Here's your chance if you want the best of the best. Here's a drop-dead gorgeous 1980 Beige Land Cruiser FJ40 that has undergone an extensive restoration from top to bottom with meticulous attention to detail. She rides and drives beautifully and without issue.

Miraculously, this FJ40 has been able to dodge many of the of the undesirable modifications that you often see. You won't find diamond plate, a V8, rear quarters cut out for flares or any jerry cans bolted on. The truck does have a very nice leak-free sunroof which was added at the time of purchase. It can tipped open or glass completely removed.  It's got the original Toyota 2F 6-cylinder and the emission control or smog equipment appears to be intact. The inline six-cylinder hums and the steering, clutch, transfer case and transmission are all in excellent working order.

Overview:
This FJ40 was restored by the previous owner who was very detail oriented, maintenance and performance minded. The engine was rebuilt and a performance distributor and other upgraded components were added which result in a great running engine. She does not burn oil or leak any fluids. Inside you will find a beautiful cabin upgraded with brighter LED signal and cluster lighting, additional amp meter, manifold pressure meter, aviation compass, sunroof and a high quality audio system. Having spent most of her life in dry climates, she’s in nearly perfect shape. The pictures tell the story and there are many to see if you click the links below. This FJ40 will not disappoint!

Interior:
The interior is flawless. The front seats have been reupholstered and the rear jump seat retain the original upholstery and they look great. The metal seat backs were sandblasted and powder coated. You will find the correct 1980 rear heater installed and finished in satin black. Correct 1980 center console, original headliner and Kenwood AM/FM/CD with speakers in doors and in the rear.  There's new door weatherstripping on all doors, all windows work smoothly and seal well. 112K miles indicated on odometer and believed to be accurate. All OEM original mats front and rear. All 4 seat belts are intact, not frayed, and work well. The rear heater works great as do all gauges and controls. All turn signals, lights, wipers, washers, taillights, backup lights, license plate lights, side markers, stereo and all gauges work perfectly. Both interior door panels as well as the dashpad are perfect. Includes the jack, jack rods and toolkit.

Body:
Repainted inside and out with Dupont single-stage urethane with hardener – Color matched to Toyota Beige 464. Rooftop and rain gutter repainted white, headlight bezel media blasted and painted white. Any rust was cut out and replaced with metal and rust proofed. There are no dents, dings or damage to the body. OEM front bumper with Halogen spots and fog lamps. During restoration she received new parts galore, rubber hood pads, hood hooks, all emblems & gaskets, new front and rear lamps, new mirrors, new transfer case shifter boot, etc. Set up to tow your favorite toy with a standard hitch receiver and 4 pin flat wiring. Cruiser is dealer equipped with Warn free wheeling hubs. The truck sits on a stock suspension and has a smooth ride compared to most. The Wildcat Radial tires are 80% and are mounted on OEM stock white wagon wheels! The spare is the original Dunlop Snow Cruiser.

Toyota Me.We concept is a multifunction Tupperware car [w/video]

Wed, 24 Apr 2013

Not to be outdone by the Renault Twin'Z concept penned by Welsh designer Ross Lovegrove, Toyota has partnered up with French designer Jean-Marie Massaud to create the 2013 Toyota Me.We Concept. Unveiled at Le Rendez-vous Toyota in Paris, the Me.We Concept is an attempt to imagine a car that can be appreciated by owners across a wide variety of lifestyles while being courteous to the environment, too.
From a "Me" perspective, the concept is highly customizable with removable body panels, and even though it might look like just a small hatchback from the outside, Toyota claims it can also be used as a pickup (with an extendable rear panel), a convertible (with a neoprene roof panel) and even an off-road vehicle. As for the "We" part of the car, it's a fully electric vehicle with individual in-wheel motors and a battery pack mounted under the load floor. The concept has a weight of around 1,600 pounds kept low thanks to an aluminum chassis, but it also features renewable bamboo wood for the floor in addition to the fully recyclable polypropylene exterior body panels. Toyota takes aim at Musk's criticism of hydrogen 'fool cells'

Tue, Jan 27 2015

Tesla's Elon Musk has called hydrogen fuel cell cars "a load of rubbish" and "fool cells," and he's nowhere near alone in his disdain for the technology. Toyota has been fighting back waves of condescension for years now, and did so again when Senior VP Bob Carter took the stage at the recent J.D. Power Automotive Summit this month. His target was comments that Musk made at the Automotive News World Congress at the Detroit Auto Show, when Musk said an FCEV was an "extremely silly way" to store energy, that "the best-case hydrogen fuel cell doesn't win against the current-case battery" and that hydrogen's failings will become obvious in the next few years. Carter's response was that the fuel cell initiative isn't about the next few years. "This is not a 24-to-36-month play, but when you start looking into the 2020s," then you can see the necessity of hydrogen fuel cells, which Toyota considers an extension of EV technology, he said. The Toyota Mirai will begin its defense of the FCEV industry in the US later this year. The Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell is already available in California and Honda's hydrogen car will arrive in 2016. Until then, we can let some more of Carter's words ring in our ears: "If I was in a position where I had all my eggs in one basket," he said of Musk's BEV-only focus, "I would perhaps be making those same comments." Dubai claims debut of Toyota GT86 sedan concept

Sun, 03 Nov 2013

Typically, when the organizers of an auto show reveal that a new car will debut at their show, we take notice. But this particular claim from the Dubai International Motor Show ought to be taken with a grain of salt.
As our compatriots at AutoGuide discovered, the Facebook page for the Emirates auto expo includes a post with an interesting claim: that a sedan based on the Toyota GT86 (known in the US as the Scion FR-S) will debut at the show. The Facebook post is accompanied by the image above, purporting to show the concept in question.
The strange part is that the organizers claim the four-door GT86 concept will make its "regional unveil" at the Dubai show, which would seem to indicate that the concept in question would make its international debut at an earlier show. Considering that the doors open in Dubai on Tuesday, that seems increasingly unlikely. All of this begs the question, If this isn't actually a four-door GT86, what might it be?
