Hi there, I'm selling my 1987 Supra Targa Top Turbo. I just replaced the head gasket with ARP headstuds and a OEM toyota head gasket, also when the head was off I replaced almost every gasket in the upper half of the engine. I used a Toyota OEM upper head gasket set. The car did not blow the headgasket I replaced it, because its a common problem with these cars and replaced it before the inevitable. The car runs has a few extras.

The car has a single turbo 3.0L straight six (7mgte), mated to the famous (R154) toyota five speed manual transmission.

The car has the current modifications: ST sway bars, Stance Coilovers, Apexi Intake, Mishimoto Aluminum Radiator and a Raptor Racing Turbo Back exhaust full 3".
On the interior it has a Momo Montecarlo steering wheel (with blue stitching), Apexi boost gauge, and a TRD weighted shift knob.
Also, the Targa Top does not leak on this car.

The supra also has the popular lexus afm and 550cc injector upgrade.
The clutch was replaced with an Exedy one.
The rear diff was replaced with one that has about 70k miles.
Also, the front ball joints were replaced along with all new brake pads and rotors, it has a new Interstate battery installed last year, and NGK blue spark plug wires.

The car will come with another 7mgte I have and all the stock parts (exhaust, sway bars, suspension, intake and other parts)

The only negatives the car has are, that the body has scratches and the rear bumper is slightly faded (it's 27 years old), and the driver side fender has a dent in it, but I have a replacement that needs to be painted, and the transmission is great besides it has a slight grind in third gear at high rpm's. I never drive the car hard, so it is not going to get any worse.

The car runs great, and does not hesitate or turn off while driving. This is an original turbo car, not a converted car. Also, for an extra $800 I will include an ETS intercooler kit that I purchased used and have not installed, this kit is hard to find and new goes for $1200 or more.

Toyota GT86 gets TRD treatment in UK

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

As dearly as we love the Toyota GT86 / Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ franchise, we readily admit we wouldn't look sideways at a model with a bit more firepower. And while that's not quite on the table yet, Toyota has been busy amping up the visual firepower of its rear-drive coupe with a whole host of TRD parts. To this point, that's been a largely à la carte affair, but the automaker's UK outpost has just announced a special-edition model that allows our British friends to pick up the whole shooting match all in one go.
The Toyota GT86 TRD will only be available in black and white, and just 250 examples are to be built. As you can see from the excellent gallery above, the catalog of look-faster bits include a more aggressive front air dam, side skirts, rear bumper fascia, spoiler and unique 18-inch forged alloys. Additional flourishes include a TRD shift lever and branded radiator cap. The sole concession to actual performance? A "fast-response quad exhaust" that might only improve things audibly - 0-62 mph is apparently unchanged at 7.7 seconds, and the top end is still 140 mph for the manual transmission model. (The auto gets by with 8.4 seconds and 130 mph).
Pricing? Glad you asked. £31,495 for GT 86 TRD manual, £32,995 for the automatic - that's nearly $50,000 US for the tripedalist and just over for the automatic. (Those are heady prices, but bear in mind that UK MSRPs and taxes are generally significantly higher than their US counterparts). If the standard GT86 is more your speed, it still rings up at a more affordable £24,995 - roughly $39,500 - leaving plenty of budget for actual performance parts. No word yet on North American availability of a special TRD model, but we've got a call in...

Toyota, Mercedes, BMW top automakers included in List of Best Global Brands

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Interbrand, a consultancy firm, has published its 13th annual list of the best global brands. Besides seeing some shakeups at the top - Apple and Google unseated Coca-Cola (a company that has dominated the survey since its birth), the 100-item list features 14 automakers, most of which enjoyed double-digit gains in brand value.
Toyota managed to retain its spot as the study's top automaker. It finished the survey in 10th position overall (the same as last year), despite a 17-percent improvement in its brand value, from $29.33 billion to $35.34 billion. Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Honda all made the top 20, at 11th, 12th and 20th place, respectively. Hopping a ways down the list, we come across Volkswagen in 34th place, up from 39th in last year's study, with a brand value of $11.12 billion, a 20-percent improvement over 2012. Ford and Hyundai round out the automakers in the top 50, at 42 and 43.
Porsche made the largest year-over-year gain of any automaker, with its brand value increasing 26 percent to $6.47 billion. Chevrolet meanwhile, cracks the list for the very first time at 89th place. As Interbrand notes, Chevy's inclusion is notable because of the sheer number of vehicles it moves for General Motors and its recent push in developing markets. The final interesting note on this survey is the position of an automaker that takes its name and logo more seriously than perhaps any other - Ferrari. The Italian exotic manufacturer finished 98th out of 100, with just $4.01 billion in brand value, a six-percent improvement over 2012.
