Aguanga, California, United States
1959 VW Single Cab Transporter For Sale This 1959 model Single Cab Transporter has received a fresh restoration to very stock and original specs. The truck came out of Texas originally and was reportedly special ordered from the factory with Pearl White paintwork, something that was not normally offered in the catalog. We have sent off to VW in Germany for the Birth Certificate and are awaiting it's arrival. But I saw this Bus prior to restoration, and it was indeed this color in it's original finish. The previous owner of the truck was under the impression that the mileage on the odometer of 13,000 and change was original to the truck. There is no documentation of this, but I am doubtful of that claim due to the build up of road grime and such that was there prior to restoration. I think more likely it was 113k... The engine is reportedly the original one, the birth certificate will document this when it comes in. The truck has never been modified or customized, it is all stock and has been since new. It also looks like it was never used for heavy hauling as the bed and side gates were nice and straight and are now even cleaner of course after the restoration. Interior is all stock as well and very clean. All new rubber seals, panels, upholstery, etc. The engine room is gorgeous, very very clean and the 36 horse engine runs like a top. It has been freshly rebuilt, new bearings, etc and everything checked out internally and detailed externally. Still 6 volt electrics, new battery, fuel pump, etc. All new brakes, brand new Firestone bias ply tires from the period molds give it an even more "factory" appearance. Very straight and smooth down the sides...nice quality paintwork Underside of the engine is quite clean. New shocks all the way around. New rubber brake lines and all wheel cylinders as well. Chassis is solid with a nice clean undercoat. Interior is all freshly redone in the proper materials and colors. Clean and stock and simple, just as it was when it rolled off the assembly line. Lots of new hardware and other details as well. The under-bed area is very solid and clean The wood and canopy frame are excellent. The canvas covers are available and cost about $1400 or so. If you want one for this truck, I can refer you to the supplier. . This scan of an original sales brochure shows the way the canopy looks when installed. Here is a pic of one installed. Great look and a wonderful spot for company graphics or logo if that is your thing...or just plain as they were originally! The bed on this truck is beautiful! Nice attention to detail with the new hardware and such. With the battery out so you can see that it is solid in the corner. Engine runs like a top and is very clean! Still 6 volt electrics and all the right bits are present. Nice gates! Very straight truck. Bumpers are excellent These early visors are very hard to find in nice shape...and this one looks awesome! Original clear needle speedometer , not restored. The history that came with the truck stated that the mileage was original at just over 13,000 miles but I really think this is not the case...it is probably 113,000 based on the condition of things prior to the restoration...if it was 13k miles...it was through the dirt or something as there was a fairly heavy build up of grime around the underside, etc. The truck came out of Texas when it was found. All new window rubber and body seals. Vent wings have the proper little "Nike swoosh" deals in place. Mirror and antenna are new and look great. Nice attention to detail and clean around all the wipers and such. New floor mat and kick panels Floor is clean and painted and proper. Steering wheel is an original that has been repainted. It looks very nice but is not "perfect". Horn push is a very nice original example. Fresh air box screws are all new and look nice...these so often just get painted over. Radio block off plate is in place...dash is clean and un-cut. Door panels have the stock original design pockets. The door handles and escutcheons are the correct early "grooved" style. Exterior door handles are excellent. Latches for the gates are clean and well painted. New rubber bumpers on the gates. The wood slats are the proper profile and fit, but the originals were riveted in place. These have been screwed in place from below, through the original rivet holes. Very clean install! The early Type 2 models have been increasing in value at stratospheric rates it seems these days. The deluxe models of course have lead the way, but all the split screen range is on the rise. It is very difficult these days to find a single can transporter like this that has not been beat to crap or lowered to the ground with bling wheels and a big motor. Seeing one like this that is done totally stock and original is a very nice thing indeed. Look around...there are very few out there like this! This is a very clean truck! Up For Bids! BID NOW! VW Golf R 400 reportedly green-lit (again)
Sun, Apr 26 2015After speaking to Volkswagen powertrain boss Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser at the 2015 New York International Auto Show, we uncovered that the Volkswagen Golf R 400 would be sold in the United States... if it ever made it to production at all, that is. That prerequisite looks like it's about to be fulfilled, as the same good doctor that said the super-powered GTI would come to the US has confirmed to Car that development is currently underway. This follows up on reports from late 2014 that the 400-horsepower car would make production. "We have the Golf more sporty than ever before, since we soon will have the Golf R 400 – we will do this car," Neusser told Car. "We are in fact in development of it right now." That is, we think you'll agree, splendid news. Of course, it also begs the question of when the new car will arrive. According to Car, it'll be just "a few short months," indicating that the Frankfurt Motor Show will likely host the Golf R 400's debut later this year. Whether that proves correct, though, likely won't be clear until later this summer.
2015 VW Golf R caught getting a flogging on 'Ring
Wed, 22 May 2013The upcoming version of the Volkswagen Golf R is nearly ready for prime time, if this video of the car flying around the Nürburgring is any indication. The all-wheel-drive R seems to make quick, neat work of the corners we see here, and sounds pretty devilish in the process.
Expectations are that the new Golf R will run a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (what else?), tuned to produce even more than the current car's 256 horsepower. (Some sources have indicated outputs as high as 286 horsepower, with 280 pound-feet of torque. It's still not clear if Volkswagen will bring the six-speed dual-clutch transmission to the US-spec Golf R in this next go-round or if we'll stick to having only... eh... the stick.
In either case - watching the video below will only whet your appetite for the new, highest performing member of the Golf family.
Volkswagen rolls out all-new Polo R WRC
Sat, Jan 17 2015Volkswagen may have ruled out producing a road-going Polo more potent than the new GTI, but on the rally stage, the Polo R WRC has proven absolutely dominant. Introduced to the World Rally Championship in 2013, the Polo R won ten out of the baker's dozen rallies in its debut season, and all but one last year to win both titles two years running. That's quite an act to follow, and the task falls to the machine you see here. The new second-generation Polo R WRC was just revealed at Autostadt in Wolfsburg. The rally machine has been substantially reworked for 2015, with a new livery, new bodywork and new oily bits. In fact, Volkswagen says it has revised three quarters of the components, and while it has not yet detailed the "many new ideas [implemented] under the bonnet," it has identified the hydraulic gearbox as "the biggest innovation." Further details are still to come, but this is our first look at the new machine with which Sebastien Ogier, Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen – who finished last year's championship in first, second and third, respectively – will tackle this year's championship, starting with the Rally Monte Carlo on January 22-25. FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) New technology, new design: presenting the second generation Polo R WRC - World premiere of the 318-hp Polo R WRC in Wolfsburg - Member of the Board, Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser, launches title defence - WRC kicks off with the iconic Rally Monte Carlo from 22–25 January Wolfsburg (15 January 2015). In top form, both technically and visually: Volkswagen presented the second generation of the Polo R WRC in Autostadt, Wolfsburg. The works team from Wolfsburg has its sights set firmly on another successful defence of its titles in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) with a new car and a new look. Volkswagen completed a clean sweep of all the World Championship titles when the Polo R WRC made its debut in 2013, before repeating this impressive feat last season. Continuity is the key to the driving line-up for 2015: double world champions Sebastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) and team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala/Miikka Anttila (FIN/FIN) and Andreas Mikkelsen/Ola Floene (N/N) will roll down the starting ramp and head onto the first special stage of the year for Volkswagen at the legendary Rally Monte Carlo on 22 January. "The new Polo R WRC has undergone intense further development, both on the inside and the outside," said Dr.
