Type Iii, Fastback Base 1.6l , Vw, Fastback, Bug, Thing, Mg, Fiat, Mini on 2040-cars
Santa Cruz, California, United States
Up for auction is this 1967 California Black Plate Type III VW
Fastback. I purchased the car from and older lady, and
her daughter. I have never been much into VW’s but this one captured my attention. On
tight windy roads this car actually handles better than my 67 GTO. These cars are not your average bug , as they
are distinct. I have found that even in her current condition some
who are not familiar with Type III’s become
curious about them, as they are unique. Type III's utilize a
pancake motor and thus have two trunks.
One in the front and rear of the
vehicle. They were available in three models. Squareback, Notchback and Fastback models. This
car is a running drivable car. Her name
is Heildigard (Hilldi for short). She has some rust although is an overall solid
car. Floor pan patches are needed at drivers area near pedals and under battery as far as I can tell, also in areas shown in photos. This
is not the car to buy for your son or daughter to be driven as is. She does need work. It is a good project for the person with
mechanical skills, or to be handed over to a repair specialist. Hagertry Classic Car Insurance stated the value of this particular model restored
was $17,000. The brakes need attention to drive Hilldi as she is. The car
does run and drive as stated in the auction listing and comes with a carpet
kit. We are not sure if the mileage is actual or exceeds the limits of the odometer, No mileage noted on title (pink slip). Please see odometer photo. The car should be trailored, or
trucked to her new home if your are the winning bidder. The
car is for sale with no warranty , where is.
Buyer has the sole responsibility for cost of transportation of the vehicle to her new home. I will make myself available to coordinate with
your shipper for pick up from its current location.
I have described the vehicles condition to the best of my ability. Please order your own inspection prior to
bidding with ample time for review prior
to auctions end. This is
your chance to a special piece of automotive history. Type III
VW’s are fuel efficient becoming
less and less common. Title
in hand ready to singed over to the winning bidder. If car is sold, and or shipped outside of the state of California license plates are not included as part of vehicle sale. We reserve the right to end the auction at
any time, as the car is for sale locally.
Bidding on Ebay is a legal agreement.
Non paying winning bidder(s) will be reported to Ebay. Payment Instructions: Winning bidder to pay deposit in the amount of $200.00 through Pay Pal within 24 hours of auctions ending, with remaining balance to be paid in full by cashiers check, money order sent via UPS, Fed-X DHL with delivery signature required within 10 days of

VW recalling 2.64M vehicles worldwide over engine, light issues
Thu, 14 Nov 2013Volkswagen is staging a massive, worldwide recall that's already grown from 1.68 million to 2.64 million vehicles and covers three different issues across a number of vehicles. We already reported on 61,000 Tiguans getting recalled over lighting issues - that was just in the US. Globally, however, VW will be recalling 800,000 Tiguans, according to Automotive News, with the focus on CUVs built between 2008 and 2011. The issue with the Tiguan relates to a simple fuse swap, so this is rather unremarkable, aside from the sheer number of vehicles being fixed. The real, troubling issues relate to gearboxes and pickups.
239,000 Amarok pickups (pictured right) are being recalled over fuel leaks, while 1.6 million vehicles are being recalled to swap the synthetic oil in dual-clutch transmissions with mineral oil. Now, the transmission issue is one for the global Volkswagen Group to address, not just the VW brand - vehicles from Audi, Škoda and Seat use the same seven-speed DSG and are covered under the recall, as well.
Why the switch from synthetic to mineral oil? Apparently, using the synthetic oil in a DSG and then subjecting it to stop-and-go conditions or heavy loads in a hot and humid climate can lead to electronic malfunctions, according to a Volkswagen press release. The switch, from the sounds of it, is largely a preventative measure.

VW using other manufacturing locations as leverage in battle with TN [w/video]
Sat, 26 Apr 2014We've reached a new step in the ongoing drama at Volkswagen's factory in Chattanooga, TN. The United Auto Workers recently dropped its opposition to the union vote and agreed that it wouldn't hold another ballot for at least a year. Now, the new question becomes where VW is going to build its forthcoming midsize SUV.
Earlier, it had been considered all but certain that the SUV, likely a production version of the CrossBlue concept (pictured above), would be built in Tennessee. However, it seems the Chattanooga factory might have competition to produce it. In emails obtained by The Detroit News, VW's lawyer wrote to the Tennessee economic development department in January saying, "While we understand there are some 'non-deal' issues that are causing a delay in the TN solution, VW has been successful in reaching agreement on terms at the alternative locations."
As previously reported, the state of Tennessee allegedly offered VW about $300 million in incentives to build the vehicle there and create an estimated 1,350 jobs, but it later rescinded the deal. Newly leaked documents from NewsChannel 5 (WTVF-TV) in Nashville allegedly show just how close that offer was to being completed. It appears that VW actually sent the government the first draft of a memorandum of understanding agreeing to the incentives, but the state removed the offer in late January.
