I've owned this Landcruiser for the past four years. After an exhaustive search (years!) it was purchased in Trona, CA , a desolate town on the Southwest of Death Valley(one of the driest areas in the United States, they average 3 inches of rain a year!).

I purchased this car from a machinist whose wife owned the first/last ice cream shop as you exit or enter Death Valley. She would load the ice cream in the back, drive down their dirt road 7 miles, and drive back to their massive garage 5 days a week. They used the truck to supply the Star Wars and Planet of the Apes film crews when they were in town. When I purchased the truck it had 87k miles on it 4 years ago. With impeccable maintanence performed by the previous owner. I have kept this up for my duration of ownership.

I have every single maintenance record since vehicle was purchased.

The only flaw with the truck is the right rear quarter panel has a small dent. This was from backing up into the truck by the previous owner. It was never a big deal to me just thought I would point it out. Windshield is cracked but I will have entire windshield replaced on completion of auction(I live on a dirt road in Colorado)

I have had BFG A/T 33x10.5's on the truck in the past but went to Duratracs this past winter.

The truck has never left me stranded and I have been up to the far reaches of Quebec and all the way down to the Southern tip of Baja. The 4Lo and Hi work phenomenal in conjunction with the Aisian locking front hubs. With the 23.8 gallon tank I can get over 420 miles to the tank on highways.

Be prepared to do the Landcruiser wave many times a day while driving this truck! It gets a lot of attention.

Please review the photos as I feel they are the true representation of the overall condition of the vehicle. And feel free to ask any and all questions prior to placing a bid and I will answer them as quickly and honestly as possible. Inspections are certainly welcome prior to auction ending -- not after please; as this auction is to purchase and not to simply hold. Any repeated questions I will display below for all to review.

I certainly do not intend to exclude anyone from attempting to bid on this vehicle. However "zero bidders" are discouraged from bidding by having a valid Paypal account necessary to place a bid. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction completion, with the balance due within 7 days. Please review the payment instructions and methods accepted below prior to bidding. Again, if you have any questions just let me know. Thank you for looking, and good luck if you choose to place a bid.

Edmunds ranks the best used cars for 2013

Sun, 15 Sep 2013

When people ask us what car we would recommend for them, it's usually not easy to answer. To make a useful recommendation we must consider which of the numerous vehicle segments fits their needs best, and then choose one of the many vehicles offered in each segment. For some people, new cars don't meet their expectations of value, because they lose so much of it the moment they are purchased and driven off the dealer lot. For them, there's always the used-car market, where great deals can be found, but cars' histories of reliability and maintenance records - and perhaps that Certified Pre-Owned warranty - become ever-important factors playing into purchase choice.
To help out, Edmunds has done us the favor of assembling a list of the best used vehicles money can buy, covering model years 2006-2011, according to what it considers the most important criteria when shopping for used autos: reliability, safety, value and availability. That means unreliable, unsafe, super-expensive or limited-edition models don't appear on the list, but instead cars from each segment that are more likely to satisfy the general population.
There are some real goodies on the list, including but not limited to vehicles such as the capable Honda Fit, the cultish Honda Accord coupe (which can be had with a 240-horsepower V6 and a six-speed manual transmission some years), and the powerful Chevrolet Corvette. While Edmunds' choice of the Volvo C70 for best used convertible baffled us at first (not that it's a bad car), it redeemed itself by stating that the Mazda MX-5 still is an unofficial top choice if you don't require more than two seats.

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder and West Coast Editor James Riswick, and this week, it's (almost) all about vans! James recently wrote a head-to-head comparison of the 2021 Toyota Sienna and 2021 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, and he talks us through the results. John recently reviewed the 2022 Kia Carnival, which is replacing the Kia Sedona. After discussing the minivan field as a whole, our editors identify some reasonable minivan alternatives in the SUV and crossover realms. Moving along, they talk about driving the long-term Hyundai Palisade and the new Mitsubishi Outlander before discussing their favorite highlights from the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show. Toyota pimps out Esquire van for Japanese businessmen [w/video]

Wed, 29 Oct 2014

A few months back we reported on a dealership owner in Japan who was petitioning Toyota to make a luxury van. The problem, he reasoned, was that he couldn't take as many friends, colleagues and clients around with him in his Lexus LS, and his Toyota Alphard van wasn't luxurious enough. Well, it seems like he wasn't alone, and Toyota has listened.
The Japanese auto giant has just revealed the Esquire, a new luxury van designed with just such customers in mind. It's significantly smaller than the Sienna we get in America, smaller than the aforementioned Alphard and about the same size as (this writer's favorite) the JDM Noah van (on which we gather it's based). But what sets the Esquire apart is its upscale appearance.
The boxy van is distinguished by its dominant T-shaped chrome grille with a unique emblem that encompasses a shield, sword, "the collar of a gentleman's suit" and the letters Esq. The flank is characterized by a strong beltline with chrome lower window frame and an expansive greenhouse with tinted rear glass. Inside the flexible cabin you'll find accommodation for seven or eight passengers (depending on specification), synthetic leather upholstery and wood and metallic trim. There are even wheelchair-enabled models on offer as well.
