power future Alfa Romeo models

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Sergio Marchionne and his Fiat empire have a lot riding on the US return of the Alfa Romeo brand. The endeavor has been in progress for what feels like a lifetime - certainly for as long as Fiat has had the Chrysler brand under its Italian wing.
It's not surprising that Fiat CEO Marchionne needs a perfect first Alfa to mark a return to America. And here's where things get dicey. Nobody would argue with Marchionne's insistence that Alfa Romeo's be powered by Italian engines - as Marchionne himself is quoted to have said at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, "There are some things that are well done in Italy."
If not what he said, then, it's how he said it that has eyebrows raised. "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it needs to be a wop engine." Wait, what's that?
