Selling a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164L with 239000 miles.  I'm a mechanic and I have cared for this car for a long time (including tuning it and changing engine & transmission oil frequently). In fact, the engine oil pressure is the same as when the car was new despite the mileage.  The engine runs smooth on all 6 cylinders (good compression) and transmission shifts good in all gears. The battery is brand new (paid $150).  The car has recently been rear-ended and that put a dent in the back bumper and a crease in the left rear fender ; however, the car drives fine (I drive it to and from work 64 miles every day).  I'm hoping to sell it to someone that is either willing to fix the rear end damage and other defects or use its parts to keep another 164 in top shape or take it apart and sell its parts.  The parts for these cars are becoming hard to find and are worth many times more than the worth of the whole car.  I'll be glad to answer any question you may have about this car.  I just reduced the asking price because I need to part with this car.

Here is a list of the good components/features of the car: Recently replaced water pump and timing belt, engine doesn't burn oil (passed NJ inspection recently), new battery, V rated tires still in good conditions (another 10 to 20 thousand miles), well balanced rims and tires.

Here is a list of the defects that do not affect driving the car, but buyer may want to fix: Warning lights come on in dash due to grounding problem (such as oil pressure, ABS, temperature), airbag light comes on and needs to be reset, heat in car is operated via cable opening and closing manual valve, engine and transmission seals lose some oil, the breather hose on top of the gas tank is cracked and needs to be replaced, front brake rotors although they brake fine, they pulsate; they need to be turned or replaced along with front pads, frame for courtesy lights dome in car fell apart (I do have all parts), antenna is stuck up, AC doesn't work, the oxygen sensor needs to be replaced (causes the checkengine light to come on sometimes).

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles: The next five years

Tue, 06 May 2014

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, you've no doubt read about all of the big future product news coming out of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles today. We had individual brand reports from Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Maserati and even Ferrari, but in the interest of simplifying and summarizing, we're going to list out the hard facts once more. Of course, with all of this still off in the future, there's still the possibility that a few changes will be made. But as of what we know right now, here's what's coming, and what's going away.

Next-gen Mazda MX-5 Miata mule spied 'Ring testing

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Fans of simple, lightweight motoring, rejoice - we now have images of the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata undergoing testing at der Nürburgring Nordschleife. Now, to be fair, this isn't some lightly camouflaged example that will give us a great peak of what the next Miata, which will also become the next Alfa Romeo Spider, will look like. This is a mule, with the new bits hidden under a current Miata's body. That doesn't mean there aren't a few scraps of valuable information here, though.
According to our flock of camera-toting spies at the Nürburgring, the next Miata is likely to grow a bit, as new models are wont to do. In particular, it will be longer and wider, and the wheelbase is likely going to be stretched, based on the shape of the wheel wells and doors. Both of those factors will add more space in the cabin.
Those are the big indications provided by these photos, but while the MX-5 might be growing, it's a safe bet based on these images that it, and the (likely pricier) Alfa, will retain the classic, long-hood, short-deck styling that so typifies rear-drive roadsters.
