2004 Ruby Red Volvo V70 5 Cyl 2.4 Wagon 4d - Good Condition - Don't Miss! on 2040-cars
Fort Worth, Texas, United States
Place your bid now on this well-loved 2004 Volvo Wagon! The car has 131K miles on it, which for Volvos, means it is just now being broken in! There are easily another 100K it can deliver. The car drives as well as it did the day it was purchased. It has survived Massachusetts winters, Texas summers, Manhattan parking, rutted farm roads and two dogs with ease. The interior is admittedly well-worn, but there are no tears in the leather. It’s just worn, and in the back, shows signs of wear from the dogs. The headliner is in great condition and all interior parts work perfectly. In 2014, the factory radio was replaced with a Bluetooth-Nav-touchscreen unit to make the car safer on the road. The original cargo cover is included and in great condition. (I just had it removed for moving artwork and forgot to put it back before I snapped photos.) Mechanically, the car has been maintained at regular intervals at Fort Worth’s Volvo Clinic. In 2013, the brakes were replaced and the car had a comprehensive overhaul before making its most recent road trip to Alabama. Like any old Volvo though, you do have to always keep oil on hand and watch your fluids. The exterior has several good scratches and nicks that have never been fixed, but would be easy to for the motivated buyer. Pictures are included. I can’t say enough good things about this member of the family. It would make a great car for a new driver, a household helper or student off to college. Safe, reliable and now with the conveniences of today’s technology! CLEAR TITLE, RUST-FREE, NON-SMOKER To view an album of photos on Dropbox, please visit: http://ow.ly/yVQo7 POWERTRAIN

Volvo shows inflatable child seat concept [w/video]
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Volvo is bringing its emphasis on safety and design to the littlest members of the family with its concept for an inflatable, rearward facing child safety seat. The design is meant to help traveling families by offering a lighter and less bulky alternative to traditional car seats.
The design is quite ingenious. The seat is covered in drop-stitched fabric, which fills with air to create the form of the seat. An electric motor in it allows inflation and deflation in less than 40 seconds, according to Volvo. It weighs less than 5 kilograms (11 pounds) and folds small enough when collapsed to fit into a bag. It even has a Bluetooth connection, so parents can begin expanding it remotely.
The inflatable seat in the brainchild of Lawrence Abele, Volvo's design manager at its Monitoring and Concept Center in Los Angeles, CA. "For many, travelling with young children is a challenge; any assistance to simplify the parents' life with young children is a great thing," he said in a statement released by Volvo. The chair remains a concept for now, and the automaker isn't saying whether it's going to put it into production, but it's a clever solution to a common problem. Scroll down for a video showing it in action and to read the release.
Volvo Recharge plug-in hybrids get big range and power bumps
Mon, Mar 14 2022Volvo's plug-in hybrid powertrain is getting a significant upgrade for 2023, resulting in all its 90- and 60-series Recharge models effectively doubling their electric range and becoming eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit. A new rear electric motor now delivers 143 horsepower from 87 hp, resulting in a combined output of 455 hp and 523 pound-feet of torque. That's a significant bump from the previous 400 hp and 472 lb-ft. These changes apply to the Recharge versions of the XC90, S90, XC60 and S60, plus the Polestar Engineered trim levels of XC60 and V60. Below are the new electric ranges for each of the Volvo Recharge models. Their previous ranges are in parentheses. S60 Recharge: 41 miles (22) V60 Polestar Engineered: 41 miles (22) XC60: 35 miles (19) XC60 Polestar Engineered: 35 miles (19) S90 Recharge: 38 miles (21) XC90 Recharge: 35 miles (18) These range increases are the result of a new long-range battery pack featuring a third layer of cells. This brings total capacity from 11.6 kWh to 18.8 kWh. There are other advantages, as well. The XC60 and S90 Recharges will now be capable of one-pedal driving, whereby regenerative braking is so strongly applied that the car effectively does most of the braking for you. This is already available on Volvo's fully electric models, and although it will initially be available only on the XC60 and S90, Volvo told Autoblog that the others will eventually get it. When exactly? Volvo did not elaborate.  Volvo says the increased battery capacity will improve performance in extreme cold and heat. It will also allow for pre-heating and pre-cooling the car, even when unplugged, without reducing all-electric range. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Volvo will start testing wireless charging with XC40 taxis
Thu, Mar 3 2022Volvo announced it will start testing wireless charging systems with its Volvo XC40 Recharge electric SUVs. It's doing so by creating a small fleet of XC40 Recharge taxis for Cabonline, the largest cab operation in the Nordic nations. The testing in Volvo's hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden, will last for three years, and Volvo notes that the driving conditions will involve 12 hours a day of driving with cars racking up 100,000 kilometers (about 62,000 miles) per year. The charging stations come from American company Momentum Dynamics. They're embedded into the pavement of the Volvos' parking spaces and begin charging automatically when parked correctly (which is aided by the on-board surround-view camera). The charging speed is 40-kW, which is close to the maximum charging speed of many electric cars' on-board chargers when connected to a DC station. Interestingly, Momentum Dynamics lists systems capable of charging speeds as high as 450 kW on its website. Volvo did not make any announcements regarding future availability of wireless charging. We would imagine the results of this testing will affect whether the company intends to make it a factory offering. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party.
