I've decided to sell my beloved 1971 Volkswagen Beetle. I just don't drive it enough to justify owning it. I'd like to see it go to someone that would drive and enjoy it on a regular basis. I purchased it 6 years ago in Oklahoma City for $3500. I looked at many other Beetles before I bought this one. I liked this one because it had no rust, it started and ran great, and it had low miles. It now has only 95,000 original miles. It has never failed to start, even on the coldest winter days. It has definitely been one of the most reliable cars I've ever owned. It has the original 1600 cc 4 cylinder engine. The engine compartment is very clean and well kept. Items I have replaced include all 4 shocks, front sway bar poly bushings, SCAT shifter, steering dampner, engine heater hoses, oil pressure switch, and shift rod bushing. I also recently drained and replaced the transmission fluid with Mobil 1 75W90. Recent oil change as well. I put 4 new tires on it about 3 years ago. I've only put a few thousand miles on them since then. I also put 4 new EMPI 8 spoke wheels on the car. This car has always been garage kept. I have some brand new parts that have not been installed yet, including ball joints, muffler with exhaust tips, tie rod ends, horn ring, new black headliner, running boards, kick panels that will hold speakers, and door panels. A year or so ago, I removed the seats and took out the old original carpet. I also had the seats recovered but have not reinstalled them yet. I was going to do that after I put in the carpet. This Beetle came from the factory without a radio. I have a nice JVC CD player that I was going to install in the glove box. The body on this car is great to be over 40 years old. Just a few minor dings and scuffs. The original paint is a little faded and showing its age. The floors, rockers, and fenders are nice and rust free. I'm sure the winning bidder will be happy with the condition of this car. It starts easily and shifts through all 4 gears fine. The turn signal doesn't work, but a new one is included. All the glass is good, and the windows roll up and down fine. I do have the original cardboard piece that goes over the gas tank under the hood. Once you put new carpet in, you can reinstall the seats and have an awesome daily driver or first car for your kid. The tag has expired, so you will have to update that. Contact me with any questions. I do not have PayPal, so payment must be made by cash or money order upon pickup. GOOD LUCK!

Volkswagen bringing new Touran minivan to Geneva
Wed, Feb 25 2015Volkswagen is bringing a wealth of new metal to the Geneva Motor Show this year. Unfortunately little if any of it is ever likely to reach American shores. There's the new Passat Alltrack, the Golf GTD Variant and a trifecta of new vans: the facelifted Caddy, the revised Sharan and this, the new Touran. Smaller than the Sharan, the Touran is Germany's top-selling minivan and boasts over 1.9 million units sold to date. It was introduced to the VW passenger van lineup in 2003 and was replaced in 2010 with an all-new model. What you're looking at here is the third-generation Touran, based on VW's ubiquitous new MQB architecture. Most obvious is the new sheet metal that makes it look sharper and more in step with the rest of the German automaker's lineup compared to the model it replaces. But there's more to the new Touran than its skin. It's also nearly five inches longer, with most of that length added in the wheelbase to give it a more commodious cabin that's also been updated with the latest equipment and offers room for up to seven passengers. Despite the larger size, it's a good 136 pounds lighter than the outgoing model, so it promises better performance in both its driving dynamics and its environmental credentials. Prospective customers (in markets where the Touran is sold) will be able to choose from a range of three gasoline and three diesel engines ranging from 108 horsepower up to 187, burning as much as 19 percent less fuel than the outgoing model's lineup thanks to features like stop/start engine management and brake force regeneration. There's even a sporty R Line package to give it a little visual aggression. For better or worse, though, the US market will almost certainly be left out: reached for comment, our source at VW USA pointed out that the Touran and Sharan aren't big enough to fill the shoes left by the Routan - but that the upcoming three-row crossover will. Volkswagen presents the new Touran - Germany's best-selling MPV completely redeveloped - More room; smart new design - New engines up to 19 per cent more economical Volkswagen presents the new Touran. The completely redesigned MPV was showcased before an audience of international media representatives at the Autostadt in Wolfsburg, not far from the production site where the popular family car is made. The interior of the new model has undergone a significant increase in size and is highly configurable.
Giorgetto Giugiaro launching new design firm
Mon, Sep 21 2015Giorgetto Giugiaro may have sold his remaining shares in the Italdesign firm he started, but he's not about to retire from the business altogether. According to an interview with Automotive News Europe, he's starting a new design consultancy. And he's taking his son, Fabrizio, with him. After working for established design houses Bertone and Ghia, the celebrated designer founded Italdesign Giugiaro in 1968. In 2010 he and his son Fabrizio sold 90.1 percent of the firm to the Volkswagen Group, with Fabrizio initially carrying on as its chief designer before Wolfgang Egger replaced him. Just months ago, the Giugiaros sold their remaining stake and resigned their seats on the board of Italdesign. The move came hot on the heels of the departure of ousted board chairman Ferdinand Piech, a longtime friend of Giorgetto's and the driving force behind VW's acquisition of Italdesign. Just because they're no longer affiliated with Italdesign Giugiaro doesn't mean, however, that the Giugiaros won't be designing cars anymore. They're reportedly working on establishing a new design house, and are discussing potential contracts with unnamed Chinese and South Korean automakers. The father-son pair could set up shop in a refurbished existing location (as the pragmatic Fabrizio favors) or build a new studio from the ground up (as the visionary father prefers). We'll have to hold on to see what direction the new firm takes, but most of all, we'll be looking forward to seeing what designs it produces.
