Here's a 1973 VW 3 door Bus up for sale.  This bus spent most of its life in California thru 95    Then came to Wisconsin and spent its winters in storage.  Then the second owner decided to start restoring her over time.  Body is very solid, Underneath pictures shows a real survivor. Floors are exceptional condition for a 40 plus year old vehicle. Runs better than new. Only has about 5,000  miles on a bigger than original,  Porche Boxster motor installed by Mofoco VW out of Milwaukee.  New clutch at time of motor exchange. Still has original tranny and shifter.  CV joints replaced,Trans flush, Fresh oil and Tune. New 8 ply Hancook Tires.  New Front and Rear sway bars added to cure most cross wind problems. Twin tipped exhaust, single Weber carb. Optima battery.   I believe the Porsche Motor is 2000-2100 cc.  odometer states 74,737 but is non-operable.

Interior has been updated with marine grade vinyl from sewfine on  front kick panels and back rear side panels and rear lift door. Front seats and second row 3/4 seat are recent kits from Sewfine. Has interior curtains for all windows and windshield. Eight speaker cd player. All seat belts are there and set up to haul 7 passengers. New laminate flooring in second & 3rd row seating areas. New carpeting in rear hatch area.   I also has a custom second row seat  that  that turns in a bed, that's currently out of the vehicle if you would choose to want to travel and sleep in the bus. It fits in there very nicely, and folds up for a full size seat when not in the down position. I would let it go with the bus  Its at least a $500.00 option when it was installed but I decided to get it back more to original.  All glass panels are excellent condition. Windows roll up and down.  Doors shut firmly and latch correctly. All lights, signals, horn work as they should. Speedometer works but odometer doesn't.  It has an additional heater fan set up fan/switch  to help distribute heat from the back. The dash  heater cables are at the dash just need to be hooked up.

The bus exterior  was painted with a brush by second owner, and all the metal  seems  rust free and metal has been very well protected bye this paint. No rust holes, Has some very small areas that could be some bondo, can't quite tell without getting the paint off.  It is 41+ years old. Could use a nice paint job but still get countless looks and people asking about it. It could be left as is.   With new paint you would have a 20K-25K+ bus.

All in all it runs great going down the highway.  Porsche motor with duel exhaust it sounds smooth.  I had it on the interstate and it cruise's  right along.65-75mph  Brakes are in good shape. Second owner took it all over the country and had no issues. gets about 18-20 mpg.   Some spare parts, VW book & manuals. Anyone can email me with a question - ILuvarchery@msn.com

VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.

Toyota holds onto crown of World's Largest Automaker

Thu, Jan 22 2015

Although there were hints and allegations that the Volkswagen Group might have taken the global sales crown for 2014, the final tally puts Toyota at the top with 10.23 million sales in 2014. We should really say it keeps Toyota at the top, since that makes three years in a row the Japanese company has been No. 1. Volkswagen Group came in second with 10.14 million units sold, General Motors in third with 9.92 million units sold. This the first time for both Toyota and Volkswagen to pass 10 million sales in a single year. Toyota, including its Hino and Daihatsu divisions, did it with a three-percent increase in company-wide sales on the back of strong demand in Japan and the US. Its strength in developed markets might be the reason it loses the title this year, though; Toyota forecasts a two-percent gain in sales outside of Japan, but a nine-percent drop in its home market because of a new consumption tax that encouraged buyers to purchase before the end of last year. On top of that, turmoil in Southeast Asian economies like Thailand and Indonesia depressed sales in 2014 and they're facing more headwinds. The company envisions 10.15 million sales in 2015. Volkswagen, on the other hand, "has a jet engine strapped to its back called 'China,'" where Toyota is out-of-sorts. Volkswagen Group sales fell 2.9 percent in the US last year, while Toyota gained 6.2 percent here. But Volkswagen roped in 3.7 million sales in China, a 12-percent increase. Toyota enjoyed a huge bump of 12.5 percent in China, but that only got it to 1.03 million units, missing its yearly target and leading to trouble with its Chinese dealers over unsold inventory. With Toyota on the Chinese sidelines while Volkswagen guns for No. 1 status and pledges more production capacity in China – sales there are expected to top 25 million units this year – it looks like this could be the year the VW Group takes over the lead. That would be three years ahead of its original target of 2018. An analyst in Japan said Toyota is more focused on "keeping profitability than chasing numbers" – profitability is an issue for VW right now – so Toyota might not be back at the top "for [the] coming years." Lamborghini has been developing an IPO strategy 'for a long time'

Mon, Nov 7 2022

Porsche AG isn’t the only Volkswagen AG brand that has been quietly preparing for a potential initial public offering. Italian luxury-car maker Lamborghini has been developing a strategy how to present itself to stock-market investors since well before Volkswagen asked each of its brands to come up with virtual equity stories, according to the unitÂ’s Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann. “WeÂ’ve been working on this with other agencies in order to create clarity,” Winkelmann said. “As a brand, weÂ’ve done so for a long time, to show what worth, what value we have. Up until a little while ago, it wasnÂ’t so well known.” Porsche became EuropeÂ’s most valuable automaker last month, when its market capitalization overtook that of VW a week after its IPO in Frankfurt. The debut of the 911 maker was a bold move into public markets, which have been largely shut for most of the year. VW CEO Oliver Blume has said he sees the listing as a blueprint to unlock more value from the groupÂ’s brands that also include Audi and Bentley. “An IPO drill is exactly what you do to show the public how solid you are and what is in progress for the future,” Winkelmann said. “We have a clear story and strategy for that.” Audi, which oversees VWÂ’s premium brands, said last month there are no concrete plans for an IPO of Lamborghini. A previous push to potentially spin off the carmaker and motorcycle brand Ducati ran into opposition from labor leaders. Still, LamborghiniÂ’s recent profit gains -- including a 31.9% operating margin in the first half of this year -- make a solid case for a stock-market listing, said Michael Dean, an analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence. “An IPO is something that could potentially happen in the next 18 months, depending on market conditions,” Dean said. “A ˆ15 billion valuation is entirely justifiable and could be even higher, given the margin metrics.” LamborghiniÂ’s deliveries rose 8% to 7,430 vehicles in the first nine months of the year. Operating profit climbed 69% to ˆ570 million ($567 million). Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
