NO RESERVE!

One owner 2005 Toyota Prius with dealer Package 6 (top of the line for the year).

This car was driven by my wife (a college professor) on a daily 180 mile round trip commute,
all highway miles except for 4 miles.

Car has had ALL maintenance done on schedule with the records to prove it.

New Stuff:
We just put new tires on the car,
  • High Mileage-
  • Low Rolling Resistance tires
  • with a water traction tread.
  • These are excellent for both mileage and bad weather driving.
New Serpentine Belt

Interior:
  • The interior is in good condition (we do have kids).
  • There is minor wear/tear as evidenced by the pictures
  • overall nice shape.
  • Everything is in working order in the interior.
  • There are no missing items in the interior.

This car is beautifully set up for the driver with conveniences (one of the reasons we bought it).

Conveniences include:
  • Steering Wheel Control Buttons for
  • Premium JBL Sound System with Multi Disc Changer and AM/FM radio.
  • Climate Control to control the temperature digitally (awesome)
  • Bluetooth integration for phone and other devices (works great)
  • Voice Command Console. Control your car with voice commands (our kids had a good time doing this)
  • Navigation System
  • Multiple power outlets
  • Multiple cup holders
  • Double Glove Box
  • Homelink System to program multiple garage door opening codes
  • Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror

Passenger/Other
  • The back seats both fold down to store more when using the trunk/hatchback.
  • The trunk has a cargo cover
  • Rear window has defrost and a wiper with wash capability.

The Bad
The front right side of the bumper where it meets the wheel well was peeled back enough to break the clips on the bumper (purely cosmetic, but more than I wanted to spend to fix it).

My wife didn't do this...I did...and I still hear about it!

I was backing out of our garage and at a creeping pace just barely caught the corner of that piece on the door trim to the closet in our garage. Otherwise, this car has been in 0 accidents.

I put a screw in it to hold it firm and it works fine (even in car washes).

The Navigation is DVD based (look under the drivers seat) and is the original DVD. Works fine for our in state driving (and I am sure elsewhere) but I assume any roads that were built since 2005 are not on it!

Bottom Line:
You can drive this car anywhere
If my kids were old enough to drive I'd keep it and give it to them (super safe, great mileage, low insurance).
The entire history of the car is available.
There is nothing mechanical that needs to be fixed.
I think this car is a great buy and a great deal from a trusted seller (me : )!

Asian automakers still reluctant to use more aluminum

Tue, Jun 24 2014

There's a logical progression of technology in the auto industry. We've seen it with things like carbon-ceramic brakes, which use to be the sole domain of six-figure sports cars, where they often cost as much as an entry level Toyota Corolla. Now, you can get them on a BMW M3 (they're still pricey, at $8,150). Who knows, maybe in the next four a five years, they'll be available on something like a muscle car or hot hatchback. Aluminum has had a similar progression, although it's further along, moving from the realm of Audi and Jaguar luxury sedans to Ford's most important product, the F-150. With the stuff set to arrive in such a big way on the market, we should logically expect an all-aluminum Toyota Camry or Honda Accord soon, right? Um, wrong. Reuters has a great report on what's keeping Asian manufacturers away from aluminum, and it demonstrates yet another stark philosophical difference between automakers in the east and those in the west. Of course, there's a pricing argument at play. But it's more than just the cost of aluminum sheet (shown above) versus steel. Manufacturing an aluminum car requires extensive retooling of existing factories, not to mention new relationships with suppliers and other logistical and financial nightmares. Factor that in with what Reuters calls Asian automaker's preference towards "evolutionary upgrades," and the case for an all-aluminum Accord is a difficult one. Instead, manufacturers in the east are focusing on developing even stronger steel as a means of trimming fat, although analysts question how long that practice can continue. Jeff Wang, the automotive sales director for aluminum supplier Novelis, predicts that we'll see a bump in aluminum usage from Japanese and Korean brands in the next two to three years, and that it will be driven by an influx of aluminum-based vehicles from western automakers into China. Only time will tell if he's proven right. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Sean Gallup / Getty Images Plants/Manufacturing Honda Hyundai Mazda Nissan Toyota Technology aluminum

Coming Toyota Supra to forgo hybrid, get a BMW six-cylinder turbo?

Mon, Mar 30 2015

For years, almost all of the talk about the Toyota FT-1 concept becoming a resurrected Supra envisioned a hybrid under the hood. And then the latest take on Future Toyota 1 showed up at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show and - although Toyota wouldn't say a word about any engine at all - horizons began to expand. Imaginary fancies were aided by the news that Toyota had partnered with BMW to develop a sports car on the next-generation BMW Z4 platform, which would necessarily mean an engine bay designed to accept an old-fashioned hunk of gas-burning iron-working solo. Car and Driver now turns the whole thing around, reporting that there will be an inline-six with forced induction provided by BMW under the hood. What about that hybrid, though? The report states, "there's currently no indication that the Silk Road cars will offer hybrid options" - 'Silk Road' being the codename for the jointly-developed vehicles. CD makes a point to note that said tidbit came from Germany, not Japan. However, designers at Toyota's Calty studio did tell Automotive News last year that they designed the body with an inline-six in mind, a nod to the Supra's history. Hybrid rumors aren't dead yet, though - remember, we were hearing about all-wheel drive and supercapacitors in May 2014. The coupe is predicted to be a 2018 model, making its appearance sometime in 2017, and be "about 10 percent" smaller than the FT-1 concept. Related Video:

Toyota gives dealers permission to drop Scion, shows them FR-S droptop, Juke rival first

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

We recently heard that Toyota could be looking to shrink its network of Scion dealerships, and now Automotive News is reporting that the automaker has officially given its dealers the green light to dump Scion without any penalties. Currently, Scion has about 1,000 dealers, yet our report from August 8 quotes an industry analyst as suggesting a healthier figure would be between 350 and 500 outlets. But before its current dealers make a decision on whether or not to get rid of the youth-oriented brand, Toyota also showed off a couple potential future products in the pipeline.
The FT-86 Open Concept shown above was revealed back in March at the Geneva Motor Show, and AN says that an FR-S convertible was driven on stage at a recent national Toyota dealer meeting in Atlanta. There has still been no definitive word one way or another as to whether the droptop model will be built, but it could be a good way to follow up to the popular FR-S coupe. Another possible future product is a subcompact crossover, which was shown in drawing form at the meeting, presumably aimed at small CUVs like the Nissan Juke and the upcoming Honda CUV based on the Fit, a model recently previewed by the automaker's Urban SUV concept.
