We have been working on this sweet truck for over six months and here it is. It currently still has it's original 4 speed trans with the original 2F motor.... however, 2nd gear is going out and I happen to have a strong running 350 with less than 5000 miles and an automatic 4 speed with an overdrive transmission. The new owner can specify to have the original set up rebuilt(transmission) or have the 350 with 4 speed installed. I know which way I would go, but there is those out there that love Original!! This truck started as a stock toyota fj60, brown with minor imperfections. It had a dent in the passenger rear quarter that was pulled and repaired. The body was taken down to the metal and finished correctly. It has 3 coats of GM chocolate brown metallic paint with a black and gray stripe laid in and 4 coats of clear coat. Everything came off of this truck before it was painted (doors, rear hatch, all of the lights, handles, mirrors, etc) The jambs have also been painted so none of the old color is shown. All of the parts on the exterior are either new or reconditioned. -New ARB front bumper/bar -New 8000 lb. Warn winch -New IPF lights from ARB -New complete Old Man Emu suspension-Heavy springs, sport shocks, spring bushing kit, U bolts, front and rear greasable shackle, greasable pin and plate and steering damper. -New 33x10.50x15 BFG tires includes a matching spare -New Pioneer stereo -New Tuffy lockbox -New ARB touring roof rack with fit kit for Simpson tent -New ARB Simpson tent series 3 -Rear bumper was stripped of chrome and painted to match the front bumper -Wheels are in excellent condition -Interior is in excellent condition with a few items to note. -2 really small holes in the headliner, 2 door panels have areas that are missing the vinyl.(I will try to source new ones before the sale) but no guarantee, driver seat has a small tear on the vinyl but will be replaced and unnoticeable. -It has a new ARB 50 qt. fridge/freezer with a new ARB slide that can be sold with the truck but is not included in the sale. It is just sitting in the back cargo area and the slide has not been bolted down. I would be happy to entertain any offers as this truck is going up for sale locally. I can be reached at (307) 752-6033 I am very serious about people making inspections or test drives before the auction ends. Please don't win the auction, travel all the way here and expect to negotiate. I would happy to accommodate any inspections at the buyers expense. I would be happy to help with shipping but is the financial responsibility of the buyer. Happy bidding everyone!!! |

Toyota plans $126M expansion of MI R&D facility
Fri, Dec 19 2014Toyota has just announced that it will be investing $126 million to expand its operations in and around Ann Arbor, MI. The move will add around 85 jobs. In addition to expanding its Ann Arbor powertrain research and development facility (shown above), Toyota will also establish a new facility for vehicle development at its York Township facility. The move will allow the company to centralize its operations, "increasing their scope, responsibility and decision-making ability," Toyota said in a statement. "Centralizing our vehicle development and powertrain functions here in Michigan is beneficial for our decision-making process and allows us to better respond to changes in the marketplace while improving the speed at which we can offer technology advances to customers," says Ed Mantey, the senior VP at the Toyota Tech Center. This is Toyota's second investment in the Ann Arbor area in barely a year, as it made a $28 million investment late in 2013. Scroll down for the official press release from Toyota. More Toyota in the Motor City Toyota Technical Center to consolidate development operations December 18, 2014 Ann Arbor, Mich. (Dec. 18, 2014) – Toyota announced today that it is planning another expansion of its Southeast Michigan R&D campuses. This marks the third time in just over a year that Toyota has announced plans to increase employment and investment in Michigan. Today's announcement features a total investment of $126 million for the expansion of Toyota's powertrain operations at its Ann Arbor campus and the consolidation of vehicle development operations at a new facility on its York Township campus. Both vehicle development and powertrain functions will become centralized in Michigan, increasing their scope, responsibility and decision-making ability while providing improved communication and access to the company's direct procurement division. Approximately 85 jobs will relocate to Michigan from California by the end of 2016 as a part of the move. In late 2013, Toyota announced a $28 million expansion of its Ann Arbor operations and earlier this year announced the addition of 250 direct procurement and supplier engineering development positions currently based in Erlanger, Ky. "The Technical Center continues to be a vital part of our growing North American operations that enables Toyota to package greater value for our customers," said Ed Mantey, senior vice president at the Toyota Technical Center.
Toyota recalling 342k Tacomas due to faulty seatbelt pretensioners
Wed, 07 Aug 2013Toyota is voluntarily recalling 342,000 Tacoma Access Cab pickups, produced between 2004 and 2011. The wide-ranging recall is due to faults in the screws that attach the belt pre-tensioner to the belt retractor. There are concerns that the screws can loosen themselves over time, especially if the access door is opened and closed with too much force. It's important to note that the recall only covers the driver and front passenger seat, and is limited to just the Access Cab trucks. Other body styles aren't affected.
If the screws come loose, the pre-tensioner and retractor spring could separate from the belt entirely, which would be bad news in a crash. There's no mention of injuries or accidents due to the faulty pre-tensioners. Owners affected by the recall will be notified soon, and asked to come in for recall service.
The real reason automakers are giving away free hydrogen
Wed, Nov 19 2014Just like Hyundai did with its Tucson fuel cell, Toyota is offering free hydrogen fuel with the $57,500 Mirai H2 sedan. Toyota is being a bit vague about the details, saying simply that Mirai drivers will get, "complimentary hydrogen fuel for up to three years." Turns out, the reason that the hydrogen avant-garde will not be paying anything at the pump isn't because the automakers want to give them a boost or because the OEMs are kind. Instead, it's simply impossible to accurately charge people for hydrogen right now. It's simply impossible to accurately charge people for hydrogen right now. At an in-depth hydrogen seminar this week as part of the Mirai preview, three representatives from various hydrogen organizations revealed that the current hydrogen stations (most of which are in California) are not set up to accurately measure the hydrogen that is dispensed. Without this little bit of information, you can't charge customers for the fuel they use. Toyota is well aware of this, and Toyota Motor Sales' national manager of environmental, safety and quality communications, John Hanson, said that, "There are no set standards, so there is no way to charge people for anything." Alberto Ayala, the deputy executive officer for the California Air Resources Board, said CARB is in the middle of developing a way to sell a given amount of hydrogen, "which up to this point doesn't exist. If you think about it, it's a real simple yet real practical challenge. If you're going to pay for X amount of hydrogen, you're actually getting that amount of hydrogen." Ayala said it's not a difficult technical problem to measure the hydrogen as it goes into the car, but "we just have not done it. We are at a point where we are solving multiple remaining questions [with hydrogen infrastructure], and that just happens to be one of them." The National Institute of Standards and Technology says that there has been a discussion to change the current tolerance of two percent up to 10 or 20 percent, but that new technology should be able to measure accurately to within one percent. Air Liquide is working with Toyota to launch the Mirai in the US and Air Liquide CEO Ole Hofelmann told AutoblogGreen that being able to charge customers will be key to the technology's success. "We need to make sure we accurately measure the gas," he said.
