2002 Toyota Celica Gt-s 2zz-ge 6spd, 29k Miles, Showroom Condition on 2040-cars
Huntington Station, New York, United States
|
Essentially selling a fully-loaded, showroom condition Celica GT-S 6-speed manual with only a handful of very minor imperfections on the exterior. A few rock chips on the hood, and one rub mark on the rear driver-side corner of the bumper as shown. The car is not daily driven since buying another car a month ago, however, it is still on the road so the mileage may go up slightly.
Bought from a 71 year old man making me the 2nd owner. There are no accidents or any stories, and the vehicle spent it's entire life in a heated garage. Never driven in the snow so there is absolutely no rust to be found. Meticulously maintained by both owners both mechanically and aesthetically. Leather has been kept moisturized with Lexol leather care, Meguiar's Vinyl and plastic treatment was used for all surfaces not leather, and Griot's garage processional wax for the exterior. I am fanatical with the cleanliness and mechanical health of all my cars and it shows. The buyer of this Celica is getting an almost new car. The title is clear, all of the original documents are included as well as maintanence records. Never raced or beaten, but a few tasteful upgrades were installed: a professionally installed two-way Viper 5704V remote start alarm tailored towards manual transmission vehicles (sequence required for start), shifter bushings along with a $300 Japanese C's shifter to firm up the shifting feel, and an older OEM ECU which kept the originally intended 2ZZ-GE engine performance. For those that are not aware, this is the same 180HP/130TQ Yamaha developed VVT drivetrain that's present in the Lotus Elise/Exige, MR2 Spyder, Matrix XRS, and Corolla XRS. Personally observed gas mileage has been between 26-32MPG with Premium gas. Please look through the pictures and see my personal records below - any questions, please contact me through Ebay. 2/23/2014 - 22800 Miles Oil change - 5W30 Edge Synthetic oil change, XG3614 oil filter Spark plugs - NGK Laser Iridium 4589 spark plugs Air Filter - Purolator premium Serpentine belt - Dayco Wiper blades - Rain-X Latitude. Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers
Sun, Mar 29 2015As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Toyota won't face recall for Corolla unintended acceleration
Tue, May 5 2015Toyota will not face a recall or further investigation into an alleged unintended acceleration problem in the 2006-2010 Corolla. Following months of analysis, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was unable to find a mechanical defect to cause the issue. If there had been a safety campaign to fix the vehicles, it could have affected 1.69 million cars, according to NHTSA. The incident that prompted the investigation occurred in June 2014 when a driver was pulling into a parking spot. The 2010 Corolla allegedly lurched forward under braking and hit an unoccupied Jeep, according to The Detroit News. No one was injured. The owners had the vehicle examined by a Toyota dealer, and it found no problems. They then filed a petition with NHTSA to open a deeper investigation. NHTSA took the family's Corolla and tested it for over 2,000 miles, according to The News. The agency couldn't replicate the problem and found the brakes were capable of keeping the vehicle from moving at full throttle. In their petition, the owners also submitted 143 other unique complaints of this issue in the Corolla, but the Feds found that most of these incidents were due to driver error where the gas or both pedals were accidentally pressed. After taking all of this into account, "NHTSA has concluded that further investigation of the issues raised by the petition is not warranted," the agency wrote in its report. You can read the entire, 23-page explanation for yourself in PDF format, here. INVESTIGATION Subject : Low-speed surging Date Investigation Opened: SEP 19, 2014 Date Investigation Closed: APR 29, 2015 NHTSA Action Number: DP14003 Component(s): VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL All Products Associated with this Investigation Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) TOYOTA COROLLA 2006-2010 Details Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Corporation SUMMARY: The Agency received a petition on September 11, 2014 requesting an investigation into, "low-speed surging in the 2006-2010 Toyota Corolla [vehicles] with ETCS-i, in which the brakes fail to stop the vehicle in time to prevent a crash." NHTSA conducted a technical review of the material cited and provided by the petitioner, material Toyota submitted in response to a NHTSA formal request, interviews with complainants and manufacturer representatives, as well as the results of testing of the complaint vehicle.
Union to launch Toyota organization drive in Canada
Sun, 12 Jan 2014Toyota may be heading toward some labor issues in the Great White North, as employees at a pair of Canadian Toyota factories may be set for a certification vote. The Unifor union, which was the result of a merger last year between the Canadian Auto Workers and the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union, will be holding the vote.
Over 40 percent of the employees at the Woodstock and Cambridge, Ontario factories have signed union cards, cresting the minimum percentage required to instigate a legal certification vote, according to Reuters. The Woodstock factory is responsible for RAV4 production, while Cambridge builds the Lexus RX350 and RX450h, as well as the Toyota Corolla. The two factories employ nearly 7,000 people.
It's unclear when the union will hold a certification vote at the two factories, but what is rather clear are the worker complaints. Employees are concerned about workers being hired on temporary contracts which lack the benefits of full employment, John Aman, head of organizing for Unifor, told Reuters.
