1985 Volkswagen, VW, Jetta Diesel, 1.6, 5-Speed Manual, 4-Door

1985 Volkswagen Jetta Deluxe Diesel. This car is equipped with the 1.6 diesel engine which is quite capable of over 40 mpg, yet has enough power to make it up hills easily. It is a 4-door, with factory sunroof, AC (needs a charge), 5 speed transmission, power brakes, power steering, rear defrost, decent tires and factory "snowflake" aluminum rims. NEVER SMOG THIS CAR, it is EXEMPT in California. See below for more details.

Body: No rust or body damage. Nice paint, very few flaw (a couple dings and chips). Someone did paint the grill and bumpers white, as well as the front air dam. A couple windows have a bad tint job on them (see pix). Needs the seal around the windshield replaced. Sunroof does not leak. It does have one quirk, sometimes the rear left tail light will not come on when the lights are turned on, but will work properly once it has been thumped once or twice (by hand).

Engine/TransmissionNew clutch, fresh timing belt, performance shift linkage, new clutch cable, new oil pan gasket, new dipstick gasket, new valve cover gasket, new vacuum pump gasket, new injector pump gasket. This engine runs extremely well and is very dependable. No cooling issues, the fan works as it should.

Suspension/Chassis: New CV boots, fresh Gabriel front struts, decent tires, factory "snowflake" aluminum rims.

Interior: Condition OK, with the following issues: dash has cracks, some seat stitching is coming loose, radio/cassette player does not work. All gauges work except the odometer, it recently stopped at 191K. New turn signal relay.

Title/Registration Status: Clear California title, this Jetta is being offered by owner. The California registration is "Planned Non-Operational" status, which means that it is parked and no fees are owed or occurring.

Please examine the pix carefully. We welcome any questions you may have regarding this item. Buyer responsible for shipping, seller can assist with arrangements and coordinating with shipper. VW makes $23K on every Porsche sold, more than Bentley or Lamborghini

Fri, 14 Mar 2014

It's a good time to be in the luxury car business. In Volkswagen Group's financial report for the 2013 fiscal year, it is revealed that that Porsche enjoyed an operating margin of 18 percent. That means the Stuttgart brand made on average about $23,200 per car sold, according to BusinessWeek. Bentley wasn't far behind, and Audi (which was combined with Lamborghini) posted a 10.1 percent margin. This compares to only around 2.9 percent for the Volkswagen brand.
"Luxury brands are on fire," said Dave Sullivan, an industry analyst at AutoPacific. He said that the average profit margin is between six and eight percent. Brands like Porsche and Bentley have the benefit of competing in rarefied markets. Buyers looking at one their vehicles have fewer models to shop against and don't care as much about price. They can also charge more for options, which further boosts income, according to BusinessWeek.
In a way, we should be more impressed by the continued success from Audi. Its models generally have direct competitors in every segment from the other premium automakers. Plus, their buyers aren't the captains of industry who are shopping for a Bentley. Still, the Four Rings is leading rivals in sales so far this year.

Volkswagen e-Co-Motion concept poised for delivery to Geneva

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

With Nissan getting ready to launch the e-NV200, it appears Volkswagen is looking to go after the same zero-emission commercial vehicle market with the all-electric 2013 e-Co-Motion Concept. Debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, the e-Co-Motion Concept might be small in size, but VW says it has cargo and payload capacities that should be perfect for small businesses.
Measuring 179 inches long, 75 inches wide and 77 inches tall, the e-Co-Motion Concept has about the same footprint as the current Golf, and it has a cargo capacity of 162 cubic feet and a maximum payload of more than 1,700 pounds. There isn't too much information on the e-Co-Motion just yet - such as what electric components and platform are used - but the press release posted below states while the concept is shown as a cargo van, future body styles could include a passenger wagon or a refrigerated box van.

Editors' Choice: Top Five 2013 Geneva Motor Show Debuts

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

We've returned from a very busy week in Switzerland, and in going back over all of our 75 stories from the Geneva Motor Show, our editors have gathered up their personal favorite debuts from the European expo.
The wonderful thing about the Geneva show is just how wide of an array of vehicles are on display - everything from funny little one-off EVs to the most exotic of supercars to, well, truly ridiculous displays of coachbuilding. And because of that, this list of our editors' favorites might not be as predictable as you think.
But we don't want to give anything away just yet. Scroll down to have a look at our team's favorites from Geneva.
