Restored Diesel BJ40/FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser 3B engine, Power steering, Roll bar, Alarm, Central locks First of all a bit about diesel Toyota Land Cruisers. They are an excellent investment besides being one of the coolest looking vintage vehicles around. Instead of a normal vehicle which constantly goes down in value, this goes up in value. Not only are they fun to drive, but they'll go anywhere: up any steep hill or through sand, mud or snow. The 4x4 option makes that possible. The engines are legendary for long lasting and not breaking down. 500,000 in not uncommon for a 3B diesel engine. They run on diesel, bio-diesel, and vegetable oil. MPG is 30-35 for the BJ40s and 22mpg for the pickups. Top speed for BJ40s is 60mph and pickups is 80mph. The top can be taken off and driven with a soft top or no top at all for open air driving. The bad news is that these amazing vehicles were never allowed in the US, until now. We can legally import them and get a US title and registered because any vehicle over 25 years is not subject to EPA standards or smog tests. We are the only ones regularly importing diesel cruisers. We are experienced, and we'll get your dream diesel Land Cruiser to your door. We can even have PS,PB, A/C, heat, new paint, and in the near future, turbo installed for a fraction of the cost of US mechanics. Now about this fine Land Cruiser: This is an absolutely stunning restored and upgraded rare diesel Land Cruiser. This is a highly sought after 1981, which we don't see a lot. This is worth much more than the asking price, but we like to keep our prices low. There is NO RUST anywhere. The engine runs strong and quiet. Everything works perfectly. The seats and interior are in excellent condition. Here is the list of upgrades: New Tires New Rims Power Steering Central locks Dome light Over head leather stereo with speakers and storage Roll bar for driving with the top off The list of upgrades we can add: PB- $800 A/C- $1,200 Heat- $600 Feel free to call with any questions- 1-888-289-2485 check out our website. Toyota CamRally is vanilla spiced
Tue, 05 Nov 2013We weren't quite sure it was possible, but NASCAR driver Parker Kligerman and the other folks behind this Toyota Dream Build Challenge vehicle (check out the other cars in the challenge) have made the Camry, a versatile but vanilla family sedan, into a performance car to be reckoned with. And by stripping it (literally) of its versatility and injecting some spice into it, this rally-spec Camry does indeed appeal to the enthusiast crowd.
The appeal starts with the CamRally's vintage Toyota racing colors of red, orange and yellow painted on a widened body. Those wide fender flares and rocker panels, paired with the revised front and rear fascias (and massive rear spoiler), lend the car an aggressive look without being tacky, and enhance the aerodynamics. But peel back the skin and you'll find plenty of performance upgrades to back up the looks.
While Toyota doesn't say how much horsepower it makes, the CamRally's V6 is turbocharged, and we assume the car's brake upgrade is indicative of the engine's increased output. The stripped interior only contains what's needed for rally racing, including bucket seats, a motorsport steering wheel covered in Alcantara, a carbon-fiber dashboard and a roll cage.
This Irishman really likes the Toyota GT86
Sun, 10 Feb 2013Okay, okay - by this point in time just liking the Toyota GT86 (Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ, what have you) doesn't make you special. Even if you're a sort of funny sounding, funny looking Irishman, who probably isn't the most seasoned car reviewer ever, digging the GT86 is not news.
However, if, when you choose to publish your ten-minute-long review, you include exclamatory phrases about your own pubic hair, Ozzy Osborne's drug habit and "gentleman vegetable stuff," well sir, then you'll have our attention.
Don't give up on this video, available down below, after the first couple of minutes, we implore you. The silver-tongued Irishman doesn't really get warmed up until four minutes in, or so. Believe us, it's worth the wait.
10 automakers shack up in Detroit hotel to talk Takata airbags
Sun, Dec 14 2014Since Takata has decided not to take the lead concerning potential issues with its airbag inflators, the automakers have. Perhaps that's unsurprising, since it's the automakers, not Takata, that will take a beating on the dealership floor if consumers decide its models are a health hazards. The Detroit News reports that Toyota, Honda, General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru met in a hotel conference room near the Detroit Metropolitan Airport last week to sort out a way to understand the technical issues involved. So far, faulty airbag inflators have been ruled the cause of five deaths and 50 injuries around the world, but neither Takata nor investigators understands exactly why the inflators are malfunctioning. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Takata to issue a national recall, Takata declined, citing a minuscule failure rate and the fact that it's still investigating the issue. Toyota and Honda then made an industry-wide appeal for "a coordinated, comprehensive testing program" that would pinpoint the problem inflators and get them replaced, and that's what the Detroit meeting was about. Numerous issues, however, will make this a long row to hoe: simply getting the parts to replace the nearly 20 million inflators in cars recalled around the world so far - even working with other suppliers - will take a years, but more importantly, no one knows if the replacement inflators currently being installed will suffer the same issue. Answers will hopefully come quickly with Takata, the ten automakers and NHTSA all independently investigating the problem.
