Thanks for checking out my Turn Key 72 Bay Window Bus, It's ready to hit the highway for a road trip! Everything has been gone through on this bus! All new electrical wiring, and fuel system replaced, as well now has a low mile (30k) 1.9 Turbo Diesel engine purchased from Quality German Auto Parts, they are a direct importer of VW replacement parts. . This is the highly sought after AAZ engine code. Has completely rebuilt and tuned Bosch injection pump, as well as new Bosch fuel injector nozzles, all pop tested and ready for a long service life. Also worth mentioning, new alternator has about a year on it, but only about 1500 miles of driving, changed Timing Belt, and tensioner at pump install, new battery, new clutch/pressure plate/ flywheel/ pilot bearing, new tires, brakes are great, new seals about a year ago, all of the doors open and close really smooth and nice. I also have 2 new black vinyl seat covers for front seats, that are not installed, but included. this is the only diesel bus  I know of, and using all Factory Vw engine/bellhousing/transmission/flywheel, no cheesy adapter plates of any kind. Has all new Torqu Flo electric cooling fan, with temp switch, nice AutoMeter boost gauge,  and EGT gauge, temp gauge, engine is tuned now to about 15 lbs of boost. Runs awesome, get stopped everywhere I go in it. Best part is an easy veggie burner conversion, and can help with that if paid in full. Only selling after all of this work due to changing careers and raising funds for start up. Thanks for checking it out. Oh, and gets about 35 miles a gallon in town.  Would be a perfect cross country trip rig! or Maybe pull your Ghia to the track? Let me know if your interested. Engine bay was all sanded and primed, sanded again, and painted white/black, and has reflective backed wool sound deading material on the underside of the rear deck to keep the clickity clackity to the tailpipe and not in the cab, very quiet inside as normal.  These engines came stock in VW Golfs, Jetta's, Passats, and many more, and have been a very popular swap in Vanagons, and many light 4x4 Conversions. Not hard to see why, with there great fuel mileage, and longevity, many on the road with over 300k miles on them and running perfect.   I have done over a dozen diesel conversions, and as you can see, I keep everything as simple as possible, and tastefully clean. The floors are solid, and look new under the rubber floor mat, overall a really nice van, there are minor paint imperfections that you can notice up close, but just normal rock dings or what have ya.  Nothing major by all means, there is a small spot on the drivers side middle under the windows that had a stick on decal of sorts, and peeled up a litt, Just do not want to give the impressions it is a show quality trailer queen, but definitely a way  above average nice cruiser.  Also, has all new wood slat luggage rack installed.  It Does not have A/C, I got a lot of questions about that before.  Email with any questions and will get right back to you.

Chrysler slows minivan production, hasn't built VW Routan this year

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Chrysler has slowed production of its Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans this week, Automotive News reports. The Windsor, Ontario plant will cut its three shifts from eight hours each to four hours each in an effort "to align production with market demand," a Chrysler spokesperson told AN. Chrysler also builds the closely related Routan minivan for Volkswagen at its Ontario facility, but has not built a single example thus far in 2013.
Sales of Chrysler's minivans fell 15 percent for the first two months of 2013, and a large part of that has to do with the 26-percent drop of the Grand Caravan alone (the T&C was only down by one percent). According to Automotive News data, as of March 1, Chrysler had an unsold inventory of 24,713 Town and Country models and 18,547 Grand Caravans - a 69- and 43-day supply, respectively.
"No sense running full speed now, then have a lot of vehicles sitting around a few months down the line," Chrysler spokeswoman Jodi Tinson told AN. Full production is expected to resume again on March 18.

2016 Volkswagen Golf TDI SportWagen Review

Tue, Sep 1 2015

You might think that after driving a Dodge Challenger Hellcat during the week of the Woodward Dream Cruise, seven days with a diesel-powered Volkswagen Golf SportWagen would be a letdown. You know, like following a shot of Jack Daniels with a sippy cup of Metamucil. But it ended up being perfect timing. Right at the end of my Challenger loan, I signed my name what felt like 1,241 times, handed over a very, very large check, and officially bought my first home. The SportWagen arrived on moving day, and I set about putting the longroof's hauling ability to the ultimate test, schlepping everything I own to my very first house. SportWagens, like Metamucil, can often be very good for you. The wagon's cargo area isn't dramatically bigger than the standard Golf – 30.4 cubic feet versus 22.8 – unless you fold the second row down. With the seats flat, the Golf SportWagen's advantage nearly doubles, to 66.5 cubic feet. But it's not just the extra space that makes moving things a lot easier. The rear hatch is more defined and sits atop a lower bumper. The load height is just 24.8 inches, while the tailgate opens to an aperture of 40.6 inches. It also opens high enough that your six-foot, one-inch author can stand tall below it. The load height is just 24.8 inches, while the tailgate opens to an aperture of 40.6 inches. In short, loading stuff into the back was a breeze. While you might expect the Golf SportWagen to make short work of a bunch of boxes, it was easy to add larger items into the mix. I hauled nightstands, a large desk chair, and even all four pieces of a king-size IKEA bed frame with a minimal amount of fuss. That said, Volkswagen uses nice materials in the cargo compartment of the Golf, so if you frequently move a lot of stuff, expect to see visible wear sooner rather than later. If you prefer to move people instead of things, rest easy knowing the wagon mimics the Golf hatchback's 35.6 inches of rear legroom. Moving locally meant a lot of back-and-forth trips. Between the actual move itself and the subsequent running around, I put 600 miles on the Golf SportWagen during my week-long loan. But with this car, I could have done way more and wouldn't have found cause to complain. It's the little details that make the Golf feel premium. The Golf's cabin is a great place to be.

Volkswagen rules out more potent Polo R

Wed, Dec 10 2014

Volkswagen may be planning ever more powerful versions of its Golf, but don't expect that lust for power to trickle down to the smaller Polo anytime soon as the German automaker has reportedly ruled out the prospect of making a Polo R. This according to Autovisie, the automotive section of Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, in speaking to VW representatives at the launch of the new Polo GTI. Where the previous Polo GTI offered 177 horsepower, the new one packs 189 and is available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The company briefly offered a Polo WRC Street with 220 horsepower, but that was only for a limited edition that Autovisie says will not be repeated for mainstream production. Which may just be for the best, as far as we're concerned, as no versions of the Polo are offered in the US, and we don't need yet another piece of forbidden fruit we can't get our hands on. The decision may seem at odds with the Polo R WRC rally machine with which Volkswagen has been dominating the World Rally Championship for the past two seasons, but was likely made in order to keep the Polo from infringing on Golf territory. VW currently offers the Golf GTI with 210 horsepower and the Golf R with 292, and showcased an even more powerful version with nearly 400 hp.
